You feel really tired by 8:30pm, but you want to stay under 1200 calories a day? Can I ask why you want to go lower? Eating less than 1200 cal. a day can stress your body out and deplete you of essential nutrition and energy. Especially if you're an active person.

Right?! I still find it ridiculous it took me 32 years lol.

How low is your carb intake? Many people who transition to a low carb diet experience some side effects as their body transitions. Give it a few days to see if your body gets used to it. Could be something as simple as a sugar withdrawal.

Month into it and loving it. Living a very active lifestyle and weight training six days a week. Anyone here feel free to add me if you'd like.

The point of lifting is to gain strength which builds muscle. Lifting causes micro tears in your muscle. In turn, the muscle heals itself and grows, in the process. DOMS is normal. And it's why you shouldn't work the same muscle group the next day. Give time for those muscles to recover and work out a different group.

Cool down when you're done with your entire lifting day, not during it. I start with a weight that I know I can do at least 10 reps with for two sets, then add weight in for the next three sets incrementally. I do the last three sets until failure. For example, my squats looked like this yesterday: 135lbs x 12 155lbs x 12…

People either have the want and will to lose weight or they don't. And they need to realize that a quick fix is never the answer. However, they need to realize that on their own. Losing weight and staying healthy is a lifelong endeavor. It takes changing habits, many of which are difficult to change and take discipline and…

I just posted a good fix for this in another thread. As was mentioned, everyone's got a dominant arm, for the most part. A good way to help even out the strength is to do alternating sets. Let me explain using dumbbell curls. Begin one set on your weaker arm. Do that set until failure. Now, switch to your stronger arm. Do…

Good mornings, lunges, and squats, squats, squats.

Squats, lunges, squats, presses, more lunges. Donkey calf raises.

Your right arm may be more powerful than your left, which is normal to have a dominant arm. You can even arm strength out in a couple ways, but Dumbbells are effective. Do curls and start with your non-dominant arm. Do curls on that arm until failure. Switch to your dominant arm and do only as many as you did with your…

This exactly. You don't have to pull 400lbs on a deadlift for it to be an effective lift. Start light and build. As was said, they help build your core. Also, to target your core, do woodchoppers, farmers walk with a dumbbell/kettlebell, cable crunches, leg lifts, planks.

This is where I stay. Blueberries and blackberries are my thing. I'll have an occasional piece of fruit, but not much at all. I really don't have the craving since I've been keeping my sugar intake so low.
-
Eh, I eat it straight up with nothing in it. Though I've never tried mixing it with anything.
-
About a month into it. Getting more and more used to it. Feel free to add me if you'd like.

Never. I'm pretty good with portion sizes and weight.

Celery and peanut butter. Crunchy and delicious. Also, try these. They're freakin delicious and simple to make: http://youtu.be/oIiwkMnYy3o

When I was a kid, I wouldn't touch the stuff. To me, it looked like crushed styrofoam in mayo or something. I'm 32 this year and just tasted it for the first time. My first reaction was wanting to call my parents and apologize for being such a dick about not wanting to eat it. It tastes like soft cheese chunks in creamy…

Don't go too hard on the weights your first few weeks. Your body is not going to be used to it and, if you're too sore to work out the next day, you're gonna fall behind. Start easy and then build up, imo.
-
Just stay with it. You WILL see results as long as you keep at it. Do not get discouraged! Do it for you and nobody else. And, yes, you want to give your muscles time to repair and grow. Working the same muscles every day doesn't give them enough time to heal and grow properly. Feel free to add me as a friend, if you'd…

This exactly. Meal timing and the "most important meal" idea is a myth.

@Sleeper1968 Obviously you can balance out and indulge, but the person I'm replying to has, in multiple threads, espoused "eat what you want" to hit your caloric intake. And if that's not what they mean, then they're doing a terrible job at expressing their thoughts. My gripe with the whole "just eat whatever as long as…

One of the best effects of the keto diet that I've experienced. I can go pretty much all day without eating and not be hungry if I had to.
-
I've cooked a few things from both B.U.F.F. Dudes Food and the Protein Chef, both found on YouTube. They've got some great recipes. B.U.F.F. Dudes cauliflower buffalo bites are delicious.
-
I haven't heard of sore throat being a side effect.
-
@Springfield1970 Switching to a keto diet has initial side effects as your body transitions from a carb-based energy to fat-based. Everything OP is experiencing is pretty normal for the initial transition.
-
As well as what everyone else mentioned, you could be experiencing withdrawal from sugars. It's happened to some switching to a keto diet and usually disappears after a week or so.

Nobody is trying to be a pariah. However, saying that excess is the only thing that effects health is utterly stupid.
-
@eldamiano My diet is full of incredible tasting food that I cook daily. All types of meats, vegetables, and, yes, salads that are delicious. Eating healthy is only bland and boring if you make it. You want to fill your body with trash, go ahead. Some people are actually here to get fit. Yes, you can eat donuts and pizza…

I eat about three a day. Sometimes four. I also live a very active life and lift for 1 1/2 to 2 hours a day.
