I think a few of the posters above have already nailed it, so I will just add that if you don't try you are guaranteed to fail. The thing you gain by trying is the possibility of success, and the more committed you are, the more likely it becomes.

Congrats! That is awesome. The difference in the pictures is already huge. Keep up the great work!

Your raw food diet is difficult to maintain, it is hard to get proper nutrition, and you are already sick of it. The solution is obvious: stop doing that! The key to weight loss is to maintain a calorie deficit. Eating way too little of foods you loathe is one way to achieve that, but it isn't very sustainable. A more…

I think lots of people experience this to greater or lesser degrees. I have been dealing with it a bit myself and it is definitely taking me some time to get used to the new me. There was even one day when I looked in the mirror and was momentarily horrified by how skinny I looked (at perhaps 220 pounds). I swear I thought…

If you eat too little, you will definitely be too hungry, and that will cause you to fail. The most important thing is to maintain a modest calorie deficit. Start there, without worrying too much about the carbs and sugars. Once you have that down, then you can work on figuring out which specific foods work best for you.…

Inspiring others to lose is pretty great validation! I have had a couple of people ask how I did it and one or two have actually started using MFP themselves. It's too soon to know if they will stick with it long enough to have an impact, but I sure hope so. And @candythorns, I think "You look more fit" is careful…

Hi Lucinda. You can do this. It really is as simple as tracking your calories and making sure that you eat less calories than you burn each day. Even if your resting metabolic rate is low, you can increase your burn rate with exercise. MFP allows you to enter your exercise and adjusts your daily calorie target accordingly.…

Great job on the weight loss! I noticed. People are really weird about weight loss. Some truly don't see it. Some notice, but can't figure out what is different ("Did you get a haircut?"). Some notice but are embarrassed to say anything about it. Some notice, but it makes them feel bad about themselves, so they…

I recommend option C: Do what you can do, and when you can do more, do more. Every little bit helps.

Careful, man. Your apparent lack of any sense of smell is probably what attracted her to you. I can just see her thinking, "At last, a man I can be with!" Don't blow it now by revealing the truth! Actually, I'm dying to know if this was a first or if she often gets dates this way.

Hahahahaaaa!!! This thread made my day. Bucknutz, you are my new hero.

Sorry to hear that. Polycystic ovary syndrome can apparently screw up your hormones, but it can't do magic. If you are working out that much and eating that little, you ought to be losing, not gaining. My guess, like that of the poster above, is that you are eating more than you think. More careful measurement and logging…

Are you kidding?!? That is a huge success! Well done! Just stay positive and keep doing what you are doing and you will reach your goal. Think of it as a lifestyle change rather than a race. You'll get there.

His honesty. Although I'm pretty sure he is sure.

No. You burn 2500 a day or so just living. You might gain 2 pounds a week doing that.

I started C25K in mid-December after 18 months on an elliptical. I ditched it after a few weeks and just started running. I did my 8th run of 3+ miles yesterday, bringing my weekly total to >10 miles. A friend just invited me to run a 10K race with her in April. Time to get serious!

I'm with sandels--If you say you can't, you can't. On the other hand, if you believe you can, you can. Here's what works for me: If someone else can do it, it is possible, and if it is possible, I can do it. Believe that you can do it. You really can. You can do it because you care about yourself and you want to feel good…

What they all said. Don't worry about it. It isn't the end of the world. Even if your deficit is only 250 calories/day (.5 lbs/week), you will still come out slightly under for the week if you hit your target the rest of the week. If you aren't very hungry today, eat a little less. Otherwise, just go back to your regular…

Gluten free EVERYTHING. Who would have thought that taken gluten out would add so many calories! And while we are on the subject, who would have guessed that gluten is so delicious!

One of the things I have learned as I have aged--really, one of the few things I think I have learned that has made me wiser--is that you really do need to do things for yourself. We each have only one life and our primary job is to take care of ourselves. Monna2, it sounds like you don't want to lose weight. If that is…

What you describe is totally normal. Varying amounts of water and food waste in your system will cause 1-2 pounds variation daily. It means nothing. Look at the longer-term trends to know what your weight is really doing.
-
Without a lot more information, it is impossible to tell you what happened. Are you eating at a deficit? How much? For how long? Etc. BUT, what you describe is well within the normal daily variation for someone your weight (or even much less). Most home scales aren't even accurate enough to distinguish .2 pounds variance.…
