I get this too. In photos taken on the same day I can feel I look both tiny and huge. Logically I know I am a 'normal' weight and my clothes are all four sizes smaller, but it just doesn't compute all the time.

*waves*. I don't accept friend requests on here as my account is just for personal accountability, and I eat 1650-1850.

Not the original poster either, but thank you - that looks great!

I was scrolling through my facebook feed and saw that a friend had posted photos from a recent Tough Mudder, and it looked like fun. I caught myself thinking “You’re far too useless to ever try to drag your fat butt over obstacles. It would be farcical. Don’t even think about it”. I pulled myself up mid-negative thought…

Me too! Peanut butter is my go-to bedtime snack, and I never last more than a minute or two reading before I wake myself by dropping my kindle on my face :)

I have the charge. Since July 1st last year I've lost 43lbs. I log my food, pay attention to my fitbit numbers, and make the assumption that fitbit probably overestimates by a few % and that I probably underestimate by a few % so we cancel each other out. My losses have been pretty consistent with the figures so I'm…

I'm 44, 5'3" currently 131.5. Measurements-wise that puts me exactly in a UK8 down to my hipbones, and it's south of there that things go literally pear-shaped. So although I'm really happy with my size generally, there's no way anyone with functioning eyes who saw me undressed could refer to my lower body as 'skinny' (as…

'Nother fluke checking in. 42.5 lbs down and counting *eats another danish pastry*

5'3", 44, 132lbs, eat anything from 1650-2000, losing one or two lbs a month on that. Desk job, but walk at least five miles a day as part of my commute, usually more.

I walked 40 minutes to the shops wearing shorts. That in itself is a confidence NSV, but the reality of life without thigh rub is a magical, magical thing!

I'm doing a half marathon in September in a vineyard that has six wine-tasting stations en route :)
-
I don't have visual evidence, but my cellulite definitely seems to be on the retreat. I have seen a major improvement in the last 7lbs under the top end of 'normal' BMI

I'm 44 and eat more and weigh less than when I was 19. Age is irrelevant if you're fuelling yourself appropriately for your calorie needs at your current activity level.
-
Brilliant! I love the celebration idea too :)

You already said it - "I don't have to starve and can eat what I want within my calories". If people can't wrap their heads around that simple statement, it's their issue! :)

Monitor my portion sizes, log my food, do some exercise every day (I walk at least an hour a day five days a week as part of my commute so that part's easy). I still eat absolutely everything that I used to eat, pastries, pizza and all. I like planning my meals in advance and being able to work around craving particular…

Snacks make my world go round! I like to eat every couple of hours (as well as chugging water). Water for me just delays the inevitable by 15 minutes or so :)

I was dubious about my fitbit to start with, so I decided to do an experiment, and for a few weeks tried to eat a few hundred calories less per day than it reported that I had burned. I carried on losing weight pretty much exactly in line with the figures I got from it. My preference now is to track and log everything on…

I think this is the case for me too, I didn't get active until I was in my very late 30s. At 44 and 5'3" my TDEE is over 2000

I've been using mine for around 8 months and it's been on the button. If I look at my weekly reports and weekly calorie expenditure and compare it to my food diary and my weight, it's a very close correlation.
-
As others have said, it's personal preference. I've only been attempting morning runs for a couple of weeks. So far I've mostly done 15-20 minutes with just a glass of water beforehand, but on a couple of days that I woke up already hungry I had 1/4 to 1/3 of a protein bar to take the edge off the hunger a tiny bit about…

As I approached a healthy weight my loose fat started to jiggle a lot more, and (to my perception) my cellulite became more obvious than when I was bigger. It really did appear to get worse before it started to get better. Over the last few lbs (which I am taking off deliberately slowly), I have started to notice a very…

What do you need for a bikini body? In my book, three things: body, bikini, desire to wear bikini. For me *personally* this is the first year that I've owned a bikini. I've always felt more comfortable in a one piece. Why? I hadn't found a cut of bikini that worked for my comfort level, and (this is the key) that my butt…

I just posted this in the side by side thread, but I guess it belongs here too... The first one is from 2008 and around my heaviest. In 2010-11 I went from 200 to 138, then had a period of illness and regained to 172 (I don't have any clear full body pics from then). Last June - November I went back from 172 to 138, then…

Here's mine - the first one is from 2008 and around my heaviest. In 2010-11 I went from 200 to 138, then had a period of illness and regained to 172 (I don't have any clear full body pics from then). Last June - November I went back from 172 to 138, then took a maintenance break, then started to lose very slowly again at…

Bit of a silly one, this. I watch music videos on my iPad when I'm on the treadmill. 40lbs ago, I couldn't go past 8.5kph without the tremors from my footfall sending the iPad flying. Today I was at 12kph and it didn't budge an inch.

I have to get myself to bed by 11.30 pm or getting out of bed at 6.15 will not happen. Workout clothes and work clothes are laid out the night before I also have two different and equally annoying alarms that start going off at 6.

I have a bad mirror next to my wardrobe (it's a bit bowed, makes me wider in the midsection and hips). I figure if I look OK in that I have nothing to worry about, flattering mirrors are a bonus :)
