Thank you both!

Completely relate to this. Intermittent fasting kept me lean for years. Ever since breaking it i've been unable to do it as strictly and have put on a lot of weight. I still had hunger pangs with IF, especially when the coffee from the AM wore off. I would get a little light headed too and that never went away but if I…

I take it OP isn't following the Ice Cream and Abs channel on youtube.com :)

Anything that keeps me somewhat full for longer than 30 minutes. I love roasting veggies (broccoli carrots & cauliflower together). I'm eating more plant based at the moment so not as much meat although sometimes I like grilled salmon. I think I got really sick of chicken trying to eat "healthy" so I began eating what…

It is nice reading everyone's different approaches to this.

All of these are great suggestions. I prefer not to just guesstimate at restaurants because I will eat pounds of "healthy/clean" food and be over my calorie limits due to big portions. Not saying I never will eat out because that's unsustainable but knowing I can order a tea, coffee, eat before or after, etc. are all good…

Used to be a vegetarian as well and lost plenty of weight but I was very active and counting every calorie. I ate a lot of bananas, apples, tons of vegetables, squash. My fats/proteins were mostly nut butters, nuts, hummus (didn't like avocado at the time), and I also used a vegan protein powder post workout. I did get…

Definitely eat enough carbs to fuel your activity. Glad to see you're not anemic. Vitamin D deficiency presents similar symptoms for some of muscle weakness, fatigue. Also, b vitamins. Hopefully you are feeling better.
-
Not at all. However, when i cut calories, I prefer to use protein powder because chicken breast gets monotonous. Also, I am a big believer in B vitamins, vitamin D. Helps me a lot with energy and mood.
-
Sometimes it is easier to eat the same foods as it takes less mental energy to think about what to eat, how much to eat to stay within calorie limits, etc.
-
No. When I lost weight initially i was an insomniac and averaged 4-5 hours a night, broken up. I just made sure never to go over my calories, mostly by intermittent fasting. I got tired of sleeping like *kitten* and started reactive eating, not being as active and gained back a ton of weight. trying to find the happy…

Thank you everyone for the insights.

Yes I drink a lot of water. I'm aware of the nutritional benefit of oatmeal, fiber vs doughnuts :) but I agree, I could do with a small breakfast, medium lunch, sizeable dinner...as long as i keep within my calories :0

Personally I do not like Cassie at all. She has little to no muscle tone. Idk...I see a lot more programs out there ideal for creating a shape and preserving muscle while aiming for fat loss. Maybe the program is great and it's just her genetics...but I do believe progressive weight lifting, proper diet are better than…

Hard to say. I believe i just fell into some bad habits with it. I just got used to only being satisfied with eating a lot of food at once. And when I broke my fast early I would say "screw it" and binge. I kept getting told by a lot of people that the reason I get so hungry at night is because I skip breakfast but I'm not…

Thanks everyone. I agree. I think having smaller breakfast and earlier meals is going to help. I wasn't having anything before 2pm before so seeing if this helps to allow me to eat more substantial evening meals, while getting some nutrients in earlier.
-
I just had oats with some protein powder and almonds. Feel better now. I agree...a lot more filling than a slice of whole grain bread.

LOL :/

Yes, i'm working out with my HR varying between 140-180 for about an hour 5-6 days a week.
-
I have trouble keeping my calories in control. trainer recommended it so I'm trying it.
-
I am going from an intermittent fasting style of eating mostly 3 ish meals of late lunch, snack and dinner to 6 meals and it is a big adjustment. Wondering if my stomach will get used to the smaller portions and be more content over time and "shrink" a little. I'm used to eating large portions.
-
Have you tried omperazole? There are medications like prilosec, etc. that are helpful with GERD flareups. Run by your doctor of course but it may help more than tums.
-
thanks for this. I am aware of the negative effect they have on thyroid and cooking them supposedly makes them OK. however I agree that too much veg can also be bad for sleeping well.
-
I have tried various amount of carbs. from very low to very high with fats inversely correlated to amount of carbs. The problem is that I wakeup from the reactive hunger. I should be asleep but my problem is I wake up.
-
Thank you. I think it's worth checking out as well. I tried magnesium for years with no help. I took citrate, malate, carbonate and no form worked. Have also taken epsom salt bath...made my heart skip beats and make me feel physically tired but not my brain. Thank you for your suggestions.

I eat huge bags of broccoli and cauliflower and then 20 mins later my stomach feels empty. It's like they bloat me and keep me full for a very short period of time.
-
yes. I thought she was both as she had an MD. frustrating.

I log my foods on live strong and only have used the diary a few times, as you mentioned when live strong was down. That is why my intake is not on there. I do log everyday, but rarely am able to stay in a deficit, as I mentioned.
-
Thank you for this suggestion. More carbs slightly help. But then I also get reactive hunger from them. Ugh. Exercise helps wonders for how I feel but the insomnia makes exercising much harder.
-
I was not fasting when I developed the IF. But it later became helpful to at least feel more full at night when the insomnia and night eating began. I would at least delay meals so I would eat less calories in the 24 hours. I am now off all herbs as they are not helpful. I'm not taking any meds. was on thyroid medication…
