I get this and it started when I began intermittent fasting. I used to not have such issues with knowing hunger/fullness but when I started waiting until 4 pm to eat daily, everything got out of sync. When I started breaking fasts earlier/trying to eat breakfast/eat any earlier, my calories became much higher and while it…

Putting oil and butter in your coffee to lose weight. Um why not just create a calorie deficit? I also have a friend who is obsessed with south beach. the initial water loss thrills her and eventually she stalls and falls off, gaining more weight with each attempt.

Interesting to see the variety here. Holidays can be hard. This year was personally easy for me as I stopped restricting so much leading up to Christmas and increased my activity a bit before, during and after. I was able to stay in a deficit as I was pretty active throughout the past week as I knew I'd be indulging. I…

for the two people that were up a from going 500 over maintenance..is that a total of 500 for one day? or over 500 daily for a few days? if only over 500 on one day through all of Christmas Eve, Day, Boxing Day, that is impressive!

I like Jaybirds

It will not necessarily help you lose the body fat--diet will do that. As long as you are consistently in a deficit you will lose fat with/without lifting. It will help increase your output but is not necessary to lose weight. It will, however, help you to preserve the lean body mass you already have, which is important.…

If you're awake 5am-11:30 you aren't getting enough sleep and this could also be a large contributor to the excess hunger levels. Ideally 7-8 hrs of sleep (9 pm/10pm-5am) is recommended for health. Your blood sugar and heart, brain, body all suffer from less sleep. I understand you work and are studying now but if you can…

Yes. Usually hunger increases from ovulation up until I get my period. Although I just finished mine but have done some intense exercise the past week so my hunger hasn't died down as it usually does. It has helped me to focus on protein and be mindful about eating things that won't satisfy my hunger, although I often…

IF may help some and hurt others. Sometimes if you IF you may find yourself over hungry and feel it more difficult to hit the "stop" button. IF can also be good with a shorter eating window if you're finding you like having an eating window in general but not make it so extreme that it isn't sustainable. Also, getting…
-
Good luck then. Clearly, you know what to do so go back to what works for you! If it worked for you before and is sustainable, then not sure what would have even brought you here.
-
So do you think going back to eating less will help you win the fight? The binge/restrict cycle is what keeps many people stuck.
-
How long has it been since you increased calories? SO many things will make your weight fluctuate. I highly doubt you gained weight eating 1800-2100 especially if you're active. If you were sedentary I would think it is possible to be up maybe 1-2 lbs after a month of eating 2100. Constipation, hormones, more carbs/salt…

I like your input and understand where you're coming from. However, I don't personally like or eat meat much. I eat a fair amount of poultry and don't particularly enjoy cooking. I would prefer supplementing with collagen powder if I am planning to ingest it on a regular basis vs cooking parts of an animal I don't care to…

I would be hoping to feel less general aches and pains, improved exercise tolerance, etc.

fav sandwich: sprouts, avocado, sunflower seeds, turkey, cranberry, lettuce on seeded bread. lately loving sweet potato fries. i make sweet potatoes roasted or microwaved daily but the fries made by a local restaurant are so addicting. margherita pizza with extra basil peanut butter on everything

They also have companies who produce smaller portions of nut butter packets...100 calorie packets.

It depends. If you cut carbs/salt you'll see a quick drop within a day or 3. However the moment you touch sodium or a carbohydrate it'll likely go up again. I would just keep on a sustainable eating plan that works for you and maybe do some cardio if you want to expend a little more. Hormones also play a huge role. PMS is…

Oh geez. No, you will not gain weight from eating the amount a small child needs for basic energy needs by 2:30. Even if you don't workout, you will either maintain your weight or continue on your deficit even if you double your intake for a day. You probably burn between 1900-2400 just going about your day. Any gains you…

https://facebook.com/groups/1759358524278511/ Here is a link to that group on FB for HA. Such a good support system there for women dealing with this issue.

Yes, BC will mask the issue as it prevents you from ovulating and mimics a cycle. My OBGYN wanted me on BC while not having a period to protect my bones but she also stressed wanted to get to the root of why I was not cycling naturally. A LOT of drs do not know much about HA and severely underestimate how much…

I had to stop all intentional exercise. I took short walks with my dog and stretched but no intense yoga or anything that felt like stress to my body. I worked with a dietitian and she suggested I don't count which I couldn't cope with at the time as I had worked so hard to lose weight and was super lean. However besides…

@rheddmobile it's health-calc.com and then go to weight loss-->advanced calorie calculator. It's pretty darn accurate as long as you're modest when entering true time sitting, working out/intensity, etc. It is within about 100 calories of my apple watch and losing at the rate I should be given the TDEE/intake I am…

Carbs aren't your problem, especially if you are weight training and only eating 1200 calories a day. I do moderate/intense cardio for maybe 40 minutes and eat 2000-2300 calories a day from all food groups and am losing 1-2 lbs a week with hypothyroidism. I went from 190-164 doing this consistenly and still losing…
-
And you have not cheated or deviated once from this since you began this Oct 1st?
-
This is calculated assuming 8 hours sleep and absolutely no activity with your stats. Hypothyroidism will slow things down by maybe 100-200 calories max but you are still in a deficit and if you have been eating that little for more than a month and seeing no change in weight regardless of weight lifting, I will state…
-
If you're eating 1200 calories a day it doesn't matter if you're sedentary....you will lose weight unless you're already underweight which you are not. There is either a large error in food measurement or you are cheating on your diet. Even if you have hypothyroidism or insulin resistance, you're eating far under your…

This is why I do all the cardio that people on this thread say they "don't do and just eat less to maintain/lose". For the short women, we have to be pretty active to be able to eat a "normal" amount of food and maintain/lose. I do 45-50 mins intense cardio (HR 165-185 BPM stairmill, bike sprints, uphill fast walking) so I…

Your weight will likely immediately go up as soon as you increase due to increased carbohydrates (glycogen storage) and sodium than it is used to. However, unless you're consuming 3500 excess calories than you're burning, it's just water. It will not hurt you to bump up your calories slowly. Health-calc.com's advanced…
