  • I think you have to go to the website to subscribe. It gets cheaper the longer you commit. For me it was about £5 a month, I think, maybe £50-60 for the year. See this page (maybe different if you don't live in the U.K): https://www.headspace.com/buy ETA: but don't forget to try the free Take Ten course first!
  • I find the Fitbit sync a bit of a mystery but could it be because you haven't taken enough steps to impact on your activity level yet today? For example, if you've told MFP you're lightly active or even more active than that, the amount of activity your Fitbit has registered today isn't enough to give you extra calories as…
  • Another vote for Pilates and yoga, these are great for improving balance and complement any other activity. But don't be put off joining a martial arts (or any other) class. As @AnnPT77 said, it's about persistence, regardless of what you choose. Good luck!
  • There's been a huge surge in mindfulness meditation in the past few years, which is non spiritual and more about mind training. I have meditated on and off for 3 years but never for spiritual reasons. I used to use Headspace, which is a mindfulness website (and app) that has a free 10-session course you can try before…
  • There's another recent thread (currently a few threads along from this one) in this section called Must Haves on your Grocery List that gives an idea of what some MFPers eat regularly. I can't find a way to link to it from the app but it should be high up in this section or do a search for the thread title. [Edited for…
  • My list is pretty much the same as @LiveLoveFitFab minus the green tea and + dark chocolate. @ds41980 I hope you don't live in the UK as we're currently having an iceberg lettuce shortage (due to bad weather in Europe). One of the major supermarkets has started rationing them to three per person!!
  • If you like the oatmeal, just add the milk as a separate entry in MFP; it's the same result and probably easier than searching for a brand that includes the milk. There are so many different types of milk available now (with different nutritional info), it's possible you won't find one with milk included.
  • What a great story! Congratulations OP!

  • Smart idea! Wish I'd thought of that myself!
  • Sounds like you've answered your own question then. Best of luck to you.
  • It's quite a broad question and depending on why and how you work out is hard to give you a useful answer. For example, I am a member of a small gym and have just pulled a ligament in my knee so for the last week I have still been working out but the trainer has me doing doing mostly upper body weights plus the cross…
  • Having read these boards avidly for 8 months, I get the impression the majority of people posting here aren't doing this for external validation/admiration. Our reasons are as varied and complex as we humans are. Ps. I was one of those people who thought I was a healthy fat person because I ate 'healthy' home-cooked food,…
  • Walking is a great idea and fits in with your desire to change your lifestyle. Before you know it you'll be walking much more than before and actually enjoying the opportunity to do so. In terms of meals, habits etc, these boards are a great source of information and inspiration. I would advise incorporating MFP reading…
  • This veggie chipotle chilli from the MFP blog is a good 'un that I always come back to. http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/vegetarian-chipotle-chili/
  • OP, I agree that in-person class practice is important as it will help you develop good form and allow for instructor feedback. I also agree with @Nikki10129 : the Yoga with Adriene YouTube channel is a great at-home route (ideally in parallel with classes) because she embodies the spirit of yoga, of it not being a…
  • Me too. I'm obviously not following the right threads...
  • Did you try a forced sync? I think there are some issues at the moment with MFP and Fitbit; I've seen a few messages in the forums.
  • Thank you! I have suddenly experienced this problem after months of being able to track. I kept disconnecting/reconnecting the apps but didn't realise the Step function had reset itself not to track. Thanks so much!
  • Me too! There's something comforting in knowing exactly what I'm going to get. A bit like the endlessly repetitive #EasyMac diet, in fact. In these rapidly changing times, we all need something we can cling to. Don't go changing, #EasyMac.
  • I know we're not even in mid January but I can't see this thread being beaten for value in 2017. #easymac (I felt compelled to end my post with the hashtag, not sure why).
  • It's definitely not cardio as the movements are very gentle and the aim isn't to get your heart rate up. You will build some strength through some of the body weight exercises but, compared with using weights, it's a much more gentle form of strength training. I do Pilates because it's good for my core strength and my…

  • Another vote for Yoga with Adriene (but note the correct website is http://yogawithadriene.com/ ie Adriene with one N). ETA: also try the YouTube channel directly to cut to the chase: https://m.youtube.com/user/yogawithadriene/videos
