  • So I'm double booking myself essentially! Got it, will change my settings and see if that helps. Thank you :)
  • This is a really nice idea, think I might stock up on some of this kind of stuff - especially the glow bracelets. If the kids put them straight on it'll make them more visible and theres an awful lot of traffic where we live.
  • I've been struggling with a similar situation. I'm 31, female and would like to lose another 7 - 10lbs. I joined yoga/thai chi/pilates class and discovered to do some core strength training. Immediately I found that strength training, plus cardio plus my class made 1200 calories unfeasible anyway - I kept defaulting I was…
  • Peanut butter on red peppers?? Wow! I must try this! I have been having a very small apple with peanut butter but still feel its too much sugar. Well done on resisting the urge to weigh yourself too often. Too many things can effect your weight day to day and its discouraging to see the pointer move in slightly in the…
  • @jemhh - Have you tried the ‘over-night scrunch’ method? It depends how tight you like your curls but to prevent the squashing and be able to wear it down every day I usually scrunch sections of my hair up into little balls and tie with a hair tie. After washing and styling my hair it hangs around my jaw line in fairly…
  • Thanks for sharing and all those giving in put there after! I saw this too and was tempted to buy it, glad I didn't now!
  • Its awkward because you want to know your current weight to set your calories etc right...however, I don't suppose just a few pounds would make a difference to that. The other guys are right, just pick one scale and stick to it. Knowing that the pounds are going up or down is more important than the actual number. My scale…
  • Thanks for replying to my post...... seeing as no one had replied to OP I thought a quick reply would bump it. Sugar is not just sugar its Glucose, Fructose, Sucrose etc. And as for the difference between synthesized and refined - its processed is what I was getting at. Pretty sure OP didn't need such an indepth chemistry…
  • In response to your fruit versus chocolate/crisps is about nutrition. Both those food groups contain sugar but one contains natural sugar and the other contains synthetic sugar. Synthetic sugar peaks faster in your blood stream and disappears quicker (is used up) so you need to eat again to keep the body fuelled. I'm sure…
  • I looked at your diary and took your calories as an average of 2000 per day. I put your height, age, sex, starting weight and 'light activity' into this calculator: http://www.weightloss-calculator.net/ You say it took you approx 5 week to lose 14lbs. The calculator seems to agree that you should lose around this amount in…
  • 8 months into keto and quit (ish) for about a month. Beware of the sweet cravings, I don't even have a sweet tooth but I got this in the first week or so. Something about increased oxygen tips your oxygen to glucose ratio. I have dark, dark chocolate and peanut butter to hand now. First 3 weeks I stayed the same, when I…
  • I honestly believe the self righteous assumption strangers feel they have to comment on someone is most directed towards smokers. I no longer smoke but its unreal how many people would put themselves into the vicinity just to tell me how awful I was for smoking.
  • I had someone ask if i was pregnant once (wasn't and never have been). I was taking a 5 hour bus journey in the searing heat, despite being self conscious I had short leggings on and a strappy top. An hour in the bus crashed, thank fully no one was seriously hurt. We were carted off the motorway and attended to by…
  • I bought a sports bra before I started hitting the gym last month. I'm currently a 34F and heard horror stories about stretching breast muscles that will never go back! A good sports bra I because it must have two chambers - one for each breast and must be sized like a proper bra (waist band and cup) and not in…
  • This isn't answering your question but your calorie deficit shouldn't be making you too tired or rough to exercise. If it were it would mean it was too great a deficit but the debate here is talking about whether or not it is enough as you're not losing. I hope you get to the bottom of your current question but when you do…
  • 6-12?!?!?! Surely not! When do you find time to do anything else? lol
  • You shouldn't cut out both carbs and fats, your body needs one or the other to fuel itself. You obviously know some about low fat diets (its the conventional way to lose weight) but you should research low carb diets. They aren't for everyone but some people find them easy to follow. Edit: you shouldn't cut 'down' on both…
  • 4 lb in one week is pretty substantial, even if you achieve it because you're just starting aim for a more realistic (and healthy) loss of 1 to 2 lbs per week. Good luck!
  • Been doing keto for 6/7 months now. Best thing I ever did. Commentors are correct there are very friendly low carb/keto people in the groups here. Feel free to add :)
  • It takes 20 minutes for the body to tell the brain its full. After your first bag promise yourself to wait 20 minutes before you decide to have another one. Just go the 20 minutes and see if its any easier to resist.
  • Training at least partly for core strength! Any one doing similar feel free to add :)
  • I'd call that pain in your side when running a 'stitch'. Its thought to be a result of 'reduction in blood supply to the diaphragm.......caused by fluids which the body finds hard to digest.' Have you changed your fluid intake type? Maybes its related to hydration or as some people suggest electrolytes.
  • I use unsweetened soy milk, in the UK its about the same price as normal milk. I've also heard people use butter or peanut butter. I couldn't get the peanut butter to mix in properly though :/
  • Thank you for explaining active recovery! I had no idea I could do that! I'll be working it into my routine :)
  • If you don't mind my asking; whats active recovery?
  • Ok, I may get slated for this but I'm going to give you the other side of the coin that most people won't talk about. I'm a recent (really recent) ex-smoker but I started my weight loss and get fit journey 6 months ago. Prior to that I never believed I'd be able to do any exercise. I've smoked 40 a day for more than 10…
  • I kinda lost the thread of this thread (??) but i think I'm responding to @STLBADGIRL - your husband 'is a DOER' you said. I read a book about the difference between men and women years ago. It said men are logical problem solvers and women are emotional talkers. The issue arises like this: Woman comes home from work and…
  • Sorry, I hadn't thought to open it. I've made it public (temporarily). I've only been tracking again for the last few days to keep an eye on my CICO but what is on there is a very typical day for me.
  • Interesting idea! I have to admit its been the most worrying part of it all!
