Its true you can't spot reduce fat but you can work on the muscles in that particular area. Look up some core exercises, it could help you change your shape but most importantly it should help you feel better :)

Ketofiles - love it :) Can vouch for this group too, totally awesome :)

^^^^ That is what I meant, not specifically 800/900 calories. OP still has't given stats, we're all assuming the numbers are correct.

Eating so few calories (800/900) is likely to have slowed your metabolism. It's not recommended to eat less than 1000 a day unless you are very, very small and very, very inactive. 1200 calories is a typical number to aim for to lose weight, how did you come to decide that this was an appropriate number for maintenance?

I understand now people talking about CICO 'not being responsible for weight loss' are also discussing the types of calories/foods we are eating. I've done a certain amount of Metabolic Biochem and Molecular Chemistry and I can elaborate on your explanation. There are number of different sugar types: glucose, fructose,…

This is a lovely idea, thank you :)

Thank you both Sunny Bunny and macchiatto for clarifying my CICO confusion. I know exactly where you care coming from now!

A genuine question asked in a friendly way: what other mechanism can cause weight loss? I see people who don't believe in CICO quite often but to me its logic. I can't think of any other system of anatomy that would cause weight loss??

1. Does eating too much protein throw you out of ketosis and convert to fat, or is that a myth? - Eating too much protein can cause your body to convert it to glucose (a type of carbs) but not to fat. It takes alot of protein to do this though and your body has to work harder to covert it so if you're eating enough fat…

I have 25g of no added sugar Sunpat with a sliced apple most days. Really good combo! Comes in at just under 200 calories

There is no such thing as 'starvation mode' - here is a really handy link that refers to scientific studies proving this but uses plain language to explain: http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/starvation-mode/ Also, unless you are on a ketogenic diet your body has a finite reserve of glycogen, it cannot increase beyond this…

I confess to three cigarettes today even though I quit last week.

I'll look into this, thank you

You say it would never be where your bra is - there is less than 3 inches between 'crease' which forms when bending side ways and where my bra sits. A combination of a very short torso and very big boobs I would imagine!

Good points raised about where the navel is one individuals dependent on what you've been through!

I really don't see what they are basing it on at all, if BMI is based on height, weight and sex but is irrelevant to this then where do they get 31.5" from? Makes no sense does it? I'm not even close to underweight yet yes but I meant if I were to lose the 40ish pounds it could possibly take to reach 31.5" (based on lbs…

I agree with all the metabolic biochemistry above! My input would be: if you're going to drink then drink something low carb! Dry white wine (the drier the better) and 'clear' spirits with no added sugar mixers are the lowest carb around.

I just quit four days ago. I joined a gym (no x-long contract) so I could go whenever I felt like to take my mind of smoking. Turns out I've been there every night since joining, even if only for 30-45 minutes. I don't plan to do it forever but for the next few weeks it should: - help elivate my mood - wear me out to help…

For anyone else interested this in an article in a UK newspaper today. Though its not a scientific study it is a first hand account. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3691808/Quitting-carbs-saved-life-Cancer-victim-given-months-live-refuses-chemo-claims-diet-meat-dairy-s-alive-two-years-later.html

I spent a week in spain at the end of last month. I had little to no internet to logand count carbs. i researched the local cuisine to build a mental larder of what was low carb friendly. We were visiting family so there was a mix of groceries at 'home' and eating out. If you're buying any 'supplies' I'd recommend stocking…

Thank you for the resource! Much appreciated!

Thank you! That I should ready is really good to hear! If MFP has taught me anything its that preparation is key! I’m banking on filling my evenings with exercise to wear me out and have early nights. Any spare time will be spent having my evening meal. I’ve even planned some activities for the weekend like going to the…

Don't give up! You can do this! x

Thank you so much :) This community is really awesome!

I'll look into this, I plan to start on the first of next month so ordering and doing some preparation reading it a good idea! Thank you :)

Thank you! That's really pushed me in the right direction! Thank you for the motivation!

Congrats on 15 months!! My downfall most recently was alcohol too! Alcohol and sloppy logging - should have logged before I had the first glass!

I think 'easier' comes down to attitude and mind set. Vegetarian/Vegans seem to be better catered for. So do low fat eaters, sugar/salt watchers and calorie counters. Most restaurants provide at least one Vegetarian/Vegan option and it will be noted by symbol etc. on the menu. I’ve been to a number of restaurants that have…

Your diary is missing numerous days and has some, what appear to be, part days. Are you still counting calories? Most people find it difficult to over eat on LCHF but there are a number of people who do. If you're not logging 100% you wont know your calorie intake, LCHF has a number of benefits but its calories in vs…
