  • I'm losing 1/2 pound a week. You're going at lightning speed
  • I have not logged all my life and look where that has got me. So I log now. Everything. To me the log has become my "mother". That tiny voice that keeps me accountable. I honestly don't know how people do it if they don't log. As far as I'm concerned you either log every single thing or there is no point in logging…
  • I figure on about 5 months for every 10 pounds.
  • I personally think it is a matter of getting distorted tastes. Since I have been eating differently, the things that used to taste good are often way too sweet or salty and don't taste as good anymore.
  • I have very muscley calves and it has always annoyed me. When I started working out I was concerned my legs would get even bigger because I do a lot of leg based activities- walking, biking, dancing. To my surprise, when I pulled out my winter boots last December, I actually had to tighten all the buckles on the calves. I…
  • I log everything no matter what. So even if friends or circumstances tempt me I have my own inner motivation plus that external accountability to MFP.
  • I think weight loss is more about what goes on in your mind than what goes on in your body.
  • I have learned that my mind is a very interesting place. I have learned that I often think I want things that I don't actually want. And I often think I don't want things that I actually do want. I have learned that cravings and feelings pass like the weather and it is necessary to make decisions independently of them.…
  • My advice would be to start by not calling your belly disgusting lol. Your body just did an amazing job for you! Other than that - use the app to set reasonable, sustainable goals. Be in a calorie deficit most days. Good luck!
  • The thing that changed my problem for the most part - No impulse buying of junk food. If I buy it I want it to be a planned thing. If I do give in and buy it impulsively at the moment I realize I am gorging, I throw it in the garbage, or make it inedible. I used to have a mental block about throwing food away and then I…
  • Do you eat any beef or chicken? Have you ever noticed any difference in your health / weight / physical being when you practice your Lenten discipline? Good luck with your next six weeks! (btw - sausage and bacon do have carbs as well since they are processed meats.)

  • @Kiiibbb112253 I'm curious what other things you do eat during Lent besides the eggs you mentioned?

  • "We just have to have a LOT of eggs" It sounds like maybe you are doing low carb rather than no carb, since eggs do have carbs?

  • I used to always think about food. Think about food temptations, think about whether I should eat food, feel guilty about eating food, worry about how the food was adding to my weight. I just realized a couple weeks ago that when I started MFP I enjoy eating much more. I don't have many of those thought processes any more…
  • Perfectionism is more of a threat to your weight loss than 180 calories.
  • Picked up a bag of Fritos at the store. Reconsidered and put bag of Fritos back on the shelf. Didn't have t deal with feeling gross and having regrets.
  • Cheese has carbs. Not a lot but if OP truly wants no carb then cheese would not be included.

  • I recently learned there's actually a word for resurrecting long dead threads but I can't remember what it is
  • Beef, chicken, pork, fish. I think that's got it covered.

  • I can guarantee you that having a positive mindset 99% of the time is unrealistic. I don't see other people commenting on that part of your question, but I would be interested to see what other people think. My own experience has been that it is super important to make your lifestyle reasonable enough that you can carry on…
  • I have the same problem but recently had blood work done that included potassium levels and it was perfect. I have a theory that the MFP database isn't wry accurate with regard to micro nutrients. Low sodium V8 juice is also a great source of potassium
  • Peanut butter. I haven't banned it but I don't keep it in the house at all because next thing I know I will have eaten half the jar with a spoon.
  • I like any of the stuff by Jon Kabbat-Zinn. His writing is really accessible and practical.
  • I'm with you. I can't ride my bike because of the snowy icy roads and that is my favorite calorie burning activity. I have been plodding along since the beginning of December, trying to make my calorie goals, but definitely not as successfully as I did in summer. I still log every single thing though, so when I get out of…
  • You gained 40 pounds in two years. Why not lose 40 pounds in two years? Makes sense to me
  • Wow a lot of wisdom in these answers! Thanks for sharing!
  • My sister in law commented to me one day that two times in her life she had eaten to the point of feeling stuffed and gross. That comment was a wake up call for me. I used to do that every single day. Logging and tracking has meant that I rarely do that now - can't actually remember the last time. I sometimes wish I didn't…
  • You would have had to eat 8100 calories over maintenance for each of those three days. That sounds impossible to me. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next week
  • I don't do spin class but I ride my bike a lot in the summer. I was worried about my legs getting huge. But this winter I pulled out my nice boots for work which were usually a bit tight on the calves and I actually had to tighten the buckle as they were too loose. So I am more muscly, but smaller. Presumably that would…
  • I just got a flyer for Mandarin in the mail. It includes all the calories and I'm shocked. There is a combo platter for one that has 2590 calories. That is my calories for TWO DAYS! I think my estimates in the past have been off.
