Barcod
I saw a comment somewhere that the barcode scan is not necessarily an accurate reading of that food item, it is just a tool for looking through the database more quickly. Is that true? I have been taking it as god’s truth.

Rice
Does nutrition information for rice mean for cooked or uncooked? Makes a big difference for 1/4 uncooked or cooked 😳 and it doesn’t specify

Fitness Blender
I just started doing some of these videos and I think I will enjoy and use them a lot. I was wondering about the calorie burn calculations. It’s awesome how they give you a running total. But it is given as a range and in wondering how to know the right number for me and my workout. I figure I’ll just go with the lowest…

Why is it so seductive?
I lost 40 pounds with MFP and have maintained it for a few years now. I found MFP super simple, in/out/ live your day. Love it! But today I got an email from some company about eating to your hormone needs. “Don’t worry about counting calories. Never over-exercise again!” And there was a lpart of me that was drawn to pay…

Running
Is there an app or website where you could run an imaginary route across the country? So every time you ran five k for example, you coul d plot it as being 5 k further along a 1000 k route- not for real, but just for imaginary/ motivational fun?

C25K week 5
What is this?!?!?! It escalates every day! And more than doubles the running time on day 3! How am I supposed to do this??

Calories
How are calories even determined? Is there some kind of formula? A microscope that can see and count them? A mad professor in a lab doing calculations on a slice of bread?

Weekly calorie average
Just curious how people track their weekly averages. Last Saturday I sailed way past my goal and was over by about 700 calories, so all week I have been doing an extra 100 deficit so it would average out to be on track. I just realized that next Saturday when the extra 700 falls off the record, I will actually appear to be…

Bananas
Does anyone know if the nutritional information for bananas is for the weight of a peeled or unpeeled banana?

Vanity sizing
Many moons ago, when I was tiny, I wore size 6 jeans. I recently bought a pair of size 6 jeans although I weigh about 30 pounds more than I did in the old days of size 6. I’m sure this is an issue of vanity sizing. But I’m wondering if I buy pants that are waist size 27, is that still the same as long ago? Is 27 inches…

Interesting mind switch
I have been in a bit of a slump lately- frequently going over calories, just feeling less motivated. I decided on the weekend to switch over to maintenance for a couple of months as I needed a break and I am also conscious that it will be harder to keep up with my workouts as winter settles in. So I adjusted my goals to…

Hormones stored in fat
I've read before that estrogen is stored in fat cells and I started wondering what happens to the estrogen (or other things stored there) when fat cells are lost. Anybody know about this?

I just realized
Most of my adult life I have had mental struggles with my food. Craving things, going back and forth in my head about whether I should eat something, wanting seconds, feeling guilty, promising myself to change this or that, feeling disgusted and engaging in terrible negative self talk. I just realized that by logging all…

How much weight have you lost :D

For those of you who re-gained weight
There are a fair number of posts on here that are along the line of - I lost a whole bunch of pounds and then regained most of it and now I'm back. I'm wondering if you would mind to reflect on what happened that you regained the weight? Was there a problem with your original weight loss plan? Was there a problem with…

Is there a summary of exercise?
I was just curious about how many yoga classes I went to in the last year and wondered if there is any tool that calculates something like that or how many minutes biked etc?

Curious about very low calories
I was just wondering if there are any people on MFP who do very low calories who have done it for a long time or successfully reached goals that way. My (totally unsubstanstiated) hypothesis is that people whose goal is to net less than 1200 either drop out or change their goal quickly. Sincere question, no judgement.

Just checking in . . .
I know a number of people moved to maintenance or stopped logging over the holidays. I did and just got back to it last Monday. It's been a bit of a challenge, but also a relief to get back to a more disciplined routine. I thought I would just check in with others and see if you have gotten back to it or challenge you to…

Trending weight?
I see people talk about weight trending apps. Are these different than MFP Reports? I use the Reports tab to track my weight and it shows the downward trend so I'm not sure if I need to bother with an app?

Doing the math
I figure it has been about 23 years that I have been slowly gaining weight and have gotten to the place I am now. If I were to take 23 years to reverse the process and get back to my goal weight, it would require me to have a 20 calorie deficit every day. If I were to do it ten times faster than that, I could do a calorie…

Body Flow at Goodlife
Just wondering if people have thoughts on how many calories to log for a Body Flow class? Good Life advertises that you burn up to 390 per class, MFP says about 240, which is probably more accurate since it takes my stats into consideration, and yesterday I wore a FitBit to class and it said 110. I think it might be best…

Revising for Winter
I pick my exercise activities because I love doing them: biking, walking, kayaking, gardening and I have had great motivation and success . . . while the weather has been warm. But the temperatures are dropping and I won't be doing most of those things much longer. So I'm contemplating how I will probably move to the…

Why do I care about that number so much?
I have lost weight. I know that I am faster, stronger, have more endurance, more energy. I have had to punch extra holes in my belt and my clothes feel very different. But when I weigh myself if that number hasn't changed or has gone up, I get so discouraged I feel like giving up. I have to talk myself through it. I don't…
