I have serious calorie envy!
-
Yes, I agree low carb and low sugar works, as long as it puts you into a calorie deficit. And exercise is just another way to get that deficit, it's beneficial for many reasons but not actually required for weight loss. Just to reiterate, the important thing is a calorie deficit - how each individual gets that deficit and…
-
OP, I'm glad you found what worked for you, but please stop projecting your method as right for everyone. Physiologically, it would work for everyone as you have created a deficit, however you have not taken the psychological factors into account. Personally, and from what I've read on the forums, a lot of other mfp-ers…

Anything is evil if over consumed - sugar and carbs are not a problem unless you have certain medical issues, ie diabetes.
-
If that theory was true, then I lost 60lb by magic...
-
So you haven't been using a food scale up to now? Without a food scale you've not been counting calories, you've been estimating them. Even if you use measuring cups you're probably eating more calories than you think.
-
I have eaten breakfast probably twice since last summer and lost 61lb. The timing of meals makes no difference, just the total calories consumed in a day. And your metabolism keeps going all the time, unless you're dead, so ignore that myth!
-
Log it and move on. Stuff happens, can't help getting sick, and when you're under par the calorie counting can get pushed to the side. I ate 800 calories worth of shortbread yesterday - total anxiety eating because I was waiting for potentially scary test results. The scales showed an increase this morning but I can't…

If he's going to pout because he doesn't get to feed you, he'll have to find a way of coping with it. His feelings are not your responsibility and you cannot 'make' someone feel bad. I would offer a brief explanation that you don't want it, but thank you, and that if he really wants to buy you something a non food related…

When you're secretly glad that dinner plans have been cancelled because it would have been impossible to log it accurately. When you make social plans just for drinks and not dinner so you can stay on track!

I've lost 61lb with almost zero exercise (other than riding my horse which burns very minimal calories). This is also about the zillionth time I've lost weight, and I'm not stupid - so neither are you!!
-
For me, the thought that I know if I stuck to my calories I'll be rewarded with a downwards whoosh on the scales when my period ends! I love seeing that!
-
See a doctor. The back pain combined with being 11 days late for your period means there is nothing anyone on the Internet can help you with. Seriously. Doctor.
-
I've lost 61lb (14lb to go) and have gone down a few back sizes from 40 to 32, but still a G cup. Really hoping the girls shrink a little, at 5'1" I don't want to end up looking like a cartoon!!

Naked bars! Not sure if they're just a UK product but they're sooooooo good!
-
I either must be really lucky or I'm just selective in what I hear! The only slightly negative comment has been "go on, one won't hurt you" when I declined a biscuit/cookie. But I said no and that was it. All my friends and family have said nothing but good things. In fact just this evening one of my horse riding buddies…

Totally normal. I see no change in the scales from the day before my period til about 3 days after, then a huge drop.
-
Well done to you too, amazing work! I don't pick up the wrong size in shops, but I take size 8's into the changing room thinking "there's no way this will fit, it looks tiny!" Then I'm shocked that it does! It's definitely taking a while for my brain to realise my body has shrunk!
-
I'm only 5'1 though and an hourglass figure, so big boobs and bum - I think that has something to do with it!
-
Yes, I'm so confident that's this time I've not kept any of my old clothes once they no longer fit - the local charity shop has done really well out of it!
-
Never. I work the foods I like into my weekly menu and calorie allowance. I'm not on a diet so there's nothing to cheat on.
-
By weighing every day I get a better amount of data to make sense of what's happening. Only weighing once a week/month would just give me a snapshot of what I'm losing and a less clear picture of the fluctuations. Another vote for the happy scale app - great way to see trends over time.

Eat at maintenance while you're ill.

Yesterday I managed to mount my horse from the ground - no mounting block required! No way could I have done that a while ago, I couldn't have got my leg up to reach the stirrup, or managed to haul myself up! Yesterday I just hopped right up!
-
If you don't exercise you can't lose weight. Said to me by someone who exercises like a crazy thing but never loses weight...while my fairly sedentary self drops lbs!
-
Oh honey, it sounds like you're really struggling. Huge kudos for trying to do something about it. Have you thought about therapy? It sounds like there may be something behind the binging (I say this because I recognise some of my old behaviour in your post) that isn't just going to go away. If food is a coping strategy…

@hhazzouri makes a good point though - the hidden oils etc are still impossible to know. But if you want to do it, do it! As a number crunching geek I'd be interested to see what you find out!

Urgh duplicate

I wouldn't. 1. I want to learn how to eat out in a manner I can sustain forever - I won't be taking a scale every time I eat out so I'm not doing it now. 2. I want to enjoy the time with the folks I'm with, focusing on the scale and numbers would take my attention from them and I want them to feel they matter to me.

You can only be responsible for what you eat. However much he says he wants to lose weight, if he caves and gets a take away that's on him, you can't fix it or make him change. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll be rewarded by the results! And maybe if he sees you getting great results he'll want to join you! Keep…
