I used to record in stone/pounds but mfp recently changed it so you can't add a fraction of a pound, ie, 9 stone 2.5lb wasn't possible. I now input in pounds only, then change the setting back to stone/lb so it makes sense to me!

It sounds like you know what you need to do, if you've been on mfp a while, but you're struggling to actually do it. I have also battled with my weight my whole adult life, tried every fad going, but it wasn't until I started having therapy (I'm training as a psychotherapist myself) that I got my head straight and was…

When you have the noroviris and actually think it'll at least help the weight loss! Gotta be some silver lining to puking that much....!
-
To give a little hope to those hour glass folk... I had exactly the same problem - had to wear a belt with everything because my waist was so much smaller in proportion to my bum and thighs, and I was buying larger tops than I needed because my boobs were huge! I had a great waist but could never show it off because the…

Yes. If you are accurate and consistent, over time you will see results. This has been answered in all your previous posts, I'm not sure what else can be said.

OP, this really resonates with me! I'm only 2lb heavier than my mum who has always been active and slim and my brain still hasn't caught up! I still catch my reflection in mirrors and do a double-take. I guess it'll just take a while because I was fat for far longer than I have been slim.

The type of food you eat won't matter for weight loss, as long as keep to a deficit you will lose weight. You can still eat sandwiches and white rice! When you have that takeaway though you may be having a load of salt that is causing you to retail water therefore masking the fat you've lost. I'd recommend tracking your…

I agree with this^^^! Diets don't need jump starting - that's for car batteries. Just put your stats on here, eat food you like within your calorie budget and be persistent. An all protein diet will probably make you really constipated, not to mention all the nutrients you miss out on from other foods. There's no need to…

Oh good grief, that makes me mad! Making money by lying about how you lost the weight, basically pimping herself out!! Garghhh!
-
I feel your pain! It's people making money out of it that makes me so damn furious!
-
Oh, you could have so much fun with that! Have you told her how many carbs are in vegetables?! I don't quite trust myself not to say something extremely sarcastic so I'm letting it all out here instead!
-
I will! I get that the meal replacement shakes just give her less calories so she's in a deficit, but I'd love to hear some of the broscience about the body wraps!
-
Yikes, really?! I've put a couple of pics on Facebook but I don't think even she would be daft enough to pinch them - I see her every week and she knows I'd rip her to shreds! I was not above considering these scams back in the day when I didn't know any better, but I've read enough on here now to be able to spot woo at a…

I did reply asking for some information on how it works....strangely had no reply!! I'm just going to keep doing mfp, look hot and awesome, and wait.
-
Not yet, although considering the shameless marketing she was doing I doubt it'll be long!

I weigh everything except celery and cucumber. I lost around 30lb without weighing, just eyeballing portions and choosing healthier foods but eventually the weight stopped coming off. When I joined mfp and started weighing food, the losses began again. I'm a 5'1 female and my wiggle room is just too small to guess…

Clearly a troll. Of course eating nothing will cause you to lose weight. Anorexics use the same method.
-
The % of your macros doesn't matter for weight loss - calories are the only thing that count. However I find that a higher % of protein keeps me fuller for longer, which helps keep me from over eating therefore sticking to my calorie allowance. If you like plenty of carbs you can still have them, if you'd rather have less…

I currently live with my mum while I do my MSc and although she's not my significant other, we still eat together. She's one of those 'naturally thin' people who has never really needed to lose weight but does try to eat healthily for the most part. When I first started mfp I had already lost about 3 stone without any…

I haven't changed my long term goal of 9 stone (126lb), but I have set myself mini goals along the way to keep it interesting. I started at 14 stone 4lb, so my first goal was to break the 14 stone barrier. After that I was looking towards 13 stone 4lb - 1 stone gone! And that's continued all the way along. I love breaking…

I loathe the slimming world method for exactly this reason!! It teaches a person nothing about portion control and makes weight loss far more complicated than it actually is. Not to mention demonising some foods by having a 'syns' allowance! Garghhhhh!!!!! End of rant.

If you really don't want to go to maintenance, I would set your deficit to the minimum - so 0.5lb per week loss. I've not had surgery, but I've been ill, and your body doesn't really know the difference, just that it needs to heal. Edited to add, you may see an increase in the number on the scales as your body replenishes…

One meal on one day isn't going to hurt - as long as you stick to one portion. I agree, have a guess but log something then move on. If you've got the hang of this at home and you're seeing results, this really isn't significant in the overall scheme of things. Oh, and enjoy the time with your friends - that's calorie…

That seems like an enormous deficit, unless you are morbidly obese and under doctors supervision. Could you give us some more information? What is your height/weight? How long have you been trying to lose weight for? How do you measure your food?
-
I always think "the time will pass anyway, may as well put it to use". In a years time you could be 52lb lighter (if you need to lose that amount) or you could be exactly where you are right now, still.
-
Although this was the first planned break, I did have 2 months of what I thought was a plateau where I maintained. This was before I discovered mfp and I wasn't counting calories, so I suspect I was actually eating at maintenance.
-
Thanks for that. I knew it wasn't a real gain - that wouldn't have been possible - but having never got to the stage of needing to maintain I'm unfamiliar with how the fluctuation disappears. I'm going to keep on with the deficit a little longer for now but I'm only on a 0.5 loss per week so I'll probably have another…

No suggestions for actual models, mine is old and a bit annoying! Based on the sources of the annoyance, I would recommend getting one big enough that you can put a dinner plate on it without the plate obscuring the display and that the buttons aren't too close together. I'm frequently changing mine from grams to fluid oz,…

I suspect this. Although I don't agree that it's a good idea. I also think that doctors believe it won't be adhered to rigidly, so advise a lower calorie goal to account for the extra calories that the patient will probably consume.

And I'm embarrassed to be from the same country. We UK folk can spell, honest! I even know the difference between your and you're because I'm very clever.
