  • About what? Extended pub lunch tours? I don't remember it being like that at all.
  • I use both, MTB and a botch job fixie from a run off the mill 70's frame. I got front brakes; hilly and I weigh 240. It is a dangerous combination, using freewheeling and fixie at the same time. Not once it twice have I forgotten which bike I'm on. With the fixie it usually means a good distance flying in the air.
  • I'm sorry, how is that even possible? In every relationship I've been, the night headaches have strongly correlated with gaming: end of gaming. I'm jealous.
  • My work jeans, awesome in their worn out more patches than original denim look, haven't stayed up even with a belt for some time. Yesterday they literally fell of, and while leaning over to pull them up again, I ripped my favorite t-shirt shoulder to shoulder.
  • We're going to need a follow up on this. you know that, right?
  • Nothing. Was the point.
  • The easiest way to avoid fish burps is to get the oil (I only use cod liver oil) unflavored and in a bottle. It's cheaper and tend to be better quality oil for lack of tricks to mask rancidity. It also feels more healthy because of the disgust factor. Placebo+ Just like unsalted butter is better quality to salted.
  • What about the peeps still waiting to find the time to catch up? It only takes an accidental glimpse to see who got wasted. Especially now when they're starting to deviate from the god awful last books.
  • For some weird reason these are not necessarily mutually exclusive. She'll be fine, as she's not committing to more than the next village at a time. And it will be miserable.
  • It's because they know it adds to the time until the ez-bar is free.
  • Yeah, she did mention in the end to keep the rear on the bench. I had something like this in mind when I was whining
  • For somebody not competing, or training to compete, what is the advantage in using a technique not aiming to maximize recruitment or range? Genuine question.
  • I wanted to say that feet on the bench makes it easier not to arch your back. I dislike the habit. The lemmings comment was pointing at people who do it because everybody does it, and leave it at that. I also wanted to convey that arching one's back excessively is not necessary, and somewhat artificially adds weights to…
  • You're welcome. You can PM for more pointers if you feel like, I enjoy being knowledgeable. It's UK, but as long as it doesn't pour down from day one, you should be ok. Edit: I'm metric by birth, but how come you are?
  • Feet on bench is an aide for people who can't not arch, or lemmings. Arching is cheating for a given value of cheating. Solution: don't arch and keep the bench clean. I'm sure some machine manufacturer somewhere has designed a bench with injection molded foot holds complete with oversized straps.
  • One more, probably the most important one. If you get your feet wet, it becomes a grind. Even a little moist will kill your soft supple feet in four days. Don't do it in the monsoon season. With that in mind, make sure you can change your socks at least once every day. Lightest possible shoes, so that you get them dry…
  • I got mildly exited for you. The game changes a bit with distances that long, especially when it is something new to your body. There's a plethora of small things you can do to help ease the grueliness of it all. Off the topic my head: Wear nothing new. Everything should be worn and tested to the hilt. Drink like there's…
  • And that you need to run occasionally, walk backwards, on your hands, anything to break the monotony for your legs.
  • I forgot to say that you should do it. Just be mentally prepared to back off. 25 miles four days in a row is no joke.
  • You can do it no problem. Even in bad shape and no real prior training for those distances. There is a caveat though: you won't be comfortable, and probably wont be walking straight for a week. As a full on hike with tens of pounds of gear in your back, not feasible outside x-games or military, but with just safety gear,…
  • I would lean towards lifting heavy with low volume. I'm assuming you're not dropping cardio. With lower volume and heavier weights, peak stress will be higher and your body won't be as flippant about dismantling muscles even in deficit. Also, I personally think that it's easier to keep an eye on actual progress or regress…
  • How many of us actually lower the bar down in full control, instead of just sort of follow it down? Plenty possible to cheat a little and exhale on the way. You have to breathe between pulls, or you'll keel over eventually.
  • Do you do your sets without resetting the lift between pulls? That could easily mean you don't breathe between pulls. Even without knowing.
  • Blacking out, or nearly so is pretty commonplace in deads. I will second just about everybody here and shake my head at that work load. Switch dead to end and drop some work. Did I understand you deadlift three times a week at those reps and RM%
  • Yeah, 40 and lifting with a deficit. Most of the day's a very large deficit. I'm still packing on lost muscle mass, and my weight hasn't moved in five weeks. I lift 3x5 three times a week, and burn brobably 5000-6000 kcal on the weekends just by building stuff, though I don't log those days and eat everything in sight. I…
  • Only way to eat your oats is raw with whole milk and a shitload of sugar, measured in bowls. I have to buy multigrain porridge mix because of this looming risk. The rye is _nearly_ impossible to eat raw. Mixed dry with nut butter; raw in a smoothie, cooked; dollop of butter, any cultured dairy, berries. Switch to barley,…
  • Quite impressive. That's like a constant output of close to two hp. I've been slightly paying attention to the numbers MFP is giving me in activities, and they seem hopeful at best. I did 'gardening' yesterday. Well, three hours of shoveling soil non-stop with a deadline. I wouldn't have wanted to log close to 3000 kcal,…
  • A typical sized athlete can produce about 0.5 kW - give or take - of steady state power. Add some BMR and and it comes to about that number, yes (600 kcal). 0.5 kWh is an awful lot of power output from something that's basically a watery light bulb. Skating is vigorous if you make it so, but that's not something that…
  • I'll try all these and report back. Flavor enhancers will be added.
