Woo-hoo!!!!

@bonsmom Thanks! You look fantastic! There is hope :)

Empty calories, artificial ingredients- knock yourselves out! :) I was just visiting your planet from a parallel universe. I'm going home now. Enjoy!

I see. If you're looking to gain fat, Oreos are definitely a good choice. Thanks for clarifying.

ok- at the risk of being flamed: how does this discussion help everyone attain their fitness goals exactly???

I like getting my protein from natural sources. I used to have trouble, too- but now have it narrowed down to a few favorites that are easy and chock full of protein: Trader Joes' Simply roast turkey (their "simply roasted chicken" is good, too- although both are higher in sodium than I would like). A real calorie:protein…

To me, it always just seemed like a very expensive pedometer.

Actually, next time show them the test results and ask THEM to get THEIRS done- because you are worried about THEIR health and obesity. GO ON THE OFFENSIVE!
-
I would LOVE to see that. There was actually a class action lawsuit against companies that produce farm raised salmon b/c they failed to disclose that they add artificial colorant.

Also perfect advice for weight loss!

Priorities. I never go *anywhere* w/out packing a snack. If I "have to" go out, I choose places to go that have good options & plan them out in advance. No one can "make" you eat what you don't want to. Where there is a will, there is a way. This looks like a farmer's market (?) If this somewhere you go on a regular basis,…

This is all FANTASTIC advice- and I agree with it 100%- EXCEPT #10. I have lost 29lbs since Jan 1 and honestly- I have NEVER NEVER NEVER felt hungry. In fact, I have had days when I have to FORCE myself to eat more to get my calories in. You have to do what works for YOU and choose foods that YOU like- as the above poster…

I don't eat stuff that's so hard to track. You could ask them how many ounces of chicken they put in. Just glancing at it, I'd put it down for 2 (flour or corn?) tortillas, 4TBS pesto, 4TBS cream cheese, 6 oz of chicken- and however much chesse (?). I wouldn't worry about the lettuce/tomatoes. Once in a blue moon something…

My best advice: KEEP IT SIMPLE to start. All you have to know for now is that you need to eat fewer calories than you burn every day. As soon as you're in a "calorie deficit", you will lose weight! It really IS that easy- and MFP makes it fun & easy to figure out how many calories you should eat & to track your calories.…
-
PS- the above is assuming that you don't do any exercise. You could always just "earn back" the extra calories that you want to eat on the 7th day- and in that case, you could just use the figure it's giving you to lose .5 lbs a week and eat that number (1590 cals) 6 out of 7 days. On the 7th day, eat your maintenance…
-
By my calculations, assuming that the figure of 1840 calories per day to MAINTAIN your weight is accurate: A. 1840 x 7 = means you need 12,880 calories per week to maintain. If you want to lose .5 lbs, you need to have a deficit of 1750 cals per week. Therefore you have a TOTAL CALORIE "budget" of **11,130** (12,880-1750)…

Oh- and by promoting "sugar free drinks" they are likely to sway parents to give their children ARTIFICIAL sweeteners- which are worse than sugar- some have even been shown to affect brain development.
-
I think this is a great campaign- EXCEPT that new research says that "low fat" is NOT good- especially for children!
-
This is not only about this one product. It's an epidemic. People are very concerned about their weight here in the US- yet I'm willing to bet that we have a higher obesity rate than anywhere in the world. Why is that? Everyone's buying "low fat", "low carb", "gluten free"- etc, etc, etc- yet we as a nation are suddenly…
-
This is what I mean when I say that labeling laws outside the US are much more consumer-oriented and much less susceptible to marketers trying to exploit loopholes to mislead the public. This is *exactly* what we need here.

Wow- thanks so much. What an inspiring story and an INCREDIBLE accomplishment. My hunch is that the hormones also help quite a bit. Thank you for sharing.
-
First, congrats on achieving your goal. That is a huge accomplishment. That said: You were BEAUTIFUL in the first picture- with just a little "pudge" to lose. My honest opinion is that in the second photo you look too thin. 114 is the very lowest recommended weight for a woman 5'5"- and that is for a SMALL frame.…
-
It takes a deficit of 3500 calories to lose 1 lb. If you want to lose .5 lbs a week, you would only need a 1750 calorie deficit FOR THE WEEK. As long as your calories over the WEEK come out to a total deficit of 1750, it should work.

I love the way you think :)

Unless the "bowl" was several quarts...? :)
