I do know I have to cut out ALL alcohol, ALL fried foods, ALL sugar (within reason)... Seems as if I need to be a drill sergeant if I want to see any results. I really don't know how to do this, but I'm so sad and uncomfortable in my own skin every single day.
I think you may not have to cut out All…

I am trying to gain muscle (and not get thicker, but leaner). It’s a slow road...

Happy summer everyone! I can’t get over how summer has thrown my schedule a bit into craziness 🤪. My husband isn’t traveling (which he usually does), my kids don’t have school and it’s making me sooo busy... how is everyone else’s transition to summer going?

I used to have too much wine and then snacks... so now mainly I have tea. But I had to find one I really liked. I love bengal spice tea by celestial seasons. I also keep a stash of dark chocolate (highly suggest the Lindt dark caramel with sea salt, it’s really yummy and it’s a nice hit of salt without being salty — which…

I’d add weight lifting, but that’s just from my experience with turning 40 (so it may not be the same for you). I just felt like I couldn’t get the weight off and my weight was fluctuating a lot. I added weight lifting and it’s taken some trial and error (I’m 42)... and I’ve lost interest/motivation and then gotten it back…

I love all of her recipes too! I think my favorites are the Mexican cauliflower rice and lasagne soup.

@AgileK9 I hear you about the calories... I’m at 1500 but I don’t eat calories back (as often as I can not) bc 1200 is tough. Most of the time I don’t even log my exercise bc I don’t want to eat those calories... I have to trick myself (facepalm lol). Good luck!

@HoneyBadger155 maybe try some of those sheet tray meals where you make 3 diff kinds of chicken on one plate and toast the veggies on another tray. I think they put the different chickens on aluminum foil. You could do a Greek, fajita and teriyaki maybe to keep some variety... good luck, that does sound like a tough…

@cjack19 told me about the book btw!

I’ve just started reading eat.lift.thrive. And she talks a lot about food and how we try to eliminate so much when really we should be monitoring calories. Of course that means we have to eat nutrient dense ‘healthier’ foods but it also means we have to eat in a way that we can sustain for our lives (not just a diet…

I clicked join but I’m not sure what next :)

@abbyjack2 I agree with measuring advice and I think sometimes it takes a little to get going. I know it was a slower start for me to losing weight now (being in my 40s) than when I was younger. I think exercise is a good idea but again for me, losing weight is 80% diet... and alcohol derails my success most of the time…

These are really great, thanks!

I was doing the snacking while making dinner a lot, the little bites adding up so right now I do baby carrots and cucumbers a lot when I’m feeling that way. I really love chips and baby carrots give the crunch I want k think... bread is hard. When I want bread it’s a tough thing to substitute...

I do this too. Now I’m trying to plan a really good treat meal into my schedule, that way I’m not feeling like I’m missing...

I liked Lou schuler’s new rules for weightlifting for women. It has really good lifting plans. I went through it once but I’m doing something a little different now. Highly suggest it tho!

Thanks!!! I will definitely check this out!

I just read an article recently that with lots of cardio or super hard crazy workouts your body will compensate by burning less calories other times. This may not at all be whats going on here, but when I read it, it reminded me. Maybe try lifting for a few weeks with shorter HIIT cardio time. (Which is that short but hard…

So funny! I hate fake sugar of any kind. No less sugar drinks for food— ick.
