Recumbent exercise bike today, needed the stress relief. Thankfully there wasn't a bucket of ice cream around. I would have jumped into that instead of the gym.

Walked a total of 5 miles plus restrained from eating all the pound cake with strawberries.

No one has really asked me that yet, but when I mentioned I had lost my first 10 lbs, a friend of mine stated that it was noticeable. So I've got that goin' for me.

Down 0.6 lbs for the week. Was hoping for at least one pound. Identified part of the problem, I incorrectly entered the recipe I used for my lunches this week and it caused me to underestimate my daily calories by about 350 cal per day. That and I simply ate too much on a couple days. Thankfully I was at least still under…

Tried a new routine to impose some order on my body weight training instead of just doing what seemed like a good idea for that day. I also added some kettle bell exercises as well. Need to fine tune the details, but was very happy with it. :)

My third son had a habit of running around the house saying, "Dad is fat! Dad is fat! Dad is fat!" Out of the mouths of babes, right? I don't make different meals. If it's something they like, I eat enough to stay in my goal for the day and stop. Other nights I figure if it's good enough for me, it's good enough…

I'll be 41 next week. Really let myself go after (ok, a little before) I retired from the Army. Then I saw a picture of myself. I dropped some weight with half-assed working out and kind-of portion control for about a year and a half but not enough. Started using MFP about two and a half months ago combined with finding a…

I have four sons and my wife doesn't get home until well after I do, so when I get home the routine is making sure homework is done, making sure chores were done, break up arguments, make dinner, feed kids, get kids ready for bed. By this time it is usually already around 8 or 9 pm. Then it's work on my college classes or…

I used to not eat breakfast, mostly because I would get a big one because I really like breakfast food then be falling into a food coma at around 9. When my doc got onto me about my cholesterol I started eating granola or oatmeal in the morning just to make sure I was consistently getting some fiber into my system. So, not…

It took me a couple weeks to not be hangry by the time I got home from work, but my body started adjusting to the smaller portions and not going back for seconds. It just took some time. I still have days where I want to eat all the things, but even those are getting easier to get through.

For me a bad day has more to do with why or how I consumed rather than how much I consumed. I've been on this for about 2.5 months now and have really been trying to focus on my habits and retraining my mind and body on why I eat and proper portion sizing. What I consider a bad day is when I realize I'm eating because I'm…

A couple nights ago I caught 14 Pokemon on an hour long walk. The incense helped a lot, especially on the walking trail that doesn't seem to spawn many of them. Managed to collect enough candy for my first evolution. Of them I caught an Arbok after it escaped three times, highest CP I've caught so far.

:( I think we all feel your pain on this one.

I see what you did there :)

I don't know that it's driving my routine, but on days I miss my lunchtime RL gym trip I'll go for a walk and catch some Pokemon on the way. There's a park about a mile and half away that has a good number of stops and a gym, so I can get some good distance in to help hatch those eggs.

San Angelo, TX. I've been using it to make my walks more interesting, but not much outside that (though I love games). Just hit level 5, leaning towards Valor for my team. Fridays should be more interesting too since I hang out downtown with my coworkers (of which several also play).

Did my weight check-in today, down 3.4 lbs! Less than 10 lbs to my first intermediate goal of 175 lbs.

How have not seen this thread before? My kind of peeps. :)

For me sometimes it helps to remind myself of why I'm doing this and even look at the before picture to kick myself in the rear and re-energize that "never-again" drive.

I see you like to live dangerously. I too, love food and beer.

Had some bumps over the weekend, though still logged even the disappointing days. Back on track now and just had a great session on the stationary bike at the gym. How's everyone else doing so far this week?

First off, congrats on the upcoming marriage. Early in my time in the Army I said something along the lines of "I hope to have x finished soon." My Platoon Sergeant jumped all over me. Taking out the expletives it boiled down to hope won't do anything. Create a plan, execute it, and stick to it while remaining…

Did my first weekly weigh-in on the new scale, down 1.4 lbs. So pretty much on track for one pound per week. Still working on rewiring my brain and body to what a proper portion is, but am sticking with it so far.

The only thing I regret about the beer is that I can't dodge a hangover like I used to!

Managed to not eat the cake at a friend's graduation party on Saturday. The beer? Not so much.

So, I got a new scale yesterday. Got on it this morning and confirmed what I was concerned with. My old scale was lying to me. So, instead of 175, I actually weigh 189 lbs. Rather disheartening and frustrating, but not insurmountable. So I guess my new intermediate goal is 175 lbs. Just gotta stick with the plan.

When it came to exercising, I finally had enough of my whining about not having time and decided that 30 minutes at lunch at least three times a week was better than an hour every second or third week. Comfort food is half the reason I ended up where I did. The past several years have been a stress roller coaster. Things…

I'm Barry, 40 (for a couple more months). I started trying to lose weight a couple years ago. I saw a picture from a friends wedding and was blown away by how big I had gotten. As a kid and through my 20's I was the kid who could eat a pizza, a quart of ice cream, and chase it with 2 liters of Coke and still be rail thin.…

All I know is that when I took my "before" picture, I had to make a conscious effort to not suck my gut in. Seeing the protrusion of flab was discouraging and motivating at the same time. I was thinking, "My God, how did I get this way," followed by, "I will get rid of this."
