  • @DancingMoosie That all makes sense, and I've heard good things about Stronglifts 5x5. Is this a program you have to do at a gym? If so, do any programs exist that can be done at home? Or is that pretty much out of the question for good lifting programs? Thanks :)
  • @sijomial Thank you for answering all my questions and giving some advice! Cardio daily currently is 30 minutes a day for me, but I used to do like 80 minutes a day. I do this much cardio because at one point in time I was obsessed with losing weight. I'm trying to cut back a bit now. I've heard cardio (in high amounts)…
  • @RoxieDawn thank you for the links and advice, I'm going to check them both out!
  • Thank you, means a lot! :)
  • Thank you for offering some perspective, it really helps, as I struggle with body image and obsessing over small things. I'm working on toning it up a bit, hopefully that helps. :)
  • I workout daily, doing a mix between running and using an elliptical. I also do some strength training on my arms and chest. I just started the strength training a few weeks ago, so I'm hoping that'll help with this. Thanks for the advice. :)
  • I was thinking the same thing. It feels like fat to touch as well, but when my mom said what she did, I couldn't help but think "what if" :P thank you for the input!
  • I wouldn't sweat the numbers. I know it's easy to get fixated on them, but it's more important to judge your healthiness on what you see and how you feel. You're in no way obese based on your picture! Just to put things into perspective, my father is a runner and he's also very, very muscular. He's a short guy who weighs…
  • I'm well aware of that. I've been a runner for five years, and I plan to continue running for as long as I can. I've never focused on building muscle definition, though, and I was curious about how long it takes for strength exercise results to begin showing.
  • I'd take the time to try and find better alternatives and work those into your lifestyle. For example, I love ice cream as well and a few months ago, my friend suggested I try something called 'Arctic Zero'. It's a low calorie ice cream. Maybe you can tell your husband to look for options like that next time he wants to…
  • That makes sense, I do worry at times that I'll never be happy with my body. I go to my mother about this and she doesn't think I need to lose more weight, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so still seeing fat on my body makes me feel as though I still have work to do. But that's a psychological issue I'm sure, not a…
  • I'm not trolling from an anorexia site. I never really thought to add a picture, but if I did, no one would think I looked anorexic.
  • I'm definitely going to look into finding a better fitting bra, as my current ones have always been a little too small. Thank you for this tip and also thank you to the others who stated it as well :)
  • It's saying I have a broad frame, which I'm assuming is bigger. I don't really have a goal weight, I just want to look thinner in certain places, such as my arms.
  • I do a variety of push ups, if that counts. Ultimately, I want skinnier upper arms. However, I've read online before that simply lifting weights and push ups and such won't make smaller arms, just muscle under fat, which is why I'm hesitant to tone down the cardio.
  • Thank you for the words of advice. I'm going to try and allow myself rest days and stay with 1500 calories a day. This may be a stupid question, but do we burn pretty much the same amount of calories a day? Like, for example, if I'm active most days, will I still burn the same (or close) on a less active day?
  • I suppose at this point I'm looking more to fix things I don't like that I still see instead of aiming for a number on the scale. For example, I have armpit fat and I want to get rid of it, so I know I still have weight to lose. That's my goal at the moment.
  • I think it could be TOM. I know for me personally, my weight always goes up around that time. About a week after its back to normal though. I wouldn't sweat it, like the others said, just continue eating at a deficit and you'll be okay. :) (P.S. if that's Aoba in your profile pic, I very much approve :P)
  • That makes sense. I eat 1800 calories to stick with the 500 less suggestion and to lose 1lb a week. Do you think it'd be smart to drop to 1700 now?
