  • Not the exact same mug (mine is larger with a lid) but my MIL bought me a mug with this saying on it for Xmas last year. Use it every day at work. :) https://i.etsystatic.com/8039844/c/1043/825/31/182/il/9fca90/1120732837/il_340x270.1120732837_a7ml.jpg
  • Anime nerd and cosplayer here. Just wrapped up Otakon with a cosplay of Nana Shimura from My Hero Academia. Also a novel nerd, so LotR and HP are big ones for me. Marvel is my jam, my friends and I try to get a D&D campaign going every once in a while.
  • My anime cosplay of Nana Shimura from My Hero Academia. :)
  • Finally a nerd thread. I'm primarily into anime, but also heavy into Marvel, Star Wars, etc. My first goal was to lose weight for my Otakon cosplay and I did it! Lost 30+ lbs and am officially, consistently under 200. Keto diet ftw. Now I'm just going for gold and a proper, healthy weight (plus for more cosplays next…
  • I've been doing keto for only about a month but I've seen amazing results for what little time I've had both in losing weight and in mood swings, hair growth, and bloating. Doesn't seem to be helping my regularity, but I wouldn't expect that much of a change just from diet. I'll be meeting with my doctor about that next…

  • I joined a Biggest Loser contest at work, so we weigh in weekly. I want some kind of 'data' to track while I lose weight so I can keep myself accountable instead of just going by how I 'feel'. I feel amazing, even if I gain weight instead of lose week-to-week (like this week), but I can consider the amount of strength…
  • Alternatively, I'll do cereal (Go Lean Crunch or Special K Protein) with almond milk (Blue Diamond's Vanilla Coconut Almond is amazing) and 1/2 cup of mixed frozen fruits (frozen fresh blueberries and raspberries are my go-to, but fresh strawberries and half a banana do well, too). Or a smoothie. 1/2 - 1 cup frozen mango,…
  • Scrambled eggs take not even 5 minutes to mix and make. Less time if you do sunny-side up. I make 2 eggs with the following scrambled in BEFORE I cook them: 2 tsp Light Ranch Dressing (instead of milk, makes them fluffy and adds amazing flavor), dashes of salt, white pepper, garlic, paprika, and powdered mustard. Cook…
  • If you're looking for help with cholesterol, then Green tea is a great option. Actual weight loss, not so much. IFL Science did a great infographic chart of gimmick 'super' health items, which ones are useful and which are BS, and what they actually help with in your body. Great resource if you're not sure if that…
  • Steak, avocado, and mashed potatoes. I could give up every sweet on earth to live off of these three things for the rest of my life. I even sneak half an avocado in my morning fruit smoothies.
  • Could you walk inside the building where you work? Even if you have to pass by people over and over, you might motivate others to join you over time. Do you drink enough water during your shift? I keep a 28 oz bottle at my desk and make sure to get through 2-3 of them a day, for 6-8 cups of water a day. How much could you…
  • As a PCOS girl myself, I suggest she goes to an OB/GYN and discusses her options with a doctor. Losing weight and keeping it off is definitely a daily effort with PCOS, but it's like that for everyone. She may need some medication to help keep her body balanced, and that doesn't just mean birth control. If she relaxes and…
  • MORE PROGRESS!!!!!!!! I did my weigh-in today and I lost 3.6 pounds since last week!!!!! I'm on a roll!
  • I'd suggest reducing calories or increase cardio. You might want to keep a closer eye on sugar and fat intake, too, and adjust that instead of calories. Also, how much water are you taking in on a daily basis? Make sure you're at 8-10 cups a day, or you might be retaining water.
  • I log every day! (Weekends are still a struggle, but I'm trying!)
  • Very true, soup is another great option, and usually again is only one pot needed. I made a pretty good Zuppa Tuscana copycat recipe I love to use on a lazy day. (If you've ever been to Olive Garden, you'll love this one, haha!)
  • One of my favorite quick and easy but low cal dinners is to make one-pan quinoa bowls. Cook one pound of lean meat (ground turkey, chicken breast, etc. - you don't have to do meat either, I'm just a carnivore by nature lol). Add at least twice that amount of veggies (you can make it Mexican, Italian, even Greek depending…
  • Thanks everyone!
  • I'd like some more buds. ^_^
  • I bought a plastic VOOS water bottle that I keep at my work desk. It's 28.75 oz, so about 3 cups of water. I drink at least 2 bottles a day and one during a workout after work, or 3 if I know I can't make my training that night. Boom, 8-10 cups a day every day. Weekends are a huge challenge, but I'm getting there. Frankly,…
  • You can add me! I try to post under 400 calorie recipes every once in a while and do 5Ks and strength training. This is definitely the best health improvement site I've ever used. I lost at least 20 lbs last time I was here, but life changes had me away for a while. Now I'm back to lose even more and keep it off. ^_^
  • Congrats on taking the next step (literally and figuratively)! I know a lot of people starting out walking are doing the C25K program. I haven't done it, but everyone I've seen who has loved it and had great results. http://www.c25k.com/ Me personally, I've been working with a trainer who taught me intervals on the…
  • A nice, basic glazed Krispy Kreme. If I can't get one, then a French cruller. Conveniently, those are the two most low cal donuts you can get your hands on, too. ^_^
  • I don't really regiment my calories by meal. I keep a close eye on my portions and food labels and just compensate per meal as the day goes by. But on average, I probably do 300-400 for breakfast, 200-350 for lunch, and wrap up the rest in dinner and an evening treat maybe. I do eat back most of my workout calories, which…
  • Congrats on the new job and getting back on the healthy life bandwagon! Haha! I'll try to keep up with you. I'm getting back on as well, have been back for 5 weeks now. I discovered intervals on the treadmill thanks to my trainer and now I'm getting big into walking/jogging and hopefully in the future, running 5Ks. I'm…
  • Awesome job! I had similar cardio problems for a long time. I've been doing intervals to increase my time and speed, and my cardio issues have virtually disappeared. Do you have any future goals? Mine is to do a 5K every Saturday. I have my third tomorrow. If you'd like some additional motivation or tips, I manage a 5K…
  • I'm still in the walking/jogging phase, but recently I've gotten to about 2-4 times a week. I'm doing a 5K a week challenge for myself, going on a charity 5K every Saturday morning to make it a real habit. My non-5K time is usually between 15 and 30 minutes, only because for a long time I had cardio problems and my legs…
  • Originally from and all my family is there, but I'm up in PA now with my hubby. Good cream of crab is still my weak spot, though. XD
  • Now THIS is my kind of motivational challenge! I'm in!
  • Weight gain vs loss can be frustrating, no doubt. I agree with the others here, it is likely just a natural fluctuation as your body adjusts to your new calorie intake. Make sure you're measuring your foods as accurately as possible. Watch your sodium, and make sure your water intake is also good. Dehydration can cause…
