  • At work I have had to leave my desk when I feel that tickle in my throat and I know it is going to be a coughing fit...whenyou try to suppress a cough when it comes out it sounds like you are choking to death:) There is a Xmas meeting and lunch here today at work but I amnot going I doubt people will appreciate eating…
  • I just had a chest xray in October, my dr. sends me for one every five years so not sure I want another. I have had trouble sleeping as I am coughing at times thru the night..I feel worse at night for sure.
  • I did have the flu shot in October.
  • Okay, I made an appointment with doctor today. I am sure it is just a cold but can't hurt to check it out.
  • Yes but these are people that like talking about personal stuff about themselves...as I stated I know all about their kids/pets/husband, etc. but they ask me nothing about my life. When I start to say something it seems like all of a sudden we are back on them.
  • Here is an example I was talking to a work friend yesterday and talking about popping in at lunch to visit my sister as her pet passed away the night before and she was upset understandably...so after lunch I was talking to this girl again and she did not say hey how did it go, she said nothing so towards the end of our…
  • I am surprised that a few folks would not be bothered by that...to me if something is going on with you whether it be good or bad and you tell a friend about it, would you not expect to be asked about it to see how things are going. To me that shows an interest and concern about others. SOrry but we all know people that in…
  • So went home at lunch and he had more energy than yesterday, he even ate something and drank some water. Yesterday he had zero interest in food. Should I still bring him in??
  • I know that is what makes it so tough, is if at least they could tell you:) With tomorrow being a Saturday and our regular vet not in, if he was worse I would probably end up taking him to the emerg vet so better to be safe than sorry. I hate when he is like this plus it is like he does not want to be around us!
  • Some of the pros of my job are: supervisor off site, not being micromanaged at all; work very close to home, decent pay and benefits. Some cons are: share office space with someone that I barely talk to which makes it awkward at times; hate my job tasks (got moved into a different steam of work about 3 years ago); and my…
  • I hear you, I feel depressed that my days of hiking now are probably pretty limited. It is the type of exercise that I don't need to psych myself up to do, if that makes any sense.
  • That is awesome if you can do that...I would tend to do the opposite and eat more LOL! I guess though each season has its advantages and disadvantages, summer sometimes it can be too hot and energy levels go down and winter the weather can wreck outdoor workouts.
  • I have been fully on board with eating less, exercising as often as I can since early October last year, so about 8 months now...what I have noticed is that if I have a less than great day eating wise I now do not use that as an excuse to blow the whole day or days or weeks, etc. I bounce back really quickly and get back…
  • Love hiking, walking, aquasize, steps, kickboxing
  • LOL...I agree! I personally hate the selfie thing...more and more of my "friends' do this and then you know they wait for all the compliments (you look hot/pretty lady/looking good girl, etc.) and "likes". So pathetic to me.
  • I was griping to a co-worker about how my supervisor, thinks if your husband makes decent money, why a woman would even work, and how ridiculous I thought that statement was...... So after I vented about this to my coworker who appeared to agree with me, she then says "so why do you work, your husband makes good money?"
  • Yes but I know if I ask her as I have asked her before she is so adamant on yearly screening but all the guidelines say different...it is confusing.
  • I am 48 and no family history of breast cancer, however my doctor has been sending me for yearly mammograms since the age of 40, I am now due for my 9th mammogram...I am starting to think do I really need to go...the guidelines I am reading state age 50 and up..and most women I know did not get their first one until age…
  • Don't get me wrong I don't dwell on it...just you hear stories like that and it makes you think about your own health, etc. Some other gals here at work that also worked with her it inspired them to go for checkups that they had been putting off.
  • Yes the dr. was saying that with a family history of colon cancer that they generally start testing about 10 years prior to when the family member was diagnosed.
  • Yes that lady that passed away with ovarian cancer she seemed healthy and then within a month of diagnosis she was gone...treatment was not even done it was so far gone. It kind of freaked me out because she was healthy, she exercised, and she had just gone for a yearly physical about 4 months before....
  • I have been going for mammograms yearly since I turned 40, no breast cancer in the family, but at the xray place they said that 60% of breast cancers of women in their 40s in our province, there was no family history. I don't enjoy those either...
  • I know PowerMan40, it is like it will give you some kind of peace of mind but at the same time what if they actually find something..but then it is like well that is why you are doing this because if something is happening better to find out when you are healthy/symptom free than down the road. How long did it take? They…
  • I brought it up because I was mentioning to her about a couple of people I know in the last six months that had cancer and had no symptoms prior and within a month or two they passed away and she said well if you are interested you can do this abdominal ultrasound....
  • I am curious why no mammogram? I should add that I am in Canada and there is no charge for any of this as it is part of our universal health care system.
  • Thanks all! I did express my concerns and was told to not worry about it...just do my best, etc. I know I tend to get anxious and work myself up. I think I am somewhat insecure in this position and keep imagining people thinking "wow when do the regular folks come back, soon I hope" I know that negativity can get into my…
  • Thanks for the link..I have bookmarked it.
  • Awesome...I will check those out! Thanks:) Like I said I am so tired of not living up to my potential...and just letting laziness or some lame excuse stop me.
  • I chose the .5 lb per week....I am okay with 2 lbs per month of loss..yes it might take me close to two years to lose the weight I want to lose but I can't nor have any desire to restrict myself..I know myself well enough that moment I try and do that it will backfire.
  • I know for me the reason I am 40 lbs overweight is for years I had an all or nothing mentality about eating..i.e. if I ate a tablespoon of something i considered bad that would send me on a bender for the rest of the day as I would think okay blow it today and start fresh tomorrow....only to have the same thing happen. I…
