Add me too. :)

If I can do it as a vegetarian, you can definitely do it without pork! Instead of looking at meal plans that are already set up telling you exactly what to eat, browse through Pinterest and some of the Keto/Low Carb websites and compile a bunch of recipes and make your own menu.

I usually go out to dinner at least once on the weekends and eat a few more carbs than usual. Since I usually try to go at least 16 hours without eating at least a few times a weeks, I just make sure that one of those days is after my "carbier" meal. I haven't had any problems yet, other than just feeling sluggish the…

I started taking magnesium a few weeks ago and wish I had discovered it years ago. I've had muscle cramps for years, especially noticeable back when I was trying to do yoga and hold poses - ouch. Those have disappeared this week and I've slept all night 3 times this week too! I have fibro, so sleeping all night is a huge…

I tried the SweetLeaf chocolate Stevia drops and to me, it tasted bitter. It would be great to hear from others who have been at this a while and already figured out which products taste great.

Right now I'm usually about 50 carbs a day. I find that I feel fuller if my carbs are closer to 20, but I have more energy when they're closer to 50. Just keep experimenting at different levels and find what works best for your body. I've lost weight at both numbers. Good luck!

If you are running and sweating a lot, your electrolites could be low. That would cause you to retain a lot of water. Try adding some extra salt and magnesium. (I know intuitively that seems counter productive, but it works - usually within a day or so to get rid of the extra water.) Avoid the sugary Gatorade type things…

Thanks!

@CeliaSea I am usually at least 50 short too. What is your recipe? If you really can't taste it, I'll try to be brave and try it even with the coconut

Great job!

I'm almost 5'4" and down 16 pounds since the end of May. I started at 147 and am now 131. I have a really petite frame and will probably need to lose another 10 lbs before I have much of a waist line or lose the big butt. I lost the same 5 pounds over and over, but this is the first time that I've tried to lose and not…

Sounds like I may need to try an Americano tomorrow. :) thanks

Before joining this group, it would never have crossed my mind to put anything in my coffee at home. I drink plain, black coffee all day and have since jr. high. The way a lot of people are describing how they make coffee sounds more like yummy deserts that I may need to try. On that note, is there anything or any way to…

@Sunny_Bunny_ Yes, I'm still hungry, but am also having a hard time getting my fat much higher than my protein intake. I was thinking that if I could get the fat higher, it might help jump start the weight loss again too.

@nvmomketo Oh how I miss Blizzards!

A nutritionist told me a long time ago to treat the wine as a "sometimes" desert. If you feel like you really want a drink (like after dealing with a particularly, cranky in-law - ;) ) just have a shot of vodka or tequila. Same effect but without the carbs.

SW - 147 CW - 133 GW - 120ish (petite frame) This weeks goal is to start lifting some light weights and try to find some muscle tone (poor sad, flappy triceps.) I really need to swap some of my coffee for water too.

@KnitOrMiss I'm in the same boat as you. I just don't like the taste of coconut, or even the smell of it, at all. I can still taste it in the refined coconut oil, just not as strongly. Thank you everyone for the suggestions for the fat bombs and for the advice on substitutions. I want to try them all!

Thanks everyone, those recipes look awesome! Does anyone know if you have a recipe that calls for coconut oil, can you substitute equal amounts of butter for it or is there anything else that works well?

My weight loss stalled when I was at 20 and I moved it up to 50 and started losing again. I seem to retain water if I go much higher so I think between 40 - 50 is my sweet spot right now too. The next time weight loss stalls again I will move it back down; it might be a moving target.

We have a whole house water filter that removes fluoride, use fluoride free toothpaste and don't get the treatments from the dentist. Results = my kids are 22 and 25 and have only ever had one cavity each. Fluoride can also cause fluoridosis which is a slight darkening of the teeth with white spots. From what I researched…

Great find. Thanks!

I have the same experience with Fibro and had great results with this diet (cutting out the processed sugar and wheat especially.) My pain and fatigue levels are at a place now where I don't take Savella anymore either. I have low back issues that have been a problem for almost 30 years that have improved quite a bit also.…

The answer to # 1 is, YES. I eat fish a couple of times a year, otherwise vegetarian. (Pescetarian technically.) Pinterest has a lot of great recipes if you search "Low carb vegetarian." The first week or two is the hardest trying to figure out what to eat. After that it is much easier. You will be surprised how much…

Here's a link to an article that explains why you don't want your protein too high and helps you to calculate how much you might need. The article is a few years old, but maybe it will work as a starting point and you can research and adjust the recommendations to your needs. It recommends about 1/2g of protein per pound…

I've had better luck keeping the fat high, protein moderate and carbs low. I don't really watch calories. Everybody responds differently though. It shouldn't take you too long to figure out if it will work for you or not. There are a lot of people on here that can probably give you some really good advice on setting your…

I read somewhere (sorry, I can't remember where to cite it) that your body produces about 80% of your cholesterol and only about 20% comes from what you eat. That would make the cholesterol in your diet much less significant than originally thought. I'm a vegetarian also and get most of my protein from eggs and cheese. If…

If ketosis isn't your goal, don't worry about it. I probably meander in and out of it. My goals are weight loss and better health and I'm achieving both. Sometimes I stay under 20 carbs for a while and other times I go way over 50. (I have a small, organic orchard and can't resist the fresh fruit when it's ripe.) As long…

I've got fibromyalgia, and my back issues include scoliosis, arthritis, disc compression and a couple of bone spurs with occasional sciatica. I've noticed that when pain levels go up so does my weight. I think I subconsciously eat for comfort and combined with not moving as much when I hurt, it equals weight gain. For me,…
