  • I'm a vegetarian, for the most part. My cholesterol was 98 at my last blood test 2 weeks ago. It is down even though I had gained some weight and cut back on exercising. I'm getting back on the weight loss and exercising bandwagon as of today. I have found over the years that different things work differently for everyone.…
  • Hallo. Ga zo door.
  • Water, LOL. I personally gave up soda, even diet soda, because of the long list of unnatural ingredients in it.
  • Sounds like you're heading in the right direction. Good luck to you.
  • My final straw was when my blood sugar went up sky high even though I was taking medicine for it for years and at the same time the doctor told me that I needed to stop taking that medicine because I had chronic kidney disease and the medicine wasn't good for that. She told me to take another medicine. "Forget that!" I…
  • Welcome, Margy.
  • I'm a vegetarian as well and I personally try not to eat any processed food due to the ingredients in them sometimes, but I looked at the ingredients list on the burgers you posted and I think I'd eat these and hope they would taste good.
  • I certainly understand the sagging, soft stomach skin issue. I've got it too after losing 69 lbs with about 49 more to go. I'm just going to deal with it at my age (64). If I was younger I may be thinking differently though. Now that I think about it I'm not even losing weight to look better. I'm only losing weight to get…
  • I'm impressed GetFit4Life13! After reading your post I feel motivated to get off the computer and get on the stationary bike for a while to get some exercise in for the day.
  • Way to go!

  • Welcome.
  • Hi. I'm 64 and I've got 49 more pounds I want to lose. I've already lost 69. I joined this site 10 days ago.
  • I'm only going by what the medical professional I see has told me. I'm not going to argue with her.
  • Muscle weighs more than fat. I wonder if it's possible that you gained 7 lbs in muscle weight. I'd say that was a good thing if you did. Also, I think you really look great even though you gained up to 145.
  • There are articles on the internet showing how good fasting is for you and there are just as many articles on the internet showing how bad fasting is for you. That goes for anything else. You'll always find articles in favor of things and other articles that aren't in favor of the same thing.
  • Sometimes the negative effects don't show up immediately. It may take weeks, months or years. I don't judge you if this type of fasting is what you want to do. That's your choice and your life, but it will never be mine.
  • I became a vegetarian about a year ago for health reasons.
  • Wow. Great job. I know it isn't easy even if you had lap band surgery. I know 2 people who have gained a lot of weight back after losing after surgery. That, to me, shows just how much effort has to be put in to lose weight regardless of surgery. Keep up the good work. I hope you find motivation and inspiration to continue.
  • I stopped adding salt to my food when I found out I had chronic kidney disease. I also have high blood pressure. I used black pepper and other spices to my taste. I had to do some experimenting. I also try not to buy processed foods. They really are loaded with sodium. I'm trying to eat "clean" for health reasons. I love…
  • How much better I feel and results keep me motivated. No only the weight loss results but also results from lab tests where numbers are coming down and the fact that I've gotten off of medicine for diabetes. I don't ever want to go back on that medicine and I'm working hard to stay off of it.
  • Like many other people that have answered, I weight myself every morning before I eat or drink anything. That way I can keep myself in line.
  • I've tried Slim Fast in the past. Many years ago and I didn't lose a lot of weight on it. Then, of course, I gained it back. These days I don't eat or drink anything that has a lot of added ingredients in it especially if the words are hard to pronounce. I'm eating as natural as possible and this is working better for me…
  • 64, Virginia with 68 lbs down and 50 more to go.
  • Hi Brina, I signed up today so I'm new to this sight too. I lost 68 lbs prior to this but I need a boost to continue since I've hit a plateau.
  • Hi Rocknut53. I still have 50 pounds I want/need to lose. I currently weigh 185 and haven't weighed that amount in at least 30 or so years. My joints still hurt. At one point I was in so much pain that I was doing a lot of sitting around. I started exercising in small amounts because I knew that without movement I would…
  • Hi sharpie54. Your title, "Too Old to Get Back to my College Weight" caught my eye probably because I'm 64. My possible encouragement to you is to lose that 12 pounds before it goes any higher. It's easier to take off 12 than it is to take off 20. Slow and steady wins the game. Coming down 1 pound, even if it takes 2…
