  • I was doing hotel living when I was training for a new job. First, I brought a meal replacement with me on my trip, it wasn't a reduced calorie replacement- it was a complete nutrition food alternative called Soylent, I brought the powder with me. Second, I hit up the hotel fitness center every day. Being at a hotel and…
  • I found this video really enjoyable!
  • Also - really focus on that over full feeling after a binge. The times I binged, I was so full I felt like crap, tired, lethargic, and on the verge of feeling like I could vomit. If you can focus on how crappy you feel after a binge and help your mind associate a binge with feeling bad may help you resist going overboard.
  • Advice: Remember the way you feel to help remind yourself; "this is the reason I don't eat/drink this way anymore." This way, if you are tempted to eat/drink this way again, your mind makes the connection to feeling gross.
  • Try doing homemade, very satisfying and you can control what goes on it.
  • It sounds like you have an addiction to food, psychological effects of any addiction are very hard to overcome. Remember what you are trying to accomplish, focus on the goal you have and, reflect on every time you overcome the cravings. Small wins are important, a series of small wins is what gets you to your goal. Your…
  • Drink two large glasses of water and wait 30 minutes before eating a main meal. Depending on your size, go up to four glasses of water. The goal here is to fill up your stomach prior to eating a main meal.
  • Some mistake people make are logging 0 calorie foods. For example, you can't eat a jar of pickles and mark it 0 calories as the label suggests. The FDA allowed low calorie/ serving size to be marked as 0on the label - its dumb. It's a cucumber - cucumbers have calories. I even log gum, spices, coffee, etc
  • I have read Many of Polan's books. He makes some very valid points, but is seemingly ideological at heart. He has some good reads, but I disagree with him when it comes to what food we "should" be eating.
  • Fen Phen worked, it worked for about 15 pounds... then it would leave you with only bones after it killed you.
  • If your in a mind spiral about having to get 10,000 steps, strap a "fitbit" like device to your ankle instead of your wrist and peddle on a floor/desk cycle. I think if your doing 40 minutes of activity per day that's a good thing. However, there is some health concerns about sitting stationary for too long. Check out the…
  • I couldn't stand how sweet ensure plus was. Since I am always low on time, I was looking specifically for a meal replacement, with complete nutrition with a healthy amount of calories, so I went with a product called Soylent. However, if you are looking to add extra calories to your diet, just for calories sake - Nuts,…
  • I normally don't have much time in the mornings or nights, with school, work and exercise routine. If I have an extra 3 minutes, I mix up a batch Soylent Powder. If I have less than 3 minutes, I consume Soylent Drink. Low Glycemic Index, Complete Nutrition. People who are advocates of whole foods, non-gmo, or males who are…
  • My fitbit is not syncing to MFP after changing to new Charge 2. Thinking about going back to Fitbit app exclusively.
  • You will not ruin your diet, I promise. It will take a significant amount of calories to see your weight go up any amount from a single day to the next, nearly to the point of forcing the food down! Now mentally is a different story, you have done so well and don't want to ruin it with a burger, but guess what? It's just…
  • Thanks for the advice and support everyone! I think 130 may have been too low for me. Then I made poor choices in what I ate when my appetite wasn't satisfied. All sweets have been removed except for fudge pops and sugar free pudding mix. This way, if I do have a sweet tooth I have a low calorie option and have to go out…
  • This thread has been very insightful to my current situation, thanks to the OP for sharing!
  • I will say I do find it interesting that I ask about a carb blocker to get peoples opinion on Phaseolus Vulgaris. However, the responses I received in reply have been seemingly attacking on the assumption that I am going to start consuming said supplement. I appreciate Christine_72 response, she stayed on topic. I was…
  • How sad, I didnt realize reading could kill brain cells. That must be a bummer! I dont believe I ever attributed my weight gain to anything besides calories in Vs out. More in than out is going to lead to weight gain. Yes, binging on sugar is not good - I chose sugar over other items because welll i think its because I…
  • Science. We can't reduce the number of fat cells we have, except through surgery. According to tests my metabolism has indeed slowed. This is a known side effect of loosing a large amount of weight and not unexpected, nor unusual. I have had blood test and my leptin hormone is lower than "normal."
  • HaHa!!! I already have this problem, I eat a good portion of oats and gas out when I drink/eat a protein snack - Its horrid! Glad the wife still loves me :) . But sharts? Oh hell no!!!
  • I got 2500 from here for weight maintenance. Calorie calculator: Here
  • No health conditions, not taking medications, most recent blood work was "phenomenal." I run 2 miles min every day, average 30k steps a day, do a 5x5 weight routine every other day or at least 3 times a week. My most recent cholesterol readings: Cholesterol 174 mg/dL Triglyceride 57 mg/dL HDL Chol 79 mg/dL LDL Calc 94 mg/dL
  • I'm nate, Im alwaysnup for a challenge! www.fitbit.com/user/4HSCRK
  • I can start a thread on muscle gain a little later, I would like to get back to the original topic of Phaseolus Vulgaris as a carb blocker. I am looking for some support, not a cure, and if Phaseolus Vulgaris is really able to block carb digestion so carbs don't break down into sugars that are stored as fat - it would be…
  • Good question! I lost a lot of weight but will always have the same amount of fat cells, what some people call "fat memory." My metabolism has slowed down after loosing weight, and there is a good chance my metabolism wont recover. Finally, the reduction of leptin has made me very hungry, constantly and its very hard to…
  • Thank you all for your input, I have managed to get my issue under control this passed week. I am still doing a lot of cardio, weights every other day, I eat 400gram salads every night and usually eat a warm dinner along with a boat load of more vegetables. The main difference is I am eating 2500 calories, I was too hungry…
  • I have hit my weight goal and I consider myself very lucky. However, I started to lift a lot of weights and have gained 10 pounds - my wife says its all in my arms and my stomach is getting firm but I just see myself as fat - I hope my mindset changes soon!
  • I was at a hotel a lot for work training recently. Meal replacements, specfically Soylent, helped me stay on track along with green giant steamers for a warm dinner. The exercise room was my best friend in the evenings after work.
  • Salad dressing is a hard one because nothing, yes nothing is as jam packed full of flavor as a buttermilk ranch or 1000 island/russian dressing. However, there are some low calorie options that some people have already mentioned above. I do use a pre-made Kraft Lite dressing, usually balsamic lite (25 cal) or raspberry…
