Two more pounds till the 150s...

My "absolutely, positively NO TIME!! sprinting for the door" breakfast is to throw a cup of plain greek yogurt and a protein bar into my bag; at some point in the morning I will be able to grab a coffee and I eat the yogurt (with Splenda and fruit, if I can find it) and/or the protein bar while I drink it. Not the most…

You look about 20 years younger -- and so much happier! Congratulations, and thanks for the motivation! I'm 57 and am mostly doing MFP for the calorie counting, but the more I look at these success stories, the more I realize I'm missing important stuff by not exercising.

As for the blisters themselves -- see if you can find some 3M Tegaderm film! When my dad died he left a massive hoard of these wound dressings, and I've been using them as blister bandages; it's a film that you put on over a dressing that keeps the bandage from rubbing off. I usually use the hydrocolloid dressings that he…

Among many, many other things. And here we think that celebrity culture is a product of the social media age :D

Oh, welcome to the club! I have a remarkable collection of clothes to teach in -- at all sizes, sadly -- and it really does make a difference to the class dynamic. But I think it's best to pretend that rate my professor doesn't exist: there's nothing more frustrating than realizing that they don't remember a damn thing you…

I'm not sure, but I think the old adage of 5 pounds for every inch over 5 feet was like the old height-weight charts -- invented in the early 20th century by insurance companies that wanted something to base discriminatory life-insurance policies on. If you use a measure of 'ideal weight' that's only achievable by 10% of…

For me it was when I realized that an ounce of skim milk and an ounce of lager had the same points...that was in the last iteration of the program, not this one, but it was my first clue that something very wrong had happened to the points system.

Lord Byron apparently lived on vinegar and potatoes in an effort to lose weight, at one point.

5' 4.5" currently 163, also currently size 12 pants, Large to Medium tops. Should be getting into size 10 pants soon, but the girls are solid titanium, apparently, so the tops are still huge.

I think there's lots of people who've made that shift -- I lost 50 pounds back in 2006 with the original points program, which was great, but every new iteration was less effective than the last. Went back to WW in February, was told about Freestyle, took one look at it and KNEW that it wouldn't work without calorie…

It was cold and rainy today, so I grabbed a leather jacket that I found while thrifting several years ago -- it's a medium and I've not even been able to get it over my arms the last few times I tried it. It now fits!! snug over the boobs but does up just fine, and it's not so tight that anyone is going to point and laugh.…

It also does a bang-up job of removing cat urine stench from laundry, should you ever be so unfortunate as to need that. Ask me why I know. . . :# :#

So . . . MFP members are basically Statler and Waldorf? https://youtube.com/watch?v=14njUwJUg1I

Loved the video: it's not as simple as it initially seems, although it meshes with my experience of just watching non-fat people :). Mom was always very skinny -- much skinnier than she wanted to be -- while Dad loved food and put on weight as he aged. I take after Dad in lots of ways, not just my tendency to run to fat --…

Yes, that's his point -- and it's more or less the core of his approach, too. And because I'm still comparatively fat there's no personal problem for me at the moment. But it's still unnerving, especially knowing that my margins will be very small as I lose (I'm little and I'm 57; I gain on comparatively little food). One…

I recently destroyed my favorite small pot -- put two eggs on to hard boil, forgot about them and LEFT THE HOUSE FOR FIVE HOURS. Came home to blackened shrivelled husks of shells in a mass of charcoal; I've been trying to clean off the scorch but there isn't enough baking soda and vinegar in the world. I'm seriously…

100 day streak on MFP! I've lost 30 pounds so far and have 30 more to go, at least, so this isn't that impressive -- but one of my goals this year is to have a 364 day streak on MFP.

Wings. The very worst. I assume it's because they are basically chicken skin and bones that have been deep fried, but the fact that they can jam THAT many calories into an appie just seems...wrong...
-
It's wildly terrifying, especially because you've spent the previous 4 weeks jogging along thinking "I get to walk soon! I get to walk soon!!" so the idea of not being *able* to stop is horrific. But it's usually okay, if unnerving. I need to start C25K again soon.
-
Oh gods, the worst. And yeah, there's times where you just have to suck it up, literally, and eat it.

I only wish I could have fancier chai -- but Saskatoon Saskatchewan isn't exactly the most sophisticated place, so bags it is! And yes, I meant the "bagged spiced tea steeped in hot milk" kind of thing. Ironically enough, this place was local -- I guess they just figured that the Toroni syrups were just as good. Never…

Logic!

Yep, live and learn. Although I'm going to stick to Broadway Roastery, where they make it with a bag, as nature intended :)

Halo Top feels much more...ice milkish... than the Breyers 300 calorie a tub ones. I mean, they're both ice cream, but the Breyers is much more satisfying. I just finished the last serving in a pint of Breyers, and sitting here watching my peke try to work out how to lick the cardboard tub. The frustrations of being a…

I think being able to tare a scale is important if you have to move it frequently; it helps to be able to 'reset' it before you weigh yourself. I really want to buy a 'visiting nurse' scale -- the kind of digital scales that Weight Watchers uses -- rather than a standard bathroom scale. But they're only sold by medical…

Me three. Flex was terrific -- lost 50 pounds on it, got to goal and was Lifetime for about a year and a half. When I'd gained 15 pounds and had to go back on the full program, they'd changed to Points Plus which never worked for me. In fact, none of the other programmes they've had have worked as well for me as Flex -- or…

Well, I was in the tail end of the 70s and the early 80s...but I vividly remember my size, because I worked so damned hard at it! Still have the grad dress upstairs in a closet -- now it wouldn't fit my thigh!
-
Yep. In 1980? Size 10.
-
Yep, the States is the worst for vanity sizing, which has been going on for ages but really did get worse in the 90s. UK/Australian sizing is what USA and Canadian sizing used to be 20 years ago; 10 years ago a UK 14 was a US 12 and now a UK 14 is supposedly a US 10. When I was in high school in the 70s and 80s I was 5' 5"…
