  • Don't like to streak...afraid I'll get bug bites in unmentionable places, but typically on multiple times a week.
  • Marine Corps for 6 years - every branch that I am aware of uses body weight workouts. Some units might incorporate free weights, but the vast majority do not. Now I won't say you will get huge, buff and ripped, but you will tone up and strengthen quite a bit just doing body weight exercises. Only problem is, to keep…
  • I noticed the same thing, I have to get 100% RDA of nutrients, meet a daily fiber goal, keep my calories down, and at the same time balance those calories between carbs, fats, and protein. Jeez - and I thought work, grad school and being a single dad to two teen daughters was hard to juggle!!!! I finally gave up on…
  • To OP - you know you're getting old when you hurt yourself sleeping!
  • My mom hit menopause and was gaining weight. She is pretty active both at work and on her off time (likes to snow ski), maintained pretty much same diet habits she's had for last 10 years or so, yet was putting on a couple of pounds or more every month. She switched to keto and has lost 15+ lbs in last few months, feels a…

  • To OP - it is easier to log the same foods, but I would say more do it just b/c we as humans are typically creatures of habit. Also, since morning and noon times are typically the time when we are most rushed, it's quicker to have the same routine than do something different.
  • Just read OPs post, so not sure if anyone else has chimed in on this, but here are my thoughts as a guy: Sounds like he has some self-image problems, which isn't surprising considering the way society constantly bashes men for being the root of all evils today. Further that with a low self-image b/c he isn't in the shape…
  • Well, if you eat when you're hungry...and you have problems with controlling your hunger reflex (real or perceived, and at what hunger level to you engage)...you could eat the majority of the time. Eating when I'm hungry would have me eating at 9pm every night...which isn't a good habit. I would say chewing food, eating…
  • I like to make fish tacos. Also, white beans with hamhock and hushpuppies if frying. Baked, I typically stick with grilled veggies as mentioned above. Instead of rice, perhaps some type of potato casserole, or just plain ol' Brit chips!
  • Jackson...at least for now. Always looking for friends, work out buds, or just someone to clue me in on local area exercise/foodie events! TY and GL2all
  • Im here in Jackson and hoping to find others to share events (exercise/foodie stuff) and/or exercise with
  • I'm not female, but looking for fellow MFPers to connect with. Workout buds, share info about local events, etc. Friend me if you want!
  • Jonah - first off grtz for trying to get a handle on your life and weight. It's not going to be easy, but it's not impossible. Second, I agree with above postings - put your info in here and start logging everything you eat. I would highly suggest you get a food scale and weigh everything you can. Its a pain at first, but…
  • Not sure about others, but when I was growing up (70s and 80s)...I did what my parents wanted, and if I didn't like it, I was told to shut up and quit whining. Today, we as parents let our kids run our life to the point where we can't even take 2 hours a week for ourselves. Guess it's just the pendulum swinging the other…
  • First, check out google for some different guides and youtubers. Proper form and technique from the beginning will go a long way in helping you. Second, print off a chord chart and start with the major chords (D A G C are the big ones, and you can play a lot of songs knowing just these). Third, not sure the type of music…
  • Eating disorders from Mayo Clinic: "Eating disorders are serious conditions related to persistent eating behaviors that negatively impact your health, your emotions and your ability to function in important areas of life." I don't know if clinical psychologists/psychiatrists would classify it as such, nor if multiple ones…
  • I was in the Marine Corps, in a platoon that would be sent out forward of the battle lines on a hill, and call in air and naval gunfire on enemy on a road or something. I was accustomed to seeing fixed and rotary wing craft, and a decent judge of altitude from ground level, as well as flight abilities of different Navy/MC…
  • Im trying to lose about another 10-15 lbs....down 25+ already, plus I have problems with certain FODMAPs. At first I tried to be a diet nazi, but soon realized I was grumpy, depressed, and miserable. Then it hit me, why am I doing this to myself? I'm pretty disciplined (6yrs in the Marine Corps), so finally figured out for…
  • What do you do for fun, hobbies, to de-stress? I am not greatly over-weight, but am broke from my time in the Marines, and get down/bummed out eating rabbit food and not being able to be as active as I would like. Some things that I do to help myself: 1 - Try and eat sensible, but if I have a craving for a cheeseburger, I…
  • So why do you think you need you're muscles to get more work? I'm just assuming here, but from your post, sounds like it's more pride than a physical or health need. And yea...Im projecting here! LOL 6 years in the Marine Corps, and 2 motorcycle wrecks, and I still get down on my 47 year old body (going on 97 it feels like…
  • In the Marine Corps, head was up, chest to the ground, then full extension back up...but that was about 20 years ago for me. 6 years as one of Uncle Sams Misguided Children, and 2 motorcycle wrecks, plus pushing 50 has me modifying how I work some areas out. First rule of exercise, if it burns...you're doing it right. If…
  • First, see your doctor to make sure everything is ok. Second, go to a real runner's store and have them examine you're gait. They can look at you in ways you never could, and with experience in running mechanics you probably don't have. While shoes are important, they may also be able to give you pointers on how to modify…
  • I've been battling the same problems for years now. It's hard to point to something, without a whole battery of tests. You may see a day or two delay in lower gut flair-ups, esp if you have constipation mixed in. I have experienced cramping BM 15 minutes after eating, or 12+ hours later after a trigger food. Onions,…
  • Well, since this is a site about losing weight, how about poking a little fun at ourselves? You look like you know a LOT about food. - or - I know it's an all you can eat buffet, but I don't think they will let someone like YOU in.
  • NHIE sneaking heroin across the border in a condom shoved up my bum.
  • My experience with rebounding was this hot little redhead who I shared an intense and passionate trist with. The relationship followed the enlightened words of the sages, "It's better to burn out than fade away!" - Rock of Ages - Def Leppard

  • I got married not long after I returned from Somalia while serving with 1st Marine Division. I was tired of the weekly barracks inspections, and I knew if you were married you got to live off base. Looking back...that may not have been the best of reasons, but then again, I've heard worse! :)
  • What is legal is often not concerned with that which is moral.
  • Pepperoncini, pickeled okra, and regular pickles (dill spears) are nice fillers for me, but don't eat them as a "straight snack" usually. Typically have with a sandwich, add ins on a salad, etc.

  • First, talk to the management that you would like to have another intro to the machines (first time around didn't cover)...I'm sure they will set you up. Also, go ahead and ask other patrons about the machines. As for me, if someone came up and asked me about a machine I was working on, I would be more than happy to give…
