low fat cottage cheese tastes really bad to me. My advice for anyone trying cottage cheese for the first time is to go for full fat first. It would be a shame to think you hate cottage cheese because of a fear of fat. It's only about 20-30 more calories for full fat per serving (113g ish) with the same amount of protein or…

Where are you getting that information from? It seems way off to me.

sometimes I'll drink about 16 oz of water and then drink a coke zero. It keeps me full for a while and it has a sweet taste. When I actually want food, I go for a protein bar. They're like candy bars, but they do a much better job of keeping me full. My favorite ones are pure protein chocolate peanut caramel.

You might want to check the date on your jar of Nutella.

I have this one friend who buys a ton of beer just so his friends can drink it when they go to his house. I'm pretty sure that's how you get to heaven. You make a good point with the free stuff working against our goals. I stick to a one and done policy. It seems like having a little bit of the stuff I love helps me avoid…

I can manage to not buy any alcohol in November, but one does not simply turn down free beer.

My wife was complaining about that last night. She wasn't complaining about all the new positions though.

I mostly agree with you, but I don't go around talking about my weight or goals, so if someone brings it up they should expect me to reply with my opinion. My opinion happens to be that I'm a disgusting fat body. If nothing else it will teach them to keep comments they find sensitive to themselves.

I see it as a kindness. Most of these people don't know why they think I should stop losing weight. My comment opens their eyes to the truth. They think dragging others down is easier than setting and reaching goals that would eliminate the self loathing they feel. Some people respond better with the cold hard truth than a…

Speak for yourself. I like to have an idea of what other people think of my figure. I find it interesting that so many people have told me that I need to stop losing weight. It's always people who have a much higher body fat % than I do. I just tell tem I'll stop losing weight when I stop being a disgusting fat body.…

You do know this is the internet, right? Sorry to inform you, but you won't find a forum without arguments. ETA: This is one of the best forums I've ever had the pleasure to participate in , and I'm somewhat of a forum junkie.

I'm about to start lifting soon. It seems like 2 pounds of muscle a month is the max according to most of my sources. This really worries me because I feel like it would be impossible to gain muscle without gaining fat. I know some fat gain is inevitable, but what's an optimal surplus to aim for when trying to gain muscle?

You don't have to change your diet to lose weight. All you have to do is consume fewer calories than you burn. You don't have to workout either, but there are a ton of other health reasons to incorporate cardio and strength training into your life style. Healthy and clean are going to have different meanings for everyone.…

I've never thought of skinny as an insult. Some people like being skinny and some people don't. Either way it's a very neutral descriptive word IMO. When it comes to fat or fit shaming, it's less about word choices and more about how those words are used. Loads of people consider calling someone skinny a compliment.

I made it to the last hole on my belt. When I started I couldn't even make it to the first hole. So far I have gone from size 38 jeans to 32 and I think it's time to by some 30s cause my pants feel very loose. I never thought it was possible to get below size 34 pants.

I love both of them. It really drives me crazy to hear people say that diet soda will cause weight gain. Diet soda was the one thing that helped me come as far as I have. I'm 76 pounds lighter and I sometimes drink 5 cans of coke zero a day.

Wow just wow. Sorry @WinoGelato I was completely wrong about the intentions of this poster.

I don't think the person you quoted was implying that CICO is not at work during IF. I took it as them saying that counting calories doesn't work for everyone. I truly believe that counting calories does not work for everyone, simply because of calculating CICO wrong. Although, your reply was helpful in clarifying that…

Looking good! How tall are you?

The hardest part is deciding to make a change. The actual "work" involved doesn't need to be hard. All you have to do is burn more calories than you eat. You don't even have to exercise.

I've had the flu shot twice for insurance purposes, but It's been years since I had one. I felt bad for a few days after getting it both times. I can't say I know much about the science behind it, but I do think the whole concept is strange. I'm not against it though, I just don't get it because i felt bad twice after…

I'm so happy for you!

Made myself nauseous while looking at my collar bones. I had no idea they were so creepy looking.

Just walking while eating a surplus won't help you gain muscle.

I consider healthy food to be whatever your body needs at the time. Much of that can come from "junk food" but not all of it. A carb may be a carb, but carbs are not the only factor. It doesn't really matter where a carb comes from. What matters is what it comes WITH. Eating a food that has only carbs is not nearly as…

That's what I was thinking.

My crack doesn't show any more when I bend over! This is a big deal for me because I have always been known as the guy with the long crack. People would tease me and say that I should have been a plumber. I didn't even know this was because of my weight.

That's why I try to buy the same brand goal shirt every time I get a new one. Have to buy the same cut too cause that can make a huge difference.
-
I go look in my full body mirror with my shirt off and ask myself If I really want to look like this for the rest of my life. Then I go eat a reasonable amount of what I'm craving.
-
Yeah I'm aware I don't have to eat 1200 calories and I usually don't, and I know there are sometimes pros as well as cons involved. I can respect your point of view as not being judgmental, but others on this thread clearly don't have the same intentions as you do.
