  • Labdoor.com rates magnesium supplements, for those of you contemplating a purchase.
  • Congrats!
  • I have the worst sugar addiction ever, so like the ladies above, I am reluctant to get into anything that even smacks of dessert, much less make a tray or pan full of anything! I do sometimes cut a Quest bar in half (I know, it's a frankenfood) and consider that a treat. I wish I liked the higher percentage chocolate bars,…
  • I love mani/pedis, especially since the way I do them myself imitates a 3 year old. Now massages, that is going way to far for my comfort zone.
  • Haha, I just noticed those buttons!
  • Ditto: I love closet shopping too. Although I have to admit there is still a rather good sized "no touch zone" near the back. However it keeps me motivated.

  • @anewlifeat40 & Phrick: I, too, love all of those shows. Right now I am hooked on the Olympics and the old, old, reruns of Forensic Files!
  • @sarahthes You are so lucky!!!
  • I try to keep nuts in my purse for emergencies. I buy them in bulk and them put them into little plastic baggies.
  • I think above all, relax into this way of eating. Sometimes we just overthink things a bit too much. Start somewhere and see how it goes. I will probably always be tweaking something along the way.
  • So sorry to read your blog and know that you are struggling. Firstly, forget what MFP says about weight loss per week. It hasn't been correct EVER for my macros, so throw that out the window. Second, stress may be playing a part, best to try and relax into your eating plan (I know easier said than done). You may be…
  • Ditto the above. I am an "older person" and I do not feel entitled to say whatever I please, but I do understand that some do so. Take it with a grain of salt. ;)
  • I love to keep it simple. The more I get into recipes, etc., the more I have food on my mind. Most mornings are eggs with bacon or lc sausage. Lunch is usually almond butter or hard cheese (not too much of either) and dinner is meat and the occasional lc green vegetable. I have found a lc yogurt so I sometimes substitute…
  • Hang in there. Under those circumstances, you can only just try your best with what is on hand. Perhaps the coming week will be a bit easier. Not an ideal vacation.
  • My two cents: there are good addictions and bad addictions. This forum is a good one! I think Mr.CarLori is concerned for your well-being tinged with a little jelly.
  • @LauraCoth: I absolutely understand what you are going through. I am sorry it has taken so long to find relief. You might try adding the carbs in slowly so you can test just how many you need to get a good night's sleep. If you tried Atkins 3 years ago and no cramps, it may be something else entirely. Good Luck!
  • I also love almond butter. I buy it at Fresh Market: they have that diy machine that grinds the almonds in front of you. Taste is so much better than anything out of a jar. A little pricey but worth an occasional indulgence.
  • @BaconSan2 Never heard of taking chromium for leg cramps, but will give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
  • @anewlifeat40 Same thing happened to me and I don't have too much weight to lose (IMHO). I kept carbs under 35, was under my calorie count every day and exercised 3x a week and gained 2 lbs. I know how you feel, but others here advised me to KCKO and it does get better. Our bodies need time to adapt and change. We can't…
  • I tend to run with low blood pressure and have had some dizziness upon standing. Try to increase sodium, as suggested above. See how that is, if not the solution, try lowering magnesium just a bit. As above, low blood sugar, also could be a factor. In that case add a little protein to your diet and make sure you do not go…
  • The Vitamin Shoppe sells potassium citrate (99mg is the allowable amount that a store can sell). I take one a day and have had no side effects. Also keep up with leafy greens.
  • Best of luck!! Can't wait to see a new "after" shot. Hang in there for the few days "after surgery" which I hear can be uncomfortable. Think of the new you!
  • Re Halo Top (too expensive in my area, plus a 30 mile drive) I've read elsewhere that you must let it soften up a bit to be tasty. Just sayin....
  • @LauraCoth You are correct!!! I only take one medication (Evista, for pre-osteoporosis) which does list leg cramps as a side effect. I mentioned it to OB GYN and she felt that since they are intermittent, it would be good if I could tolerate it for the benefits of the drug. I actually agreed with her but sometimes wish I…
  • @LauraCoth : I also suffer from severe leg/foot cramps at night. But, to be truthful I also suffered on the SAD. They are very intermittent. I can go weeks/months with no cramping and then suddenly they return. I have read everything possible and have tried everything possible but get no complete relief, albeit sometimes…
  • Thanks, @auntstephie321, @GaleHawkins @Majcolorado ! I find for myself, I must lower my carb level to 20-25ish to enter nutritional ketosis and was wondering if being that strict with my diet had a real advantage over, say, 50-60 grams. I guess I will have to do some self-experimentation to decide what works best for me.
  • I believe I received a purse-sized carb counter from the Atkins website for signing up (a free deal). I pretty good reference.
  • Ditto KnitorMiss above. I use the Doctor's Best brand of Magnesium Glycinate and have had no problems with it. I take 3 tablets a day (two tablets equal one 200mg serving) spread out over the day. Bought the 240 tablet size so it will last 80 days.
  • @anglyn1: I'm with you, I love Seinfeld. Have stopped watching the re-runs as I have probably seen each episode 3x. Love Elaine and her various boyfriends. Also have the "voice" problem, born in NY and am now living in SC, don't really have a regional accent after so many moves, but definitely sound funny to the locals.
  • Love his website, he is really dedicated to this woe.
