A) You have such a sweet son! Your lesson to him was also a great one. I applaud parents who find inventive ways to teach their kids life lessons. B) Non-scale goals are great! I had a picnic yesterday, and to ensure I didn't give in and eat that piece of cake, I went through all my shorts and jeans that were getting tight…

Oh, and I keep my carbs under 5% of my calories (I try to keep them under 20g, getting as much of them as I can from vegetables), about 75% calories from fat and about 20% from protein. For me personally, I have to make sure not to overdo it on the protein, b/c the day I did that, even though I stayed under carbs, my body…

Personally, I've done low carb before, but I never did low carb, high fat, following the whole food, healthy eating style of the ketogenic diet. I find adding in the fat and cutting down on preservatives is making my weight drop. I am in the >300 (currently 142kg) club as well, but I'm finding myself closer every day to…

My suggestion is a) be prepared with a nut or seed snack. I know we have to be careful about having too much, but in a pinch it's good. And b) for breakfast I often just start out my morning with a bulletproof coffee, and if I'm working or going somewhere, bring a prepared breakfast in a container with me to eat…

I made this for a picnic tomorrow! It's a Pizza toppings casserole and it looks and smells amazing! It was super easy. Here's where I got the recipe: http://genaw.com/lowcarb/pizza_topping_casserole.html

I was on the road to and from a family party in the next state over with 3 relatives last weekend, and they wanted burger king (despite being the driver, I always also the youngest, so I acquiesced) I got a bacon double cheeseburger plain and ate between the bun. It was actually pretty tasty and it staved my hunger for the…

SW 6/1/16 329 CW 6/11/16 316.5 I was a little low on my calories yesterday, the reason being that I conked out on my couch at 6:30! For the most part I've been energetic since I started this, but for some reason my body completely winked out and I slept for about 11 hours (After being startled awake and then managing to…

I'm curious about how other people are eating on this, so I did look at your diary. I noticed that your protein seems a little high. That could kick you out of ketosis. I know I had one day I ate too much protein and I just felt off from how I'd felt the rest of the time. If you want to look at mine, feel free to friend…

Load up on veggies (stay away from corn, though). How could your mom judge that? Yes, they have more carbs than meat, but much of that is fiber, so that's not a bad thing. My body building friend said don't worry about veggies so long as you're mostly eating green leafy, non starchy veggies. Also, you can make yourself a…

Today I had a great Macro day. Yesterday, I went over my proteins b/c I hadn't planned my meals well enough, so today I paid a bit more attention and also made bulletproof coffee for the first time. I'm a coffee junkie, so I thoroughly enjoyed that as a way to fill up my fat percent without imbibing on proteins! My total…

Thanks, guys. I do think I will like this group! ^_^

I don't pre-plan my whole day, but I often pre-plan a meal when I'm deciding what to eat. I log in my next meal and if I don't like my macros that I see, I delete and tweak it or start again planning something completely different.

I hate the idea of putting my weight out there. I was never small, but I didn't weigh so much until I attempted a starvation diet under the guidance and care of a medical weight loss program. After such diet I had lost a minimal amount of weight, when I caved after feeling like crap 100% of the time, my weight skyrocketed…

Or take some slices of apple with butter and cinnamon and melt it together in the microwave. Like an apple pie cheat. However, I do feel like apples have a lot of sugar in them, and we find the varieties that are the sweetest like that and breed them. Wild fruits like we used to eat as a species, don't seem to have the…

Thank you for posting this! I was shocked to see Calm with such a low grade. It has a good reputation and has been recommended to me by many. Guess I will be changing my magnesium supplement.

As DAM5412 said, read "The Obesity Code". The decision that we should be eating more carbs and less fat was made by a politician, not a scientist. The increase in carbohydrates correlates with the increase in obesity, yet we insist on sticking to that module. In the book, he quotes several human only studies, all of them…

I started my high fat low carb lifestyle on June 1 and have found the community to be amazing. I am looking for continued friends and support in this. I will totally add you!
