  • It seems clear you are unwittingly overeating - I have a feeling you will deny this so all I can say is if you want to lose weight LISTEN to everyone on here. The number one reason for not losing weight is you are eating more calories than you think.
  • I'm 46, yes it's harder as we age. I won't let anyone tell me otherwise as it is the truth! However I don't understand your post? You have lost 2/3lbs in 2 weeks, that is a great success. Is it because you have a lot to lose and you thought you'd lose a lot in first push? Also totally agree with all the others, weight loss…
  • I thought the article was great, I just hope she is being true to herself. If she is way happier than that is really fantastic. Not many people are really and truly happy being overweight. For all the reasons given above. For all the reasons we are all on this forum. I have lost count of celebrities who said 'I'm happy…
  • Re fidgeting, I saw a UK documentary a few years ago about this exact topic - i.e. why skinny people could seemingly eat whatever they wanted, not exercise and stay lean. Turns out the people in question were jiggling their legs and feet pretty much 24/7 and it was burning everything off.
  • No I wouldn't take a scale to work. Either guesstimate the meal as carefully as you can and overestimate calories by 200-300. OR just make your own lunch, is it really such a big deal to miss out on these meals or is it important socially or politically to partake?

I had the operation 13 years ago, since then I had another baby and put on 5 stone (I'm in the UK - I guess that's about 60lbs?) and lost it. My breasts were…
  • I think it would be cringey to whip out a scale at a friend's bbq! Not sure if it's rude, but if instinctively feels anti social and anti fun!
  • OP I was the same as you (although not quite as obstinate ;-)). I really thought I had my portions down. I started weighing and I was wrong! Like you my breakfast of Greek yogurt and cereal was not huge at ALL but when I actually weighed it it was twice what I should eat! I am now used to the new smaller - well right-sized…
  • Honestly, people are just being polite. If I was asked to guess the age or weight of someone (why would you ask by the way?!) I'd go 3 years younger and 15lbs lower!
  • I'm no expert but when I was looking for the answer for the exact same problem, I kept reading 'water retention' especially if you are lifting. I have finally lost 1lb after two weeks of a very similar regime to you. I'd say stick at it you are doing the right things (as long as you are 100% sure you are not overestimating…
  • spirit picks up I mean!
  • Wonderful post, Vegplotter. Hope your spirits pick up, Lauren.
  • Good luck Angelbaby, I'm in the same position as you and have been reading this with interest :)
