  • I think it helps to add stuff to them. Some frozen fruit and a blender help a lot. I also add coffee and a little sugar free caramel syrup to make something like a frozen coffee drink. Oh - I also love adding PB2 (peanut butter powder) because I adore peanut butter. Or just look on Pinterest for shake recipes - there are…
  • Hello! I love a good walk too. If you're looking to add people as friends, feel free to add me. I'm a 47-year-old mom to two and I live in Michigan.

  • That sounds like fun! I got my kids a PS4 for Christmas this past year, and I've seen that game and thought of getting it for them, but maybe I should get it for ME!

  • I've lost about 40 pounds and I'd like to lose another 20 to 30. Feel free to add me! I'm really trying to actively post on my wall or whatever it's called.
  • I was 140 in my 20s. Now, at 47, I'll be happy if I'm simply a healthy weight, which would be 170. I don't think I even could get to 140, nor do I care to. It's funny because I remember in my early to mid 30s when my thyroid went bad and my weight crept up to 160 feeling like that was the most horrible thing that could…
  • IF you go to your food diary and do a search, just enter the restaurant name and hit "search" and you ought to see pretty much everything at the restaurants. I've noticed with salads that you usually have to add the salad and then find an entry for the salad dressing and put that in as a separate entry.

  • I'm 47 and I have a simple goal of health. I've lost almost 40 pounds but I still have a bit more to lose before I'll be a healthy weight, however I already feel much more comfortable and just plain better.
  • I've been working very hard on being active and writing something on my wall at least once a day. And I love to see what other people are up to. I'd love to get some more MFP friends.
  • I don't like the birthday cake flavor either but I love the salted caramel one. YUM!
  • It seems like if you didn't know how to cook, this might be a way to get some ideas and directions, but it's probably just as easy to look up recipes online and go to the grocery store. Cooking at home might help you lose weight if you usually eat out, because restaurants often have less healthy foods, but of course that…
  • I have a hormonal IUD and I've lost almost 40 pounds so far. And I'm older and I have a bad thyroid. You can absolutely lose weight with a hormonal IUD, and IMO hormonal IUDs are awesome. I'm in my late 40s and I've used a lot of different kind of birth control - this has been the best by far for me. Don't switch birth…
  • Congratulations on your baby and your 20 pounds weight loss! You didn't say how young your baby is or if you're breastfeeding. If you're breastfeeding and/or if your baby is very young, you might hold onto just a few pounds for a while. If that's the case, they should come off after the baby is older, and maybe a bit…
  • Are you logging your calories here at MFP - including the 20% when you don't adhere to the meal plan? You might be eating more than you realize. I know I was. Weighing my food and meticulously logging was a real wake-up call for me.
  • If the baby is 100% breastfed, then 500 calories. If the baby is older and getting half his/her nutrition from solid foods, then 250 calories. It's all an estimate though. I agree you should be careful not to cut your calories by too much or you could hurt your milk supply.
  • I wasn't aware how many calories are in coffee drinks from Starbucks. I didn't realize how much those drinks were setting me back.
  • Eh. There are only so many calories my body can take in during one meal. How many calories does it take to put on one pound? Less than that. I'll just keep going and ignore yesterday.
  • You can really push yourself on the step by doing intense stepping exercises, or you can simply step at a fairly slow pace, or anything in between. I think it's too variable to easily give a number.
  • It might be hard to lose weight until your levels get back up to normal, but hopefully you're taking medication and will get your levels monitored regularly. Once they are up to the right level, you should lose weight just like everyone else by eating the right number of calories. I've lose almost 40 pounds so far (47 and…
  • You'll keep losing weight from birth recovery for another 3 weeks, so I wouldn't worry about weight loss until then. You don't know what you're dealing with yet, and you might hurt your milk supply. But, once you've recovered from the birth, you need to add an extra 500 calories a day for breastfeeding, so (again) you…
  • I am not a fan of their donuts, or anything else there for that matter. It must be one of those places people either love or hate but few people are neutral about?
  • I had a bad weekend too. My older kid had a sleepover and I ate the pizza and chips with the kids. Bummer! But it's just one day and this is about the long run, not one day or one weekend. Be like Dory the fish: Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. Don't worry about little blips on the radar here and there.
  • Once my numbers got to the right place, I was able to lose as MFP said I would based on how many calories I was having. Are you weighing your food and counting everything you eat? Either you're eating more than you think, or your doctor needs to investigate further. I'm not a doctor and I don't know specifically what to…
  • Your body is taking in those calories whether you count them or not. There's an episode of Secret Eaters (BBC) where a woman eats well every week day and doesn't understand why she's gained a bunch of weight. Then they track her and see that she eats way too many calories every weekend. You don't have to overindulge all…
  • I read that they were contaminated with a bacteria at one point years ago that caused liver damage in a few people, but I don't think these shakes or any on their own cause liver damage.
  • Mainly price. Also, what kind of protein they use. I think Herbalife uses soy. Oh yeah, and how they taste. I have no idea how Herbalife's taste compares to the others, but some brands taste better than others. I keep adding to this post! I think the price difference is probably because Herbalife is sold as a…
  • I have no brand loyalty and move from brand to brand, however I avoid whey ones as they don't sit well on my stomach. Many people prefer them though so don't assume that would be an issue for you. The Vega ones are pretty good.
  • A cheaper way to help yourself feel more full (so you eat less) and to lower cholesterol would be to take a Metamucil or similar (off-brand is cheapest) supplement. http://www.healthline.com/health/psyllium-health-benefits#Overview1 Also, I do use a meal-replacement high-protein shake, but IMO they're all fairly similar…
