I know how you feel. I think the whole process is nerve wracking from start to finish. Stay positive! :)

Welcome!

It's probably a common worry. I don't think that having WLS would lessen your chances of getting pregnant. Unless your surgeon somehow managed to damage your reproductive organs during the surgery or something, but that's not even the area where your surgeon will be working, so the odds are low? As for age, I was 29 when I…

Big hugs to you! So sorry for everything that happened. :'( We really need a sympathy icon on here (in the "like" area).

Hey there! My nurse also advised me to wait 18 months to 2 years before getting pregnant. I'm 35, so my clock is ticking! Some reasons my nurse gave me to wait: 1) the lack of calories during the first year after WLS isn't ideal for a developing baby. 2) pregnancy may put a hault in weight loss progress, and cause more…

I have sleeve surgery scheduled for the same day! I feel the same way!

Everything is now done and in place for surgery next week, so my NSV is making it to this point. I start my new life soon.

I've found this post helpful. Thanks for posting  I received some chewable bariatric supplement samples yesterday at my pre-op class. A few were calcium chews and one was a bariatric multivitamin chew that has the needed iron and B12 in it. I'm thinking those are going to be pricey, but I'm going to shop around and…

Are you just doing cardio workouts? Adding more strength training can help. Your muscles need the resistance so your body eats the fat and not your muscle. -- what I was told by my surgeon. Good luck.

I forgot to put in my post: Please feel free to add me as a friend. I would love to see your progress and offer my support! I think we all need each other before and after surgery!

@Shull_rachael My surgeon gave me a pre-op diet plan which seems to consist of lean protein, veggies, dairy, etc. He said he wants me to get my liver as small as I can so he has room to work with. I meet with my dietitian on Thursday for a pre-op class. I'll find out then if I need to do a liquid diet of some sort. The…

Thanks ladies. I know that I need the surgery, and that it would greatly improve my health in many ways. I'm just feeling anxious about everything and even more so after having the surgery details explained to me.
-
It went well. He answered a lot of my questions as he was explaining the surgery, so I didn't even have to ask. I did ask him some questions afterwords before the appt was over. We set a date- May 23. However, last night I was having second thoughts about surgery.

What brand/type of multivitamin is everyone using post-op? Any of you NOT using a special bariatric kind?
-
So far I've got these questions: Will I survive the surgery? What are the risks and potential complications? What is my recovery time? How much of my stomach will be cut out? What is the success rate? How many surgeries have you performed? Will I need skin removal? How long will surgery take approximately? When can I…

Congrats! How are you feeling? How is the pain? I will hopefully be getting a date set tomorrow, and be just a few weeks behind you!
-
Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like you know what you need to do to make things go in the right direction again. You can do it  Good luck!
-
I had to do that too. Totally forgot about that!

Congratulations on 3 years and being closer to your goal. Thank you for the information- it's helpful

My doctor started me on supplements after my initial blood draw (when I started the program) back in June. My levels were low, so I've been taking a multivitamin, B complex, and D. I also started a Hair Skin and Nails supplement a few weeks ago. I take my Metformin right after breakfast, and just take my vitamins at the…

What is the sample of the stomach thing? I didn't know about that.

Thanks! You too! I'm thinking mine will be about mid-May if my insurance approves it, so we will be close. Ahh!
-
Congrats! I'm praying my insurance approves me too!

I've never even had a broken bone before (knock on wood), so the thought of getting put under and having surgery is very scary to me. I hope I can overcome this fear.
-
Congratulations! I hope to be writing something similar one year from now. Keep up the great work!

I'm not looking forward to any hair loss. I also have thin, straight hair and can't afford to lose any :( I've been taking a Hair, Skin, and Nails vitamin for a few weeks. Hopefully it will help out after surgery. I like the hat and the wig. Rock it, girl!

Yay! So excited for you. It really sucks to lose so much weight and still not be comfortable with your looks, both physically and mentally. Skin removal is a great tool to help with that. When I get to that road, I'll consider skin removal as well.

My dietitian was telling me that it usually takes my insurance company two or three weeks from the time it's submitted to be approved. That doesn't seem too bad. I'm just hoping that they do approve it, as I really don't want to have to appeal the decision. I hope your insurance company flies through it and approves you…

Congratulations! You've definitely got this. I'm really looking forward to hitting that milestone too! The last time I weighed 200 pounds is when I was 20, and that was 15 years ago.

My recent NSV was getting to finally set up an appointment with my surgeon to get things going. It's getting real now and that scares me!
