  • I had a sleeve done in 2017. Surgery weight was around 281 Lowest weight was 222 Today I weighed in at 258 It’s been a struggle. I stopped caring and started returning to old habits (stress/emotional eating) and regained most of the weight. Currently getting back to more mindful eating and portions. Hoping to lose my…
  • I struggled (and still struggle) with hunger. Finding out if it’s actual hunger or just head hunger caused by outside factors (such as stress or emotions) is important. I was someone who started getting hungry soon after surgery; I was told to eat more protein.
  • Thanks everyone! I’ve done better the past few days, and I’m taking all of your advice to heart.
  • Hey all! Well, I gained some weight back over the summer (7 pounds) that I’m now consciously trying to get rid of. Crazy how fast it comes back on when you’re not obsessively weighing yourself and counting every little calorie. I recently started doing Zumba class twice a week, and I’m walking all around campus. Glad to be…
  • Not quite to marathon levels yet, but I can chase my 4 year old son when he takes off from me. It’s great to be able to run after him now. I started jogging 2 laps around the track 4 days a week instead of just 2 days. I can see so much improvement over the last few weeks. It’s awesome.
  • I second everything that’s already been said. The wake up call for me is seeing people that had surgery around the same time as me that have lost so much more weight than me. I fell into previous habits. While I can’t eat as much at one sitting, i can still eat high calorie stuff. It’s very easy to indulge in chocolate and…
  • One of my friends has pretty much stopped communicating with me and I couldn’t figure out why. I pinpointed that the time she ghosted me is around the time I had surgery. She’s obese and has tried to lose weight, so I’m guessing she just doesn’t want to see my progress, as it likely makes her feel even worse about herself.…
  • I hate the cold, so walking as much as I did when it was warmer outside hasn’t been happening. Some people enjoy being out in 28 degree weather, but I’m definitely not one of them lol. I still walk to class/around campus during the week, however. I would like to find somewhere indoors where I can walk and get my steps in…
  • I started jogging around the track at my school’s gym one or two laps after my PE class, twice a week. I’m not out of breath for long, which is great. I never saw myself as a runner but maybe in a few more months!
  • I’m finally half-way to my first goal of getting to 180 pounds. I would love to hit one-derland for my birthday in January. Only 28 pounds to go!
  • My weight fluctuates quite a bit, so I only weigh myself in the morning, every couple of days or so.
  • Toss up between stuffing and pie
  • Totally I real thing. The morning after surgery I could smell the breakfasts being delivered to patients in other hospital rooms, and I was so hungry for everything. I wanted bacon and toast! Totally head hunger because how could I actually have been hungry? It’s the wanting/craving of things you can’t (shouldn’t) have. If…
  • I crushed my pills and mixed them into yogurt. Good luck on your journey!
  • Feel free to add me. I was sleeved in May.
  • I’ve attended a couple support meetings, (post-op.) A few people that go are post-op, but many are still in the 6 month waiting period and doing all of their pre-requisites. Basically at the meetings people vent about what’s on their minds about surgery or the process. Our dietitian is there for people to talk with. People…
  • Update: HW: 282 SW: 278 CW: 237 4 months post-op. My 2x and 3x shirts are getting big, and my size 24 pants are baggy. Size 22 pants fit, but are a little loose. Size 20 pants I can SQUEEZE into, but I’m not there yet. I have my 6 month post-op appointment coming up in November. Hopefully I’ll have some measurements to…
  • I was cleared at my 3 week post-op appointment to start exercising again. I didn’t do anything too strenuous for awhile though. Elliptical machine and water aerobics were my go to things after clearance.
  • I didn’t have to either. I just had to stick to a low calorie diet, healthy diet. My nutritionist said that the liver can hold up to 20 pounds of fat, so that’s why so many surgeons will recommend a liquid diet- to try to shrink that fatty liver as much as possible to give plenty of room to work with during the operation.
  • I also went with the sleeve because I didn't want things rerouted. Surgery and recovery for me were a breeze. I'm now 4 months post-op and having the tool of WLS has changed my life for the better. Whatever operation you decide on, I'm sure it will be worth it. The gift of weight loss is incredible.
  • My period was actually delayed two weeks because of my surgery, so not everyone has that happen-- better to be prepared I suppose! Bring comfy slippers for when you start walking the hospital hallways. Use the breathing machine thingy (that they give you) during commercial breaks on tv. You won't need a whole lot of stuff,…
  • Hey! I'm now joining the post-op world of dating. Loved reading this thread and had to dig it up. Anyone else getting out there and meeting people?
  • Hope it went well! Walk the hallways if everything is ok for you to do so. When you get home do lots of walking. You don't want to develop a blood clot, so work those legs! :) Don't rush the food stages. It's so easy to do, so don't be tempted.
  • I went with the sleeve because I didn't want things re-routed. However, I think it's easier to cheat with the sleeve. I've stretched my stomach way sooner than I should have. Not a whole lot, but enough to mess with my rate of weight loss.
  • My insurance required 6 months of dietitian appointments/weight management education classes, a sleep study, a psychological evaluation, and a physical therapist evaluation (for exercise). After the six months of classes are done and all other conditions are met, patients meet with the surgeon and schedule surgery. For me,…
  • I'm 3 months out and have my goal at 1,000 calories per day. Most days I eat more than that, so I make sure to make any extra eaten calories my exercise calories so that I stay around 1,000. I'm losing around 1.5 to 2 pounds a week.
  • I had sleeve surgery 3 months ago and I would do it again in a heart beat. My blood pressure is normal, my type 2 diabetes is reversed, and I'm more healthy and active than I've been all of my adult life so far. It's only a tool to help with weight loss, but a good one. I'm seeing a lot of negative on this thread toward…
  • Eat your lean proteins first, veggies second, then some starch/carbs if you have room. Filling up on protein is going to keep you fuller longer as it digests slower than some other things. Snack on proteins and veggies instead of the high carb stuff. My dietitian told me that processed carbs digest super quick and leave…
