I too would give ankle weights a swerve, not good for your knees. Re weights, you don't need proper ones, just find something convenient to use like a bag of sugar, large container of milk etc. (even better if you save a couple of old ones and just fill them with water). Just google workouts for women without weights,…

First of all, I'd say that your weight loss achievement has been awesome, well done! And i wouldn't have said that it has been slow either. I'm partly with you on the diet soda though, it might be very low in calories, but it is full of crap. I think it can slow weight loss as all the sweeteners can trigger the body to…

I'm heading off on a US road trip in September, I know that I'm going to be eating badly as a lot of food will be convenience purchases. This month I'm trying to be really really good so that I can just relax and enjoy. My aim will be to gain 5lbs max over the two weeks, then smash it again on my return. If you let your…

This is definitely sabotage, putting cookies on your desk when they know you are trying to lose weight is not being polite. It's what weak people do when they see somebody else being stronger and more successful than them. They are jealous of how well you are doing, it makes them feel like *kitten*. The worst group I have…

When I first started out I was a weekly weigh-er and found that if I happened to have one of the blips on my weigh day I could get disheartened and it could throw me off course for a couple of days. Doing it daily stops all that as you can see the blip pass…

Carbs, you're trying to run a sports car on water. We need fuel.

Awesome! Keep it up and don't be disheartened if week 2 or 3 are not as good, they probably won't be. If you're exercising also I would advise taking some measurements of your body as some weeks the non-scale victories can help to offset on-scale disappointment.

Really? I get hungry from walking to the toilet and back so many times...

It's really tough to help somebody to motivate themselves as we are all driven by different things. Identifying your goals can help, don't just say "I want to lose weight", actually decide exactly where you want to get to and when and then plan to achieve it. Include measurements (waist, chest etc.); as even when the scale…
