My husband was moaning about having no dessert in the house a few nights ago, and I made him a pudding that was so awesome I'm going to try it with stevia for myself: 1/2 cup coconut milk (with the cream mixed into the watery part) 1/2 cup whipping cream 2 Tbs unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 Tbs sugar for…

Okay, I'll increase my ACV and switch to mag glycinate and see if that helps. The only reason I use the mag citrate is the cost: I already spend huge amount of money on supplements, and now that we're retired our medical insurance doesn't cover as much of our prescriptions as it used to. Incidentally, I was looking up…

If you are hypothyroid you can't give up your medication. It's dangerous in the long term. Your body needs to have adequate thyroid levels for virtually every function. You'll just make yourself sick if you don't treat your thyroid disease. And yes, not taking your meds will make it very difficult to lose weight. If the…

No, see, most Canadians are way too polite to ever do this....

Magnesium citrate works for me. Salt water seems to have no effect at all.

I actually stopped obsessing over the numbers a couple of weeks ago and notice that I'm finally losing weight. I eat protein and fat and sometimes a bit of veg for brunch (we're retired), have a snack instead of lunch (maybe half an avocado with some salmon or tuna) and protein fat and low-carb vegetables for dinner.…

I love my coffee. I gave it up for a long time when my adrenals were really out of whack, and I felt truly deprived. Now that I can drink it again, I go all out. Whipping cream, yeah! And stevia. And sometimes I even use up some carbs on a teaspoon of sugar, because when I do that my coffee tastes so darn good and…

I can't see how this can be true. Our body size is, at its base, determined by our bones. Some people are tall, some short, some wide, some narrow. My male partner has MUCH bigger bones than I do. My mother has much bigger wrist bones than I do, even though she is slender -- bracelets that fit me don't fit her. My slender…

I wonder if that would help? It might be worth a shot. Or maybe, in my case, I had been hypo for so many years that anything would have helped me (my symptoms started at 6 and I wasn't diagnosed until 39). On the other hand, Synthroid gave me terrible foot cramps and insomnia. Life is just generally better on my Erfa…

Many of us do not do well on T4 only medications such as Synthroid. This is because our bodies do not properly convert T4, which is inactive, into T3, which is the active thyroid hormone that our bodies actually use. If you're on thyroid medication and you still have symptoms such as dry hair, insomnia, brittle nails and…

I'm working on my offensive glower these days, instead of apologizing when somebody bumps into me. :)

I get hungry before bed, too. I find a teaspoon of coconut oil mixed with a teaspoon of almond butter takes care of the growlies pretty well.

So - is there a Low Carb Geek board here somewhere? Because there's a whole lot of that going on here.

I also suffered a lot on a high-fibre/carby diet. I though I was doing myself good, but the reality was I was always bloated, constipated, and in pain from trapped gas. Horrible. Not going back to that, ever.

The problem is, I ALWAYS play an assassin/sneaksie thief type, so joining a group would be out for me. People tend not to enjoy the whole back-stabbity thing. ;)

Just stay the course. After 6 weeks I was beginning to think this was a huge fail for me, but just in the last couple of days I notice that my smaller bras fit properly all of a sudden. I'm adjusting my expectations to see the big picture -- one in which I stay small by developing entirely new eating habits that are…

Hah. Skyrim. Oh yeah. Assassin all the way, me. I love a Deadric dagger. And that Deadric Bow you get in Morrowind is my all-time favourite weapon of choice. That's gotta be a good upper-body workout, right?

Ah yes -- but they can eat Krema 11% greek yogurt. It's good for their little digestive systems. Or so says our vet, and my cat's fussy digestion seems to think so, too.

B) :D >:) I will never, ever, be able to hear the word, "Spam" without thinking of this skit.

[quote="canadjineh;37286991 I think you mean... he will end up dead at a much younger age, after going blind, having kidney problems, and both legs amputated.... Just sayin'....[/quote] That, too. It's like a smoker who can't quit. I don't get it, but that's because vanity has always trumped food, in my life.

Strong coffee Americano made in my Aeropress with a mixture of 18% coffee cream and whipping cream, plus stevia. I've learned to like my coffee less sweet than I used to and now stevia alone works, where before I always added a bit of sugar in the past.

Thank you. Problem is, he's in denial. So's his very large wife.

You know, once I began taking Synthroid the cold sores just stopped. It had obviously got to the point where I just had no immune system left and the virus was constantly attacking me. I don'think I've had five cold sores in the last 20 years, since I was diagnosed.

I see it over and over again. One friend, who I've been urging to try low-carb for years, has finally developed diabetes. He isn't on insulin yet. His doctor told him to go on a low-carb diet. He did and lost 50 pounds. But last time we saw him he had gained 25 pounds back in less than 6 months. Why? He simply cannot give…

A lot of people I know feel that the diet is doomed to fail once the dieter starts to add carbs back in and starts to eat "normally." I always counter this by pointing out that that is true of any diet; if the person goes back to their old eating habits, then of course the weight will come back. I've seen that to be true…

Oh yeah. I lived most of my young adult life wondering why I felt so awful when various doctors were telling me there was nothing physically wrong with me (it was obviously all in my head). Then a doctor at the herpes clinic at UBC (I had cold sores 50% of the time) took a single glance at my neck and wrote a fairly strong…

And today it was leftover lamb Korma and coconut curry cauliflower.
