Depends on your goals. The three classes you mention offer different results: spin builds endurance; yoga flexibility; Pilates core strength. If you are primarily a runner, yoga & Pilates are probably the most beneficial to running.

Look for an outlet store. The outlet mall nearest me as an UA outlet store. The merchandise isn't exactly the same as their regular line, but it's good quality and styling at a good price. Also check your local sporting goods stores for end of season sales. While selection of sale merchandise is limited, there are deals to…

Congratulations on your incredible weight loss! As others said, they don't work. I tried both OTC and prescription under a weight loss doctor run clinic. They only thing that got skinny was my wallet.

See a sports medicine doctor. Healing happens faster when you know what your injury is and the proper way to treat it.

A couple studies on muscle cramping on more than 200 triathletes and 75 runners concluded its not dehydration or low electrolytes, rather muscle cramps during exercise is caused by a neuromuscular response. Preventive approach is plyometrics (dynamic) warmup. If you get a cramp, stretching will help. I try to do a full…

I disagree with #4 & 5. Women should not expected to put up with stares, comments, etc for using a facility in which they are a paid member. Men do not check their common courtesy and civility at the gym door and subsquently treat everyone in the gym "like one of the guys." I've raised two boys into men. My youngest at 24…

I use the same camelback that nutmegoreo posted. I don't even notice it on me. I think it's a matter of getting accustomed to running with a hydration pack. I tried a few waist bottle holders but the bounce drove me to the edge of insanity. I don't know about road runners, but ultra trail runners stash water jugs along…

Keep losing weight and the belly fat will eventually go. And reall ab exercises don't do much to condition and develop the ab anyway. It's heavy squats will do more for abs than 1000 crunches. I am the Queen of Hate All Ab exercises. I only performed two or three ab exercises maybe once a week. After losing over 70 lbs I…

Really it depends on where and how you walk. I regularly hike (and hiking is walking) over rugged terrain. My "home" trail has an elevation gain of 1200 feet. At a minimum my hikes are 5 miles. I carry a backpack with food, water, and emergency supplies that averages 10-15 lbs. Several times a year I'll hike 10-15 miles…

IASTM (Graston) Therapy. I had it done on both feet for plantar fasciitis and on abdominal scar tissue some months after major surgery. Prior to Gaston, I had spent months in physical therapy and received 8 cortisone shots for plantar fasciitis. None of it helped much. The Gaston not only relieved my pain, but I haven't…

I'm celiac. Never, never would I choose to be gluten free otherwise. The problem with people jumping on the gluten free fad diet it the horrible backlash/pushback by society for those of us with a real disease. People don't understand how serious celiac disease can be. My doctor tells me research scientist have long…

@Lorrpb that voice kept repeating words that made me focus on what I wanted to achieve...Power. Strength. Courage. It sounds silly, but affirmation makes the difference between success and failure. I finally realized there is a moment in every workout, every run, every ride that I have to make a decision--the decision to…

I love my sweets. Had to have a sweet after every meal. I decided to go cold turkey and not eat anything sweet and not add sugar (honey) in my daily oatmeal and yogurt. First 3 weeks cravings were strong, but I'd tell myself I wasn't going to let a dang piece of candy control my life. Now I don't really crave sweets and…

You need to reduce body fat and build muscle to looked ripped (six pack, shoulder caps, etc). Standard bodybuilder approach is to bulk (build muscle), then cut (reduce fat). Building muscle doesn't preclude cardio activities. But it sounds like you are concerned about strength & speed given your goals. Marathon is…

32DD. I swear by Victoria Secret for cardio of any kind. Otherwise I live in Natori. I own some 40 bras in every brand. But Victoria Secret & Natori are my favorites. Did not like the feel of Moving Comfort, I felt smashed in it; but I know women who like that brand.

I'd recommend Bret Contreras and Kellie Davis' book Strong Curves A Woman's Guide To Building A Better Butt And Body. It's specific to women and emphasizes total body development. No offense meant, but you will never develop strength or shapely muscle with the weight you are using. I lift very light by strength training…

Wow--you've had some serious shoulder problems. I think with a medical history like yours, only your surgeon should be advising you on appropriate exercises.

I too, am an early morning runner. I went around and around with my nutritionist who was adamant I not run fasted. I tried energy gels as a way of getting around it. But gels made me sick. Sweet things like energy bars made me hit a wall as soon as my blood sugar dropped from the spike. But when I transitioned from road to…

I'm not a doctor but I've had a lot of running injuries over the past few years. In treatment the doctor (sports medicine) told me RICE is not necessarily the best approach. A burning sensation is often a sign of tendonitis, which is inflammation even if there's no visible swelling. A burning sensation on the side of the…

Amphipod airflow waistband. Extremely light weight stretchy mesh pouch. Love that it stretches. Holds my IPhone, keys, and ID. I think they call it the Day of Race holder now. Mine is as old as the hills and still going strong

When I started squatting, I couldn't get half way down. Now I can almost touch the floor with my glutes and my back is straight, shoulders back. What I did and still do to maintain mobility are: Foam roller legs and back especially the lumbar (use a black roller only. The white is way too soft to do any good) Lacrosse ball…

My son is a trainer and he tells me most have little or no education. He said the certification is a joke, a simple test that they practically feed you the answers to in the prep class to ensure you pass. I've hired personal trainers three times. First and foremost for me is a college degree in some area of physiology or…

Thank you for the replies. Ivanfawcettgibson, as I left the house I thought about spare tubes, but decided to go light. My mistake. @jacksonpt, great advise to talk to my local bike shop for assistance in selecting best tires for the area. I'm going to look into Kevlar. You are correct in that I was not on a public trail.…

Things to try: 1. Foam rolling before AND after running. 2. Shorten your stride 3. Cadence, even if you are still doing walk/run, cadence is important to develop a good gait 4. Glute activation and strengthening. It takes a couple of months for glutes to start firing after you begin a glute program. If your glutes don't…
