  • OP I would trust what your HR monitor is saying and if you're not losing as much as expected reduce your intake accordingly. I walk about 17 minutes to work each day not much heavier (a couple of lbs) than you and I burn about 120 cals in that time, that has decreased over the last few months as I've got a bit…
  • Another vote for Salter, and I second the advice to use a hard flat surface.
  • If OP is in the UK then eating a more healthy diet shouldn't really cost more, supermarkets are competing with each other like never before for lower prices. Sounds like the problem is what she's eating and that she's preparing 2 separate meals, which would cost more I assume no matter what 2 meals you were cooking... if…
  • I'm in the UK, I've been at this a while but in a bit if a slump post Christmas! Need to get back into it, feel free to add me
  • I'm 5'4" and currently 185lbs, down from 215lbs. I haven't settled on a goal yet but want to lose at least another 30 to get to where I was at my smallest adult weight. I'll see how I feel when I get there! Anyone feel free to add me
  • I'm 33, 5'4" and currently 187lbs, I started at 214lbs and want lose a minimum of 30 more lbs though in reality probably more like 40/50. I started as a UK 16 and can now wear 14s, though not in everything, I'd be happy to get to a 12 but would love to be a 10, I've never been a 10 before in my life! Anyone feel free to…
  • I'm in Leeds, feel free to add me
  • Some great words of advice from Tom, the other thing I would add is don't give yourself too severe a calorie target. I've tried this many times over the years and haven't made it past day one, I had a 1200 target and I'd usually eaten most of that by lunch time, I never bothered entering Dinner, it was clear I just…
  • That's my hometown, sadly I'm currently living in Leeds, otherwise I would definitely have taken you up on it! Good luck finding a walking partner
  • I work the occasional kid sized chocolate bar into my allowance, I get the satisfaction of eating the chocolate without the fear of eating too much!
  • I saw a gain of a few lbs when I started the 30 day shred, I'd finally got under 200 and then the next day I had gained 4 or 5 lbs, it wouldn't shift for a couple of weeks and was disheartening. I powered through following the plan and after a couple of weeks finally saw the scale go back down. It's possible the new…
  • You're in your final year of medical school, you must have loads of self-discipline! It's just redirected right now, don't be so hard on yourself! As the above poster said, maybe try sticking to maintenance to avoid further gain and start looking to incorporate small changes that can have an impact until you're ready.
  • Does your fitbit add exercise calories into MFP? When I had mine set up to do this the adjustment it made was ridiculously high. I ended up changing the settings and adding exercise in manually.
  • I have taken to eating smaller, low calorie breakfasts and lunches saving the bulk of my calories for dinner, this has meant that I haven't really had to change the way we eat evening meals, other than being a bit more mindful of portion sizes. The other thing I've done is taken more control over cooking, which you might…
  • Fantastic progress, well done!
  • It hasn't been an issue for me, it doesn't seem likely, but I'm no doctor. I would suggest following the plan and see what happens, if it seems like it might be stopping weight loss then there are other BC pills that can be tried.
  • I work out at home, currently doing 30 day shred on YouTube but might need to look into something else while I strengthen my knees, happy to be friends with anyone to share ideas and offer support!
  • I know how you feel, I have experienced this, and still do occasionally. When you're first starting you just have to power through as you are doing, the occasional cheat meal helps, nothing too drastic but just one meal a week where you don't think about calories and just eat what you want. Over time it will get easier,…
  • I'll check it out, thanks.
  • I was pretty sore for the whole first week. Finally took a rest day and that helped a lot. Second week not so bad. I also do more cool down stretching than Jillian does though, otherwise my quads and calves are way too tight. [/quote] That's a great idea, don't know why I never thought to do more stretching, except maybe…
  • Feel free to add me, I just started (through youtube), like you I haven't done anything in a while and I had to take 2 days off after the first day, never known muscle soreness like it! I didn't let it stop me though, I did my 2nd day yesterday and still sore today, but no where near as bad! I'll probably skip today and…
  • I've found the light breakfast and lunch followed by bigger evening meal helped me too, I know if I'm not satisfied in the evening I will start searching for snacks! The advice of starting slow I've heard a few times too, losing weight is going to take a long time so why dive in if you can't stick to it? I've tried several…
  • I'm from the UK, Leeds specifically, anyone can add me!
  • Hi, anyone can add me, also looking for friends for motivation!
  • Hi Lil I've had this app for years and couldn't get going with it, over that time my weight has continued to creep up. I've really struggled to get off the ground and then a couple of weeks ago something clicked and I was finally ready. The only thing I can attribute it to is seeing some of the success stories on here,…
