I am really enjoying Lyle MacDonald's "The Ketogenic Diet". I like how he goes into not only what ketogenic diets are, but why and how they work, without getting too crossed up in either overly technical terminology or overly simplified generalizations.

Nice intro./overview here: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb Nice groups to join here:https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum…

Hi Sarah - This sounds familiar. This might help you: https://www.healthline.com/health/idiopathic-postprandial-syndrome#symptoms I found reducing carbohydrate percentage of my diet helped a great deal, as did daily cardio exercise, smaller in between meals as my schedule allows, and increasing my protein intake using…

How are calories "accessed" or "not accessed"? Sooo, if the "compartment" is the known universe, some calories can be "willed" into an alternate parallel universe by skipping breakfast?

Well two perfectly logical explanations exist: 1. The body's hormones are capable of creating or destroying matter and energy at the whim of the intermittent fasting participant. 2. Some people in the study's sample were insulin resistant, and the reduction in insulin caused a reduction in their appetite, and subsequently…

The body undergoes adaptations including generating ketone bodies when carbohydrates are restricted typically below 100gm. daily (L. MacDonald, "The Ketogenic Diet", p.11). These adaptations occur irrespective of…

All three are great tools. TRX - great choice; it's a gym that stows in a bag. But it took me a while to learn it. If possible seek out a trainer or a class instructor that knows it well. Small changes in position from the anchor point yield big changes in load. Also, remember to not simply repeat the exercise, but try to…

Congrats on leaving the pre-diabetic zone :) I turned to snacks that do not rapidly change blood sugar (protein shake or greek yogurt or celery and salt or cheese stick or jerky) and these seem to "even things out" for me. Best wishes for continued success!

I like rice cakes for satiation. But caution, they do tend to "bind you up" so to speak...

I remember the time when mom went to work outside the home - unheard of in those days - to help "make ends meet". Hamburger appeared in the Hamburger Helper; scared the crap out of me the first time.
