Another week in paradise...

Good morning GOADies; make it a good one!

So, exactly how do we fit a "lifestyle" into our busy lives and schedules? Or, should we be fitting everything else into our "lifestyle?" I realized that for me to make this a lifestyle, I needed to focus on the place I would get the most benefit, without it being a huge impact on the rest of my life (kudos right now to my…

How much do you suffer through your program? Do you think weight loss success depends on ones ability to endure painful changes? Is it all a matter of choosing between competing miseries? Is suffering the basis of time driven weight loss? Do you think people are in a hurry to get to goal to end the pain? Why do folks think…

Do you have rules about what percentage of your overall calories you allow for NUFs? If so, do you limit them on a daily/ weekly/ monthly basis or some other way? If you monitor NUFs less formally, describe your process. Has this changed over the years? No rules on NUFs for me, but they aren't a significant part of my…

Thanks @steve0mania for dealing this wild card! My question is: do you have "constraints" to your diet plan that you find challenging to incorporate? WW always used to talk about Thanksgiving, but are there other issues you have to manage? How do you handle them? How do you decide your priorities? Does weight-management…

Signs of Spring everywhere...I'm lovin' it!

I AM here!

Slumps: We all have them at some point or another. Many of us have been around for a while and periodically have them. Through your LTL journey What did you do mentally or psychologically to help pull you out of your slump. Or what do you feel was a mental adjustment helped you overcome it. I realized that I conveniently…

How about you? Is this an issue you face? If so, how do you deal with it? How do you mitigate the impacts of such issues on your efforts to achieve a healthier lifestyle? I'm sorry for those people for whom food allergies are significant issues! I am fortunate (again) in that I don't have any such reactions to any foods…

Why don’t you quit? C’mon, face it, it’s all a pain in the neck isn’t it? Why bother? Damn good question. There's a couple / few things that keep me going. I guess first and foremost is that I really appreciate the NSVs that have come with life in a smaller, healthier body. I can participate in life more fully and…

Interesting, Emmie. My schedule was pretty whacky and I didn't weigh myself for much of last Summer and Fall--but I did track. At those intermittent times I went to a WW meeting and weighed there, I found I was able to maintain my weight, more or less (not fluctuating greatly, and especially not upward). I hope your…

Here again...

1. Do you have an accountability program such as going to WW meeting weekly? And is that sufficient for you.? Not so much any more. I do go to meetings--usually about twice a month. Really my accountability is in the way my clothes fit. I weigh myself most every day and of course, it fluctuates. However, I've been wearing…

You’ve seen the posts, “I know what I have to do.” Do you know what you have to do? Are you doing it? If not, why not? I knew the largest part of what I had to do and did it (and still do it): cut back on my portions and make healthier choices. Those things, combined with the structure WW provided, helped me get the bulk…

It's here!

Maybe this concept should be filed under "intuitive eating" as well? B) I was talking with a returning WW guy at my meeting this week and we both agreed that more than anything else, cutting portion size was key to our respective weight loss. For the most part, when I look at portions as big as the ones I routinely used to…

WTG, @Jimb376mfp ! But you know the drill; was it Charlie that used to say we always get the weight we deserve, but not necessarily when we expect it?

I've not attempted to track sleep time but we have a couple pets that can be disruptive thru the night. Our vet told us we cannot overdose our animals with melatonin. Since starting them on doses of it, and having them sleep through the night, I sure feel a lot better when I get "a full night's sleep".

For many, Springtime is a time of hope. Applying that concept to our journey here on GoaD, what do you hope to accomplish now that Spring is rolling around? This is the year of C25K for me. My preference is to do my training outside so I'm hoping to get a good start on that program this Spring. We have two sunny days and…

Sunny and (relatively) warm today; love it!

Is there a time of year where you dedicate an extended period (e.g. several weeks) to abstaining from something or dedicate time to renewing yourself? Is it the same time every year or on an as-needed basis? Are you more focused on physical, mental or spiritual improvements during these times? Not really, unless you count…

I saw this last week but didn't make time or have desire to respond using my phone. In general though, I think you've hit my nail on the head, @linmueller . I agree with much of what others wrote here. My experience is similar in that long ago (as in decades), I created the pattern of reacting to stress or anxiety with…
