Cauliflower, carrots, Trader Joe’s multigrain crackers (about 10 cal/cracker)

I’m going to loosely log, but allow myself to go up to or over maintenance calories. Then I’ll get right back to my calorie deficit on Friday and over the weekend. I’m also going to run in the morning as a preemptive strike on at least some of those Thanksgiving calories!

I’m intrigued by this idea. Have you done this yourself and found it helpful? I’m trying to wrap my head around how that would work.

Stress eating. I was doing great for several weeks, then this past week hit me and I've gone way over my calories. For this week I'll have gained about half a lb instead of losing half a lb. Not so terrible if it's just this one week. I just need to get back on track, stress or not!!

Black bean burger in a tortilla with avocado, onions, pepper jack cheese, and green dragon hot sauce from Trader Joe's. Yum.

Ok, thanks for the replies. Some say it's protein--so I guess that means I'm reducing the total protein I'm getting if I remove it? Or would it be negligible? Do others remove it, or do you just eat it? There can be a LOT of it when I cook up 2.5 lbs of meat?

A hot glazed Krispy Kreme donut!! I'm already dreaming about the next one...

I take magnesium, and I definitely have much more vivid, memorable dreams as a result. A couple of others that I know take it also have vivid dreams from it. But it's never made me sleepwalk. If you have a history of sleepwalking, though, maybe it would exacerbate it?

I'm a female, 5'6", and I used to eat foot long veggie subs from Subway. Now I can just eat a 6" turkey sub and feel pretty full (especially eating slowly, like you said).

This has happened for me with various foods, for different reasons. I no longer ever have milk (never loved it) or diet sodas (just felt too dependent, went cold-turkey). I've cut way back on nuts and nut butters due to the calorie density and my own lack of self-control with them. Chips I keep to a minimum in the house…

I'm curious--do you somehow treat/heat these to eliminate Salmonella poisoning? And, do you eat them straight up with the chocolate, or grind them up? I could see adding an egg shell powder to a smoothie or something.

I would love to try this, but I only drink decaf. I wonder if I can find a decaf blonde roast? I can't be bothered to grind my own beans, so I just buy them already ground. Usually Starbucks decaf House blend, or maybe Dunkin' Donuts decaf. Sometimes I'll try some of the organic decaf coffees if I can find them. I do…

I agree, obviously OP is simply asking who logs and/or counts calories to be sure they're in a deficit for weight loss. This is the only way I've ever lost weight, even 20 years ago when I kept track on paper. I can lose weight on 1600 to 1800 cal per day, +50% of my exercise calories. Maintenance I haven't done so well at…

1. Cadbury eggs (I bought up a ton of them after Easter, on sale) 2. Chicken patty (Costco) with melted cheese, onion, avocado, sometimes on its own, sometimes on bread or a bun 3. Homemade sushi! I use cucumber, carrots, avocado, and sometimes cooked shrimp if I have it. If I'm lazy I'll just make a sushi bowl without the…

Zucchini noodles, cauliflower rice, Greek yogurt. I felt like they were all so hyped up, and I didn't want to drink the Koolaid. Once I actually tried them, I was hooked! Kombucha and nutritional yeast...I still can't get myself to try.

To this, I'll just add what I HAVE given up: soft drinks --I used to drink 4 diet sodas a day, but gave them up cold turkey about 21 years ago. I never looked back and never missed them. More recently, I've replaced a daily Snickers bar with 85-90% dark chocolate. I still get the chocolate I love, with less sugar and no…

Fage 2% with fruit--120-130 cal, Raw cauliflower/carrots with a serving of hummus--80 to 150 depending on the hummus, banana--can range from 70 to 130 cal, boiled egg--75 cal, half of a protein or trail mix bar--100-ish cal I tend to have 2 or 3 of these as my midday snack. Sometimes one will do, but it depends on the day,…

Same here. Mine are preventricular contractions, which are fairly benign, at least in my case. I've never had tightness or shortness of breath, and I've never really had them during exercise. They are usually brought on by stress, anxiety, or caffeine, and sometimes when I run up the stairs and then stop or lay down. I…

Homemade sushi--vegetable and shrimp

Coffee, dark chocolate (okay, any chocolate), wine, beer So mostly drinks! But I make them all fit into my daily calories. Not willing to cut back on any at the moment.

A small snack size candy bar satisfies my sweet tooth and doesn't break the calorie bank. Sometimes I'll have a hot dog in a bun, which feels like I'm "cheating" (I don't really use that word), but it's only about 250 calories. We also make individual homemade pizzas using flour tortillas. About 300 cal each, and satisfies…

I eat back half of what the machines or my pedometer read out says. I've lost weight just fine doing this. I also find it good incentive for me to workout, even if it's just walking, so that I can eat more!

As others have said, do not do a water fast to lose weight. I have done (not to lose weight), and no, with no other health issues it's not dangerous within a reasonable period of time. However, in my experience, it will not help you to eat less afterwards. I've done several fasts, and each time I've had an increased…

Another tip that might help – – I used to "count calories" as they came throughout the day, but I always found myself going over my limit. Once I started pre-logging, that helped me to see where I could take something else out in case I eat something unexpectedly, like a brownie I wasn't planning on!
-
I'm the same – – if left unchecked, I could probably easily eat 3000 cal a day, and gain weight. I'm currently "dieting" because I'm aiming to lose weight by eating at a deficit. My method of doing so is a lifestyle change, whereby I will have to manage and log my calories to be sure I'm staying within my calorie…

Same here! I even had to clean my dessert plate when it was peaches and cottage cheese – – blecchh!! To this day I can't even look at cottage cheese. But I do clean my plate!

I'm never sure what people mean by meal prep – – is this meals you want for lunch for the week just for yourself, that you know have a certain number of calories? Or is it meal prep for your dinner meals with the family so that you don't have to cook every evening? I envisioned "meal prep" meaning that people make a large…

I forgot the fruit in the freezer for smoothies, and the beer and wine in the pantry! Family of 5, items needed for school lunches, home-cooked meals, quick grab and go convenience foods, healthy snacks for the kids, fresh fruits and vegetables, etc. Somehow, it all adds up!

Refrigerator: regular yogurt for husband and kids, Greek yogurt for me, carrots, cauliflower, grape tomatoes, avocado, onions, celery, cucumber, zucchini (for zoodles), apples, clementines, peanut butter, jelly, eggs, butter, mustard, ketchup, salsa, jalapeños, Green Dragon hot sauce from Trader Joe's, habanero hot sauce…

I will throw up if I let the cramps get too bad...so I take ibuprofen at the very first twinge, and that takes care of it. Have you tried a pain reliever to deal with the cramps? Maybe it would make you feel well enough to eat more?
