For me it’s almost all health-related. Reducing heart attack and stroke risk factors. I have a high visceral fat burden (read: a toxic waist) that is driving chronic inflammation, insulin resistance, impaired glucose tolerance, inching toward diabetes. I’ve steered away from ultra processed foods in the last year, aiming for a more Whole Foods diet, which is doubtless healthier. Canned and frozen foods can be healthy if they’re minimally processed.

I gain weight on “extras”: desserts and snacks ( especially late night) Some of this is the result of poor planning. Some is the result of cravings/hunger. I’ve recently switched to fruit for dessert. I also make sure that every meal includes plenty of protein, to increase satiety. I do well avoiding ultra processed foods…

@cakeman—Sorry to hear about your cardiac issues—heart attack and recent issues restricting your ability to move. I have coronary blockages and a genetic issue that puts me at high risk for heart attack or stroke. Keeping up with regular monitoring and visits with cardiologist.
