  • Strong and black here. Coffee is the best!
  • Congratulations on 20 years!
  • This is correlation, not causation. Generally speaking, people who drink heavily are not eating appropriately (at least, from what I've seen in the patients I've cared for), which would also explain their lack of vitamins B and D (as well as many other micronutrients).
  • I was also going to ask if there was a chance you could be pregnant. Each of the three times I was pregnant, the first sign I had was having to pee several times per night.
  • Cholesterol is actually something your body needs - have eggs. They're full of protein, and the fat in them helps with satiety. The cholesterol in them is good for cell and connective tissue construction.
  • I don't think alcohol slows your metabolism down, unless maybe you're talking about someone who drinks so excessively that they don't eat. I think the actual problem is the empty calories that are being consumed. I drink 1-2 glasses of wine occasionally and it hasn't affected my weight loss. (My lack of willpower with crap…
  • This is a great analogy/visual.
  • It totally makes sense. A 500-700 weekly calorie deficit actually makes sense for losing about a pound a month, though. If 1 lb of weight loss equals a deficit of 3500 calories, then I think you're probably doing pretty well. I know it's frustrating, but keeping it slow and steady is probably the best way to do it.…
  • At 5'10" 140 seems awfully low. I'm 5'7" and at 140, I think I looked really good (but I'm also medium build and very curvy - hourglass shaped). I think you would probably do better with doing some weight training and some body weight exercises to tone and shape your muscles - the definition will probably give you more of…
  • How long have you been on the pred? I would think its a combination of the fact that you're getting closer to your goal weight (as queenliz mentioned) and the prednisolone - one of the side effects is weight gain, and in the patients I've had, the weight gain is usually pretty pronounced.
  • I have to say that it's been really interesting hearing the range of sizes even with women of similar weights and heights. It really illustrates that clothing sizes (especially women's clothing sizes) are mostly just arbitrary numbers that some of us use to judge ourselves and others.
  • 5'71/2", 185 lbs, size 14. When I'm at my goal, I'll probably wear anywhere between a size 8 and a size 12, depending on the brand. I'm also loving Torrid's 00 size - it fits perfectly.
  • Ah okay. Unfortunately, I've not been to basic in over 20 years, and I'm certain it's changed since then. I would recommend being able to do the minimum amount of pushups and situps that you're required to do to pass your pt test before you go - aside from that, they'll make sure you can do more than that before you leave.…
  • The problem with not eating enough is that your body will eventually go into starvation mode and hold on to every single calorie you eat to ensure that your brain and other vital organs have the glucose and other nutrients that they need to function. Additionally, because you're not exercising, your body will also tear…
  • Are you trying to go enlisted side or officer side?
  • I tried Plexus as I have a friend who is fighting breast cancer who tried it and raves about it. All it did was make my migraines way worse. So, I decided to ditch it. But when I tried to do the 60 day money back guarantee, I called and got the authorization code, mailed them back and somehow it took more than 60 days for…
  • My ex was like that. He'd go out and run half marathon distances, and then light up a cigarette as soon as he was done (there were a couple of times I ran with him and he lit up in the middle of the run - I wanted to kick him). He ate garbage, drank like a fish, and smoked at least a pack a day. I don't even know how his…
  • Add me if you like, I eat mainly standard unprocessed foods. The only thing that I eat that might not be considered standard is the yogurt I eat for breakfast (Light and Fit Greek Yogurt), but I think there are very few places in the world where you wouldn't be able to get yogurt. I generally keep my calories under 1200.…
  • Definitely start with either the coke or the starbucks at first. You didn't start out drinking both as much as you currently do - I assume it was a gradual process. As a fellow caffeine addict, I completely get how hard it is to cut back. So, I would start with the Coke - switch to Coke Zero or Diet Coke (I like Zero…
  • Welcome!

  • Welcome! I am super envious - I'll bet it's just beautiful where you are. Good luck on your journey - there seem to be a lot of supportive people here. What type of foods do you like to cook?
  • I'm 5'7 1/2" (that half is really important lol) and my ultimate goal is somewhere between 145-150. I was 152 a few years ago when I came back from a deployment overseas and I looked fantastic. I'm currently at 181, so I have a bit to go.
  • I love Coke Zero, and diet cranberry ginger ale. Otherwise, it's either water or water with a splash of Mio. Oh, and black coffee.... I'll never give that up.
  • My flex went through multiple cycles in the dishwasher (it had fallen in the bottom and no one noticed) and other than having to replace the band, it's still going strong.
  • I think the fitbut calculates the amount of calories you burn just in daily metabolic functions - if you were to lay in a bed and not move at all, you burn a certain amount of calories just in the daily function of your cells and tissues. That's probably what you're seeing.
