I probably eat it a couple of times per week - old fashioned or steel cut oats (depends on how much time I have) mixed with about 10 g protein powder with a little cinnamon sprinkled on top, and 100 g of fruit on the side.

JFT I will log everything Drink four big glasses of water Eat a reasonable dinner Avoid emotional eating

Unhealthy? Not necessarily. However if you're not used to doing that much, and you suddenly ramp up the intensity/amount of exercise, you do risk injuring yourself. I'm currently nursing a soleus tear because I increased my run mileage faster than my body was ready for me to increase. I think a day or two of being under…

JFT, Sunday 1. Hop back on the wagon - starting now. 2. Stop beating yourself up for the oreos 3. Eat a reasonable dinner 4. Study for tomorrow's biochem final. 5. Drink one more large glass of water. 6. You can do this!

I really like Skinnytaste.com for good low cal recipes.

That's true, but they don't generally use myoglobin for tracking cardiac damage. They use troponin because it's a protein that is specific to damaged heart muscle. Also, if one has rhabdomyolysis, one will likely have coca-cola colored urine as a result of the myoglobin in the urine.

Do you have a citation to back up the snark? Because while I was guestimating high (notice I said "I'm guessing less than that), everything I've read indicates that the average woman can gain a pound of muscle per month.
-
There's really no need to be snide. How much muscle mass she's built would depend on a lot of different factors, but at the upper limit? Probably 1-1.5 lbs. I'm guessing less than that. But there's also accompanying water retention as the muscle tissues repair and rebuild too, so that will add to the weight as well.
-
You're probably building those muscles. Muscle fiber is more dense than fat tissue, so equal weights of the two will take up substantially different amounts of space. 5 lbs of muscle takes up less space than 5 lbs of fat - so it makes sense that you would be losing inches, even though your actual weight appears to be…

This article from Men's Fitness seems to address the abdominal bloating issue pretty well. http://www.mensfitness.com/training/training-qa-is-my-workout-making-me-bloated Bottom line is that it's pretty normal, it's related to your body's stress response - continue to drink plenty of water, and it should mostly resolve on…

I don't know about you, but I sure thought quicksand was going to be much more common than it apparently is.... seems like the Dukes of Hazzard and Wonder Woman were always falling into the stuff....

Yes! Usually because it's still on after the kids have gone to bed... HYE lived in a foreign country?

I had my gallbladder out three years ago. After the surgery, I felt so much better! The only downside is that I have to be really careful to limit fat intake - otherwise I'll have really bad GI distress. Good luck with your surgery! I hope it goes smoothly.

Anxiety disorder here. Managed with meds, but even with my meds, I still struggle.

The only place I lost weight when I tried Plexus was in my bank account. It made my migraines worse and more frequent. And when I cancelled, they kept sending me product; I returned it, and they held the return until it was past the 60 day money back period. You're better off flushing your $200 down the toilet, IMO.
-
I'm a doctoral student -does that put me in the okay to ask questions category or in the shut my mouth category? Does the fact that I'm already a practicing critical care nurse change that? #askingforafriend
-
The only things Plexus did for me was lighten my wallet and make my migraines worse. You're better off flushing that $200/month down the toilet honestly.

Technically, it's a fruit smoothie...

You sound to me like you're listening to your body and like you're doing well. Good job.

I'm a big fan of Tiger Balm or Icy Hot for sore muscles. Or, pop 800 mg of Ibuprofen (unless you have kidney issues - then cut that in half) and take a hot bath or shower. Gentle stretching - you don't want to stop moving it altogether or it could spasm (and that hurts a heck of a lot more). Those are my go tos for muscle…

So much judgement in here. :o OP, I'm sorry that it seems you're in a crappy situation. Do what you need to do to take care of you and your sons. I've been there, done that, and I have the crappy t-shirt (and the signed divorce papers too). I would say, on the food topic, maybe you can come to some agreement where on the…

Echoing what everyone else has said. Cancel your gym membership if you hate it so much. I didn't like the gym either. So, I started belly dancing. And I try running a couple of days per week because I enjoy it. I do Tabata a couple of times per week because I need to build strength. There's a wealth of options out there…

Beer is just disgusting in general.

I love my Kitchenaid blender. It works beautifully for smoothies and is easy to clean.

If I go to Starbucks, I'll get a Red eye (a small black coffee with a shot of espresso in it) or sometimes I'll get a nonfat latte (no flavoring, no sweetener, although you could go with a sugar free sweetener if you want to keep the calories down). If I go for the latte, I work those calories into my plan for the day. If…

The day I give up coffee is the day they pry it out of my cold dead fingers. While I love bread, it doesn't really love me at breakfast time - I end up with the shakes by 10 am if I eat just coffee and toast for breakfast. I usually have an egg white omelet with spinach, mushrooms, caramelized onions, or sometimes an egg…
