Medical error is the third leading cause of death in the US FYI. I don’t advocate abandoning modern medicine because it sometimes doesn’t work out. Why would I advocate abandoning alternative medicine because it sometimes doesn’t work out? I also have a hard time thinking of a better reason to support someone than they are…

People need to stop acting as if modern, empirical based medicine is infallible. It’s absolutely not. People treated by medical doctors remain sick or die despite treatment all the time, just like they do when they visit holistic or alternative practitioners instead. People treated by medical doctors GET sick or die…

When you see someone doing something horribly wrong at the gym, you're not supposed to correct their form or teach them to use the equipment properly--you're supposed to take a video with your phone and post on YouTube and facebook so we can all have a laugh at someone else's expense.

I wish I could do more than one reaction to a post. The replies to my post are insightful and awesome! LOL

You're no prize winner yourself. Just saying. :p I'm a big believer in the principle of similar attractiveness.

Too funny. I was like "How the holy hell do you get 40?" And then I was like "Ooooh, thanks for explaining that."

This is a relatively recent development. I'm not sure what can be be done with Aquaman but Jason Momoa does look promising and they're doing a good job with most superheroes these days. That said, when all your enemies have to do is stand 5' away from the water, you suck. Aquaman has long been the laughing stock of the…

OMG. We finished Ironfist and are almost all the way through The Defenders--last episode tonight. Ironfist is even worse than I thought! He is the absolute worst! Worse than Aquaman!! He's not even a character; he's a plot device, he's the woman in the fridge. Everything about the show is very good except Danny Rand. UGH!

This is a recomp. You have just told him not to recomp and then advised him to recomp. You gave the same advice given by ninerbuff, sgt1372 and sijomial. FWIW, cutting is generally recognized as a 500cal deficit and probably should not be maintained for 4-6 months unless you are looking to lose weight because you are too…

As much as I don't care for The Big Bang Theory, I will hand it to them for having the most accurate portrayal of a Dungeons and Dragons session that I've ever seen on a TV show.

I'm curious how you would know anything about the relationship with the mother based on the information provided that makes no mention of the mother other than to say OP and his wife (who may not even be the "mom") don't want to put him in a group home? I'm sorry but no medical practitioner I know offers an opinion based…

OP made no mention of disability. As a 42 y/o woman with a very similar diagnosis (bipolar with severe depression), I can assure you that bipolar disorder does not impair your mental age or cognitive abilities. With proper care and medication, one can even lead a fairly normal life. It definitely doesn't mean that you…

The first step is to stop thinking of a 37 y/o man as a "kid." He's not a child; he's an adult regardless of his mental illness and you aren't doing him any favours by enabling him to live this way.

I mentioned "The Invitation" to husband. He's the acquisitionist in the house. Thanks for the recommendation. Your profile pic is awesome. About to watch "Tour de Pharmacy" before bed here. Looks funny as hell!

I think I messed up quoting. I had intended to respond to GottaBurnEmAll. Sorry about that. Furthermore, I did not intend to disparage you in any way and the not celebrating part was directed at myself because, although I was technically in the healthy range, I was carrying way too much fat.

We watched "It Stains the Sand Red" last night. Not nearly as good as "Coherence". Definitely requires you to buy right in but, if you do, it's decent enough and the lead does a exemplary job of her role. There are pacing issues as well and I think the movie could have ended easily 10 minutes sooner than it does but still…

Yes it is! Plus Henry Rollins is in it. How can you go wrong? On a similar note, I quite enjoyed "Splinter".

When I started out, I wore a 12. I'm 5'4" and weighed 145lbs which is just shy of overweight. I was carrying about 30% BF though so skinny fat at best. It is possible but not common and not really anything to celebrate.

Avid reader here. Currently working my way through Abaddon's Gate, the third book in the "The Expanse" series by James SA Corey.

On weekdays, I walk the dog 4km, followed by 30 minutes of strength training and 30 minutes of yoga before I go to work. I also walk the dog 4km when I get home from work. Husband walks the dog on the weekend. I still do the strength training and yoga on Saturdays but usually don't walk though I do sometimes. Sunday is my…

Where is that screenshot with all your micronutrients from?

Another fabulous recommendation by Motorsheen! The original is far better than the American remake FYI. Watched "Coherence" last night. It was made for ~$50k! Not sure where husband finds these low budget masterpieces but I'm so glad he does. Very, very worthwhile to watch. We've got "It Stains the Sand Red" queued up for…

I'm curious how you reconcile this statement with the hard time you are giving ljsantos2005 for saying pretty much the same thing? Either calorie counting is the key to success and ljsantos2005 is betting on the right horse by supposing that the person counting calories will have the long term success of the two in the…

The same thing happened between me and husband when I first started logging and going to the gym regularly. He dropped some weight very quickly even though he wasn't exercising at all, most likely due to the fact that I cook our meals so his portions were controlled in a way they hadn't been previously. Following that…
