So ... tonight I was running late because of work guests in town. I was rolling in to the gym right as she was leaving. She said "Oh, I was worried that you weren't here." That's a little ... odd ... I think. But I just said "Thanks - just busy at work. Have a good night." I guess I don't mind the chit chat as much as the…

What is your height? Starting weight? Goal weight? Are you using a food scale and weighing everything that passes your lips?

I am appreciating all these suggestions. I went to the gym today and of course she was there on her favorite machine so I had to pass her as I walked in to drop my stuff off. I said hello and she almost immediately started telling me about her husband's current medical issue. I listened for a minute and then said "Oh wow,…

I want to be liked so I always try to be friendly if approached but I hate social interaction so I never initiate it. I don't ever want to hurt someone's feelings ... my hubby says I let myself be taken advantage of which is probably true!

OMG this is awesome! Lol - actually, last week I was wearing my Nike "Equality" shirt and I actually had a thought about how she might react (knowing she is very religious).
-
Ugh ... that's what my mother would say. Lol - you may be right. ;-)

Changing gyms isn't an option ... this is the nicest one in a town with few choices. And I really think she doesn't know how creepy she comes off sometimes. She is very religious (as she has told me several times). She also does some part-time maintenance work at the gym so I am not sure going to management would help. Ugh…

I keep my winter coat in my office and run a space heater all day (even when it is 80-90 outside because the a/c kills me). My co-workers mock me a little but I am not going to be miserable at work all day!

"Starvation mode" lol

Go see a movie or comedy show or concert. Treat yourself to some beauty pampering or massage. Buy a cute outfit.

Light movement and I swear by epsom salts in the bathtub!

I'm between 5'9 and 5'10 and down to 171 from a high of 284. Nowhere near "too skinny" but people sometimes tell me to stop or I will disappear. I am shooting for 150-155 to re-evaluate and I think of the comments as just "awkward compliments" because I think that's the intention!

171.4 here - went on a work trip to the Virgin Islands. Ate all of the food and drank all of the rum. Lol - "weighed" 181 when I returned. All gone within a week because of the reasons you mentioned. Even though I felt like I ate a lot I was not above maintenance that much. That's the benefit of 2 years of slow, reasonable…

This. All of this.

I love working out. Love it. It's my me time, my de-stress time, the only time my work phone isn't glued to my hand. Lifting and group classes are my fave. Cardio machines I find boring but I put my time in and listen to music to make it pass more quickly.

I have worked with two trainers in the past year (one moved away). I'd say the nutrition thing might require a different professional as other have mentioned (different certifications/expertise). But don't expect the PT to be a mind reader. Tell him/her what you are looking for and see how they respond. Good communication…

I am on the last 23-25 after dropping 110 already. It is definitely slow and steady for me. Just sticking to my small deficit, trying to log diligently (weighing all) and keeping up the workouts (lots of lifting!)

OMG, I now have the most intense craving for a Portillo's Chicago dog. Thanks a lot! Lol

Our before and after pics wouldn't be that dissimilar. I am 5'9 and started at 284 ... down to 171 now. My next goal is 150-155. I have started to get slightly discouraged by my saggy belly and arm skin. (I have been lifting and have lost slowly over two years). But I am going to keep going to see what 20 more pounds does…

A pound a week is great and sustainable! Do you weigh everything on a food scale? Keep up the good work!
-
Amazing - great thread that I hope a lot of people read!

Well ... anything can help you lose weight if you are eating in a deficit. But, having men in your place myself, I can tell you eggs go a long way, as do beans, frozen veggies and whatever meats are on sale!

Woo! Pulled 175x3 today which is finally more than my body weight (171.4) ... recovering from a rib injury so I am super pumped. Deadlifts are my new fave thing (after months of struggling!)

Talk to the trainers at the gym. Have them give you a tour and show you how to use everything. If you can afford one or two PT sessions you can get some personal instruction. Otherwise just go to the classes with an open mind. I sucked at everything when I started but I kept at it and now I rock! Lol

You can eat anything you want for breakfast. And carbs aren't bad if they fit your goals. How about eggs and bacon? A smoothie? Leftovers from dinner? I rarely vary my breakfast and lunch because I am a creature of habit so I have a peanut butter Fiber One bar (140 calories) at about 6:30 when I arrive at work and then 200…

Plug your stats into this app (MFP) and set your weight loss goal (.5 to 1 lb/week depending on how aggressive you want to be with deficit). The most important thing is to pick a goal you can stick with. It's a marathon, not a sprint!

TOM = time of month. Are you using a food scale to measure everything you eat?

Had the gym to myself this morning. Usually it is pretty busy on Sundays. Stuck to my normal day (deadlifts and stuff) but I sang very loudly along with the radio and flexed a lot for the mirrors!!
