66 yr old man, 5'8" tall, 225 lbs, otherwise healthy. Want to drop 40 lbs & maybe more. But 185 will work for now. Cannot find what my total daily calorie intake should be to help reach my goal. Anybody out there able to provide that number?

Plug your stats into this app (MFP) and set your weight loss goal (.5 to 1 lb/week depending on how aggressive you want to be with deficit). The most important thing is to pick a goal you can stick with. It's a marathon, not a sprint!

What number did MFP give you at setup?

You won't succeed just by wanting to lose weight, you have to want to stop overeating. MFP can be a great tool to help you find the best of all worlds - food you love, appropriate amounts. Good health, good life.
