Maybe try to put some exercise into future holidays to lessen the blow. I also skip breakfast when I'm away - it gives me a bit more freedom for the rest of the day.

It all helps. Walking definitely burns calories, the faster or hillier the better. Pilates must help a bit, the classes I go too are certainly a bit of a workout. Could you also do some resistance training?
