@hesfeld Good luck in your 5K this weekend. @lporter229 Sorry to hear you have to take a running break. I did the entire P90X3 workout to start off my fitness journey. The MMX workout was my favorite. If you join a gym that offers Body Pump, I would recommend it. I think I need to get back to taking it once my left leg…

@Elise4270 Omg...I'm stuffy, drippy, sneezy, and my eyes are itchy too. If I can think of 3 more symptoms of whatever is blowing in the air, I can start a new group of 7 dwarfs.

@jessicalferrara With how much you probably spent on those, I would contact them for repair or replacement 1st. If you want a cheap pair that works, this is what I use:…

@WhatMeRunning That's what I'm thinking, but I don't want it to be a chore for him. He has 2 team practices, 1 skills practice and currently has futsal and outdoor games. So, he's a pretty busy kid. He should have a break after the next outdoor season. I've been thinking about getting him a cheap used Garmin so he can see…

I did a 15K trail race at night. I think it started pretty late because it was in July. Maybe 8 or 9 pm? I think i took a nap that day. I didn't know anything about race nutrition then. I was thankful I brought my hydration belt with 1 bottle of water and 1 with Gatorade. They advertised hydration support and aid stations,…

@autumnblade75 There is an app called All Trails that I use to find trails to run. I've used it locally where I live and when vacationing.
-
@hesfeld That sounds fun. I see glow runs around here from time to time. I think those would be fun to do some time. I did a 15K trail race at night and I'm doing another this summer down in Glenrose, TX. They have 5K, 15K, and HM options. I've only been to that IKEA once because my son had a soccer game nearby. It's…

@Brumley2005 I would go to a running store to get fitted. They will be able to determine what shoes will be good for you based on foot shape, arch, etc... A lot of brand new models are coming out so they might have last year's shoes on clearance. Just let them know you are new to running and don't want to spend too much.…

@RespectTheKitty Lol...whoops!! https://m.dickssportinggoods.com/p/columbia-womens-switchback-rain-jacket-15cmbwwswtchbckrnapo/15cmbwwswtchbckrnapo?color=Spring+Yellow I'd shop around, but that's the one I have. If you shop around, just make sure you get one thats's vented in the back or you'll get too hot. Also, there us…

@hesfeld I just looked up that race. Are you doing the Half Marathon? It looks fun!! I run on the Trinity River a lot but over on the Fort Worth side. I'm in Dallas almost every weekend for my son's soccer games, but other than that I hardly go to Dallas; otherwise, I'd give you tips of things to do. The 6th Floor Museum…

@7lenny7 I'm so sorry to hear about your mother in law. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. @RespectTheKitty This is the jacket I have. I had a coupon, so I got it for $30. Also, I would buy it 1 size up so you can layer it. I've used it in the rain, and it kept me dry. I also use it on really cold days…

@garygse The Dallas Marathon is December 10th!! Registration opens May 1st! I won't run that one as a full since I'll probably do the Cowtown as a full. It was fun so I might run it as a HM. One of my friends who ran it as a full got her medal autographed by Meb at the race last year.

Had a great 10 mile run on Saturday with no calf pain, but now my IT band is bugging me. Ugh...so frustrated. :'( My left leg is apparently out of whack, but insurance doesn't kick in until I spend lots of money so PT will be completely out of pocket. I'll probably break down and start going again soon though. Walked…

Same here!! Wore my arm sleeves probably the last time for a while and went on a very fun 10 miler!!

@lporter229 Just read your race report!! Thank you for sharing!! You look amazing with that "I just ran the freakin Boston Marathon and BQ'd!!" With a glass of champagne!! Love it, and I'm so happy you had a great race. Hope you recover soon, but enjoy the downtime. You worked hard for this and deserve a break. ;)

@Elise4270 Yeah...I don't get it why he doesn't want a fake poop trophy. My grandfather had fake poop that he'd set out and ask he we left it there. I always thought it was hilarious!! I told him to run slow and he won't have to worry about it!! Your daughter's bumper sticker is awesome!! I need one of those, even though…
-
@Elise4270 Yay!! I'll add it to my calendar too!! There's 2.5, 5.5, and 13.1 mile options. Hoping hubby and the kiddo will come along to do the 2.5 mile option. I want to try the HM. My son doesn't think fake Scat awards sound totally awesome. Not sure who he takes after!! Lol

It's been super busy at work so I haven't been commenting much. I was at least reading until today, so now I'm really behind. @Elise4270 OMG!! I found the perfect race that we have to do together. It's not until December, but it's called the POOP Race!!! Yes...POOP Race. It stands for Protect Our Oklahoma Parks. It's in…

Thanks for the race recap @MobyCarp! That's always one of my biggest fears...that I'll get sick right before a race. You did an awesome job in adverse conditions. A marathon is incredibly difficult in perfect conditions. In the meantime, I hope your recovery goes well. :)
-
Congratulations to both @MobyCarp and @lporter229 !! You both finished the Boston Marathon! Hope you get to enjoy some yummy food soon, and we're all looking forward to hearing how your race went!
-
I hope he's ok too! By the avg pace, it looks like he had to walk between tgec40K and the finish. @lporter229 seems to be holding her pace well. Hope her hamstring continues to hold up for her! It was getting warm when the elites were finishing. I'll bet it's pretty toasty now!
-
Watching the Boston live stream, and have @MobyCarp and @lporter229 's bibs pulled up to keep up. @MobyCarp is showing up now!! Hoping you both have a great race today!!

Sometimes hunger is more intense the day after a really hard workout. Most runners seem to experience the strongest "runger" the day following a long run.
-
@lporter229 and @MobyCarp Wishing the 2 of you safe travels and best wishes at Boston on Monday! I know we're all excited for the two of you!! Also, if you happen to leave any clothing along the way, here's an article about the lady who started collecting it for donations. 50,000 lbs are now collected!!! Wow!!…

No, definitely not. My heart rate is not elevated that much when standing. It's healthier though.

As long as you have realistic expectations going into maintenance, I don't think it's harder. If someone thinks they can go back to eating the way they were or that they'll be able eat a lot more calories, then that person will be very disappointed or unsuccessful in maintenance. There are times when I miss eating out at…
-
Just keep doing everything you're doing. I only get to eat a little over 150 net calories per day more than I was eating during weight loss. So....I'm a tiny bit less hungry than I was before maintenance. ;)
