I just hope your half marathon isn't anytime soon. With how little you are running now, it will take a while to build up your running base. I ran 5 days a week and had already done a few 5Ks, a 10K, and a 15K before starting my Half Marathon training. I'm not saying you have to do it that way, but 13.1 miles is a long…

I just got a pair of Under Armour ones on Amazon. I was up in WI over Thanksgiving and running quite a bit. They were thin and probably good until about freezing. Below freezing, my fingers were chilled a bit. I got a thicker pair at the Packer Hall of Fame that should be good below freezing. If it's super cold, I'd just…

There is no way to know what this is for you. It depends on intensity and your current body weight. You can probably get a heart rate monitor pretty cheap on Amazon. I did P90X3, and I lost 30 lbs over the 90 days. My calorie burns at the beginning were way higher because I was overweight and out of shape.

@louubelle16 Too funny!! I've done something similar. I've programmed some Tempo Runs into my watch, and for some reason, it shows me AVERAGE pace on the main screen instead of my current pace. However, I didn't realize this. I'm at the part where I'm supposed to be picking up speed and the pace isn't changing much on my…

Yeah...got my Runner's World, and read about their version of "streaking." Lol!

@Elise4270 As in running down the road naked like Will Ferrell did in Old School? LOL

Running update for Saturday and Monday: Had another good run this morning. I only felt a slight twinge of pain when I fell back into my previous running technique. Once I corrected to kicking back further on the toe off and using my glutes, the pain went away. I did have some tenderness in my hamstring after Saturday's…

@Stoshew71 Congrats again on your HM and getting a PB! Thanks for sharing the race report and pics. @Ohhim Nice name on your race bib...LOL! @kristinegift Good luck in the last week of your taper before your marathon. I'm so excited for you, and can't wait to hear how it goes. @lissadecker Hope you recover and feel better…

Update on run and hamstring issue: I was so excited to run on Saturday, I woke up super early, and when I got out the door, I was going way too fast. It was almost like a race, but a notch lower. LOL! The run went really well. I focused on kicking off using my glutes and trying to keep my breathing in check. I didn’t feel…

Great story!! Thanks for sharing!! I started running in January of 2016 as well. Great tome too! I finished my 1st half marathon on 1:48 and placed 2nd in my age group. You beat me though! Well done, and keep it up!! Are you going to run a marathon next?

I don't think when you eat matters, but it is good to make sure you have protein after a workout. I do both, depending on the workout and time of day. If I'm just doing a short 3 to 5 mile run early morning, I won't eat before hand. If I'm doing a long run, I'll have a 1/2 an English Muffin and some Greek yogurt before…

I think your experience in losing weight would be helpful to anyone that wants to get a PT to lose weight, whether it's 20 lbs or 100+ lbs. The fact that you know the challenges someone faces in losing weight would be very helpful. The Body Pump Instructor at my gym is overweight, but she's awesome and can handle more…

I'm so behind in keeping up with this thread since it's been super crazy at work. I sure hope I didn't miss any good bathroom related stories!! LOL I have some great news though! I'm clear to run tomorrow!!! WOO HOO!!! My hamstring didn't hurt after my exercises on Wednesday night, and it didn't hurt after PT on Thursday.…

I did P90X3, and successfully completed it. I followed the classic schedule, plus I usually did zumba once per week and walked my dog 3 to 5 days a week. At 1st I didnt diet and gained 2 lbs. I didn't follow the P90X diet, but started counting calories on MFP. Then the weight started falling off. I lost 30 lbs in the 90…

@louubelle16 I also think it had to do more with eight days between charges. I doubt my Garmin would last that long. Mine held up fine during a half marathon with plenty of battery to spare. @jodilynnsanders5104 congratulations on your first half marathon! I hope you had a great experience. well done!! @MobyCarp I…

@Ohhim Congratulations on your Iron Man finish!! What an amazing accomplishment! Your finish time is incredible. So happy for you!! @Orphia Smart decision not to race. I'm dealing with hamstring issues myself right now, but behind my knee. Hope your physio appt goes well, and you get back to running soon.

Yes!! The weather was gorgeous today. I brought a coat but totally didn't need it. Wish I could have ran today, but I'm stuck on the elliptical for a while. :'(

Just try some different things and find what works for you. I personally love music and singing along. Some people enjoy audiobooks or pod casts. Some enjoy just focusing on breathing and their form. If I'm trail running, I don't listen to music at all, just nature, my breathing and the sound of my feet. That's my true…

@skippygirlsmom Sorry Skip didn't qualify for state, but sounds like she definitely had a great season!

I like the way you think @Elise4270 !! Lol

I do that with my husband and my son. 6 miles is my husband's max distance and my son rides his bike. Then, they hang out while I finish whatever I have left.
-
@_nikkiwolf_ Those are the exact same shoes I just got...same color and everything. I love mine too...just wish I could run in them and not just "elliptical." Have fun!!
-
@Stoshew71 and @Elise4270 Here are the exercises. Some are to stretch the hamstrings, some are to help with hip flexor mobility and glute strength.
-
@Stoshew71 and @elise4270 I'll post a copy of the instructions tomorrow when I'm on the pc and can upload a pic. @louubelle16 Thanks for the tip. I took your advice and took my avg time for the distance and did that on the elliptical. I did the Arc Trainer tonight, but afterwards, I experimented with some other machines. I…

Question and upate on PT Appointment Ok, so I was advised to not run for 2 weeks to allow my hamstring to rest so it heals faster. :'( The Zero Runner has disappeared from my gym. Apparently, it was just there for a trial period, and I wanted to cry last night when I saw it was gone. So, I was wondering if anyone has…

@shanaber I think vodka lemonades at the end of each lap would be the right kind of motivation to get me swimming!! LOL! @HeatherMN I'd be totally into kayaking instead of swimming!! That sounds much better!
-
@OSUbuckeye906 Seems like lots of tree branch issues lately!! Glad you are OK, and hope your achilles feels better soon!

So a 1/2 mile swim would be 33 lengths of a 25 yard pool or 16.5 of a 50 yard pool? Oh yea...I'm with @RunRachelleRun ...no thanks! I would die! LOL! If there is a time limit, I'd be cut off. I think I was close to dieing after 8 lengths of the pool. My brother was on the swim team so you'd think I'd have some genes to be…
