  • I just find this a double standard. Keto folks eat carbs just not a lot of them. Leafy greens, nuts, berries etc. Some eat more some eat less. So they havent totally eliminated a macro at all. Just reduced it to their preference. I mean sure there are some that take it to zero carb but seems to me most do get some carbs.…
  • I don't think your an oddball! What makes this way of eating so great is you can easily tailor it to your specific likes. I'll confess I can not stand meat fat. I don't like the feel of it in my mouth. To me it's gristly, greasy, slimy and it will make me gag! I still cut it off my meat *shrugs* ... I get my fat through…
  • OK well keto folks cut out carbs for health reasons too. Or a good portion of them do. Primarily diabetics or IR. I'm not singling you out so please don't take it that way. I've just seen SO many comments about this on keto and virtually none on the other ways of eating. It's just something interesting I've picked up…
  • I have a question ... seriously. Why is it folks say keto is soooo restrictive while it's not said to vegans or vegetarians?
  • How's your fat intake?
  • Bacon Eggs Avacado Pork Rinds Cheese. Use the blocks. Pre-shredded can have starches in them. Type I don't believe is important Just read the label for carb content and pick your favorite. Sour cream Heavy whipping cream Butter Spinach Cabbage Romaine Hearts Asparagus Swiss Chard Turnip Greens Chicken with skin on. Thighs…
  • Wow - thank you for this! I just finished watching it and I loved it. It's now bookmarked :)
  • Man am I horrible about checking in! I have been doing kettlebells daily! Weekends are my rest days. Stress - I can't call this a win. While I attempt to work on it, I've failed in the "daily" part. I need to schedule more time for just myself which I'm finding hard to do :(
  • This is seriously awesome! Congratulations!!!
  • I just do carbs as a 20 grams net hard limit (usually). Then my protein I make sure I hit. Fill the rest in with my fats that make me feel full. I don't worry about hitting that fat "number". As Sunny_Bunny_ says, as long as I'm not hungry all the time, if my body needs fuel it has it's own pantry ;)
  • My point was ... science told me those foods were bad and guess what, they aren't. So obviously there are times when science can be wrong ... or bad science that gets published as gospel to the masses. However you want to phrase it or look at it. Obviously you can be underweight and have serious health concerns. But I am…
  • I am not disagreeing with your take on all this. So let's get that settled first LOL I am only offering mine to the OP. Up to them what they buy to read. I'd rather see someone spend money on a book than say on ... Hydroxycut. Nope, never seen one report on that. What I did see a LOT was how fat was going to kill me and so…
  • I find it interesting that after all this time and all the studies done ... we still have diabetes, we still have IR and obesity appears to be getting worse. So obviously what has been the "fix" over the years hasn't worked. Maybe it's because it doesn't work like they thought? Who knows. If by chance he's on to something…
  • I haven't read the book. I have listened to a few interviews and such. Some feel he's a quack. I honestly can't say either way just from what I've listened to. What I do know is he seems to think outside of the box in terms of IR and problems that can go along with it. Personally, I like that. Since what we have now…
  • Everyone is different but a few things come to mind. Weight loss doesn't happen overnight. Sometimes it takes our bodies a while to get use to new routines. You may experience weeks without a loss then suddenly you are 3lbs down. Also I am one who believes calories matter. This way of eating for a lot of people means…
  • So much this!! I was a med tech in a facility for the elderly in another life. This is a huge issue and personally I don't touch it. I just drink/eat salt. I don't even take that Nu Salt or the light salt. Just sea salt! Welcome!
  • That everyone is an individual. What works for me won't necessarily work for someone else. There's no "universal" truths. That the stuff we spew out today will probably change in a few years and we'll be shouting out something different. That I am my own best advocate. Take all advice on board if you ask for it. Then weed…
  • I'm coming to this place myself. I have 15lbs until goal. Frankly, I am terrified! :o
  • Hummmm . . I'm going out on a limb here and say this calorie restriction is very low. If you are a healthy female your minimum should be 1200 and that's minimum! This kind of restriction can cause cravings and binges. I'm 55 years old 5'6" tall and typically eat a lot more than that. Lately I have been under but I go…
  • OMGosh Thank you! I appreciate the recommendations and will check into those. Just what I was hoping for!
  • Wow. Thank you guys for all the info and links!! What a great help  ! @Sunny_Bunny_. I am trying to see if adding some MCT oil might improve my OCD and ability to focus a bit more. My reading comprehension isn't the best either. I'm not looking for a miracle. I know I'll always have these issues. Easing them up a…
  • Thank you guys! This is helping a lot. @kpk54 ... Thank you for explaining how the oils worked for you and the link. I hadn't seen it :( I read it at lunch and it was really helpful. NOW I get what *good* means. I will have to reread and process when I get home from work. @RalfLott. Thanks for that! I will have to see if I…
  • OK thank you! And ok I need to buy a different olive oil because I see mine is marked "light".
  • Day one is in the books! Exercise - Jillian and I were BFF's for 30 minutes today. De-stressing - 10 minutes in a soaky bath with epsom salts and lavender incense!
  • I'm in!! I haven't done one of these since before Christmas! I need to commit to a better exercise plan and de-stressing myself. I will start with those two this time! *sticks toes into water gently*
  • Sugar free jello is .... bad?!?! Sorry, Nuh Uh. YUMMIE ;)
  • Welcome! Excellent job!
  • Sure! And welcome!
  • Same here! I tend to be under calories I monitor that pretty closely. A couple under days I don't mind but if it starts getting out of hand I work to fix it. I'm one that believes under 1200 Cal for an extended period is bad news so YMMV on that :)
  • Oh my. Forgot about my question LOL. I do have HBP but I don't appear to be sodium sensitive. Last time I was at doc's we actually talked about taking me off them!! YAY! But he wants to wait a while because I do have mitral valve prolapse and he wants to monitor that and my BP for a bit yet. My average lately has been…
