  • Crop tops, all the crop tops!
  • I saw an advert for electrodes that you attach to your back and that give you a small shock when you're not standing/sitting straight. I'm considering that as my posture is awful from years of trying to hide my boobs!
  • I'm so glad I found this thread. I've always been self conscious of my stomach as it is always the place I gain at first and lose last. Nice to see people talking about posture too because mine is terrible and I always feel like I'm 'cheating' if I stand up straight and flex for progress pics which is so silly because…
  • Also, band size is related to cup size so you may find that despite losing volume in your breasts the ratio between your breasts and your band might remain the same or even increase. I actually went for a 34DD to a 30F because I lost more fat on my back than I did my boobs.
  • I think excercise calories can be more or less accurate as long as you truly evaluate the amount of effort you are putting in, distance, duration etc and take into account things like your weight and age. People often talk about gym machines being inaccurate but I have found the machines at my gym to be in line with my HRM…
  • If I'm in my own home or eating food that i have prepared myself I will log everything. The problems come in social situations especially when alcohol is involved. It gets so tricky to estimate all the variables and I end up thinking 'why bother?'.
  • If you're going out to eat stick to plain chicken with steamed vegetables. If eating at a restaurant it's because I want to eat amazing food that I can't cook myself. One meal is not going to derail you. Allow yourself some enjoyment in life.
  • My Fitness Pal provides a calorie estimate based on your stats: weight, age, level of activity and rate of loss. To get a different estimate you need to change one of these factors the most reasonable being rate of loss. How much did you say you wanted to lose per week?
  • Yeah I agree. I can't see this type of marketing going down well in the UK. We prefer silent, passive agressive judgement to any kind of confrontation. I suppose the closest we have is Curves seeing as it's for women only and emphasises that it's for all ages and levels of fitness. I also agree that cheap gyms are popping…
  • Yeah I just brushed him off but it did make me wonder whether he would do the same to the more egregious gym etiquette offenders or if he just went after me because I was smaller than him and probably wouldn't stand up for myself. If I see him again I will watch and see!
  • Is this an American thing? I've literally never heard of the term before.
  • Yes the 'thin privilege' stuff can get really nasty. I saw something recently when the Fat Acceptance movement were going after someone I follow on instagram. She is a recovered anorexic and speaks about body positivity, mental health and social media. A lot of her posts involve a posed or edited image next to a more…
  • This isn't really this particular man's fault but it's something that really annoyed me recently. I am a very mild mannered and non-confrontational person and I never complain about what others are doing in the gym. Not when people don't rerack their plates and I (a small women) has to move multiple 25kg plates before my…
  • I feel like I have more energy in the evenings (I'm a night owl and hate getting up early) but recently my gym has become packed at the time that I like to go (6/7pm) so I might switch to mornings again and drag myself out of bed.
  • I would say that yo-yo dieting is also psychological damaging because the more times it fails the more likely you are to throw it all in when you stall because you feel that weight gain is inevitable.

  • Phew I did it in 30. I live on the 9th floor and my lift breaks all the time so I've definitely had some practice. I also used to work on the 3rd floor and never got the lift.
  • I am in exactly the same boat as you. I am currently 137lbs with a 30 inch waist. My heaviest was 152lbs and 133 inches and my lowest was 132lbs with a 29 inch waist. I lose much slower from my upper body than from my lower body which is frustrating because I had precious little to lose their. When my waist was at its…
  • I wear my running shoes for everything. I really recommend going to a running shop and have them analyse your gait. They showed me on a screen how I was overpronating and how wearing corrective trainers stopped this. I am so much more comfortable now and never get blisters. I did buy the first pair from the shop as a thank…
  • Another approach that I've seen work is to save your exercise calories for the weekend so that you're still at the same weekly deficit but have a bit more to work with at weekends
  • I guess your best guess is to look for an entry in the database for something like 'frosting' and log the amount you ate. Do you have another cupcake that you could scrape the frosting off to weigh?
  • I started properly on MFP (i.e. stuck with it for more than a month!) about 2 years ago with a starting weight of 152lbs and height of 5"3. I can't remember what my initial calorie goal was but I stuck with it for about a year and managed to loose 15lbs in quite a consistent manner. It was when I got to around 135lbs that…

  • I don't really have much to add to what's being said here. I agree that BMI is a range for a reason. You are most likely to be healthy at anywhere within that range. Beyond that it's about what you want to look like and what you can maintain. I am currently at 24 (5 ft 3 and 137lbs) and I would like to be slimmer I know…
  • I agree with the poster above, scones are with dried fruit or plain (served with clotted cream and jam) or cheese with butter. Other British buffet type food are, for savoury, sausage rolls or scotch eggs and for sweet have a look at ladyfingers or jammy dodgers. Oh, and no British kid's party is complete without a cheese…
  • Have you changed anything else? Type of food, exercise routine. Are you eating back your exercise calories?

  • Did your cheat day involve alcohol? I always weigh less after a boozy night as I'm dehydrated.

  • You mentioned your bra size. I would highly recommend getting refitted for a bra if you haven't already. Your new size may surprise you and your clothes will be much more flattering with the proper undergarments. Get fitted at a trustworthy store (not Victoria Secrets!) or use the advice from this fantastic website…
