I'm a huge fan of REI and although I have been a member a looong time, these threads made me look at my member number which is in the 7 figures. Great quality, great company and environmentally friendly as well. I choose to give them my business because they are a responsible corporation which is rare these days. Of…

I empathize and agree that it's time in the saddle that will fix this. Congrats for picking up cycling and keep it up!

When I started MFP six weeks ago I was convinced I couldn't lose weight anymore like I could when younger. Lo & behold by tracking I am realizing I am a chronic overeater (even heathy food adds up!) and I have already lost 8 pounds which I'm over the moon about. So my advice is to religiously track and review your…

Jim, I know how I got here - after three years of relentless family crises. Now I look back and realize that I could have weathered the problems better if I had taken better care of myself. You are right, it's for longevity and consistency. That's what I'm working on now. It's not just the reduction of food, it's also…

I'm in too! I'm 5'8" and want to lose 25 in total. I'm a mom of 3 boys, have a husband and a demanding job and sometimes it seems there is no time left to take care of me. Or, more accurately, I have a hard time prioritizing myself. I started using MFP a month ago. I like the tracking and it is working! Would like to have…

Good point and video. Thanks for sharing.

Love, love that graphic! Thanks cee134! That certainly explains some of my plateaus.

Lots of great comments and thoughts here. We all suffer with losses of one kind or another. Sometimes in stress I under-eat and sometimes overeat. That's just the stress trying to find a way out of your body/mind. Consciously replacing those tendencies with heathy habits is the key for me. I agree with others to treat…

I've been using it for years and have fun with it. I have a group of friends that I'm competitive with. It actually makes me think about going out of my way to walk further. I park in the far lot, I'll walk around the block, extra walks with the dog. My Fitbit isn't very accurate though which is my main complaint. I walked…

opps, I mean the explanation for TRX.

I agree with both Becca and Annr that food is one of those things that isn't always logical. But when it comes down to it, our relationships with people and work and money aren't always approached logically either. I work with domestic violence victims, and they can't understand their own behavior and choices in the past.…

Everyone is so inspiring here, I'm glad I landed on this thread. I spent almost 3 hours hiking in the woods near the great Potomac River yesterday. It always feels great to get outdoors and thank god it's not as hot and miserable as it had been a few weeks ago. Then after I returned home, I got together with a girlfriend…

I just started MFP 3 weeks ago and was afraid to step on scale. Someone here sent me this thread and it helped so much! I did the dirty deed and discovered I was 5 pounds heavier than I hoped in my mind. But it has turned into a motivator. I love the emphasis on long term trends, and how your clothes feel and Heath…

Oscar the dog is too cute! I'm so happy with my first couple of weeks using MFP, and glad to have found others on their own health journey. Today I didn't feel like hitting the gym, but then I did anyway! Here we are heading into September and hopefully things will start to cool off. The hot humid weather we've had has…

Hey everyone! My name is Marcelle and today is my 53rd birthday and I'm once again trying to lose some weight I've gained the past two years. Feels like my whole adult life I've been playing yo-yo with 20-30 pounds. Anyhoo- looking for friendly advice and support along the way. - I started tracking 2 weeks ago on MFP and…

First of all, please only focus on one day at a time. Make the smallest goals possible- "walk to the corner", or "prepare one healthy meal". You have a lifetime to get this right. No worries when you "mess up". You are overwhelmed and need to give yourself a chance to accomplish one thing at a time.

Oh I calculated calories based on a guess. I probably guessed low which is why I'm in denial and don't want to see the actual number. Ok - time for courage!!

Great ideas! I agree that what is more important than the actual number is how I feel in my body and clothes. I will really know when improvement is occurring based on that. It is silly when you think about it. Thank you all!

I wish it wasn't such a barrier. Thanks for encouragement!

Lol in my mind I'm afraid it'll be worse. I'm going to set that as my goal this weekend. I just have to deal with it!
